My son went through a very similar situation. He was charged with first degree murder. After spending two and a half years in an adult jail he was found NOT GUILTY!!! That was in 2006. He has a beautiful heart!!! He has a family now as well. We all still battle with the horror we went through, specially him!!! PRAIES THE NAME OF JESUS HE HAS BEEN SET FREE!!! He has a great job in which he loves very much!! He provides for his family very well. Thank Jesus that this nightmare didn’t kill his spirit!!!

When the judge announced the verdict of NOT GUILTY. I raised my hands to Jesus as his Dad sobbed in his hands and his little sister cried tears of joy. Her first words were” my hubby is coming home”. Praise Jesus!!!

What this movie does actually prove is how easy it can be to actually end up in prison for something that you never actually did. Jimmy was lucky as his appeal case at the high court was reviewed, but how many other Innocent people are still sitting behind bars.

Funny thing is that halfway the movie is when I decided to read through the comments :-)

Oh my goodness I cried a lot. Awesome story. I remember my brother who got in prison because of false accusation. I study a lot of laws relevant to his case so I can defend him as the judge plead him guilty. I don't settle and saw my brother's eyes tears always begging for me because he knew I am warrior. So I raise his case to the highest court and I never surrender till the judge don't drop the case. The highest court called out the judge and after a week my brother got out in jail and walk free now. Always tell the truth even if it hurts you and your life will be at risk. Truth is truth. Thanks for upload. Lesson for everybody.

I am a retired Prison Officer who worked with life prisoners for 7 years, I have to say that if you treat prisoners right, and do not look into what they have done they will respect you and in my case look after you. But in saying that there is the minority. Great Film

I believe this movie should be shown in jr highs and high schools for educational purposes ! Shows young men how easy it is to be convicted of somthing that is real in today’s society. And also to women who falsely claim these claims ! This goes both ways too ! Thank you for this movie it was amazing whoever wrote it .

Great movie. It's sad how someone can be falsely accused of a crime and serve many years before the truth is found out. The law is really not meant to protect us. Amazing how ppl can determine how you will spend your life when it comes to justice. I enjoyed this one as well. Thanks for sharing.

He was guilty of alcohol and drug use and not having control in memory of his movements. He could have done it, can't be sure. if he was a good guy he would have gone home after the family party. Partying at clubs and bars overuse of alcohol, see how he downed those drinks?, and drugs is nothing new to him. IF YOU put your life in a situation than your situation becomes part of your life. Guilty or not I'm glad he did prison time.

The strong bond between Will and Jimmy was what really pulled at my heart strings. Two totally different people can find a way to connect with the utmost respect. Love this movie.

I know the. Feeling I had people swear against me and sent me to prison for five years for thirty dollies as a result I lost my wife and family my job and my life teaching world history at Clay County high school in Manchester Kentucky however the lord Jesus Christ was with me serving that time he never left me or turned his back on me I am now a born again Christian. I was born into the church of god in Christ in louisville kentucky I can feel the love of the father as I am writing this comment it doesn't matter how people treat you it matters how you. Treat them I was commanded by god to forgive not only the people who swore five years of my life away but to forgive everyone I had a neace and a nephew shot and killed in cold blood not to mention that my brother was killed and the guy who was. Responsible didn't spend a day in prison I. Strongly identified with this movie it wad if will was living the same experiences that I lived. If anyone wants to text me about my. Jones and my comment is the only way we can be truly free is if the son of man and the son of God sets us free then we are free indeed . v I am definitely not suicidal but I would not. Want to live without the lord I guess. That is why his grace found me he took away the cold calloused heart that I had and gave me a kind and loving heart i will praise him with my last breath I had rather. Die. Good movie, I love the way the disabled man gives him a pat on the shoulder, when he is upset after his mom had to leave early. Then at the end the disabled man cried.

The Lord has picked me up many times and gathered all the broken pieces of my heart to mend my broken spirit .Thank you Jesus for saving me ,without Jesus I am nothing .

The saddest moment was when William gave his last goodbye hug to the wheeled-chair-old-man... 😭😭😭 It's really upset to know that there are many good people being mistreated/being taken advantage of by manipulators just for selfish motives... 😤

This is the first prison movie that I've seen where they mostly were congenial towards each other. Bromance is a beautiful thing. ❤

The part in movie where Will told Jimmy what was worth the risk, about the satisfaction of ocean waves and results of such power..... It sticks with me, Like something clicked in Jimmys mind. Opening up the Devine thought being there are some sweet, majestic, Powerful things in , Jimmy never considered the thoughts of achieving such GLORY, I think this was a very eye opening moment for Jimmy to consider, my goodness he yet had so much life to live. It was powerful what Will said to him. Wonderful Movie, Thank for All

The Song "Rise" really got to me ,I was in 13 foster homes growing up and 3 prisons for petty things , but I found myself and I'm a lovely bloke just never believed in myself .I now have a really good job and buietifull family . life's definitely a journey .God bless everyone out there "PEACE"

There’s another really good prison movie on YT It’s called “Starred up” Got some tears out of me at the end.. def worth a watch

This was so beautiful that I cried. Love and hope is what I got from it. Especially to reach love from a friendship that was so incompatible, Jimmy was a tough guy; Will was a little soft but they learned/ respected each other. Sometimes people come into your life for different reasons.❤

What a beautiful and touching film. Those grown men made this grown man cry... tears of sadness, and tears of joy. For all those who have been wrongly convicted as I once was; my heart goes out to you. Hang on, God is with you.

That made me so angry

I almost turned this performance off but decided to give it a few more minutes and wow, Iam I glad I did. I became entranced withy the way Will worked his may through the other prision imates and became friends with many of them. A remarkable story and film.

What a FANTASTIC movie why can't we see more like this

One of the most moving films relating to false convictions and how you must stand up and rise to your own beliefs, if you are truly innocent. However, the relationship that developed between Will and Jimmy signifies how the universe somehow knows how to bring people together for survival in various situations. I would rate this movie above an A++.

brought me to tears. so many prison movies and this one hit. i did a couple years at a young age and u actually meet some solid guys in there. great friendships that end up lasting a lifetime. wen u live together and fight for eachother it creates a bond that u wont find elsewhere and this movie brought that to life. mindblowing how well done this was.

Absolutely Fabulous Movie, about People telling lies that put an innocent young man in prison. He was one of the lucky ones. Wonderful Characterisation by All, as I felt Your pain, to the end and I don't cry at Movies, but this one I did.

There are so many men and women that are wrongly accused. May they find the truth and facts to be set free !

Hell yeah i went through that before but am glad they handle that shit fast because that shit not no joke. I live in Memphis T.N , i went to Nashville with my friend andd he vista sum girl's he knew now everyone was take pills and smoking weed so everybody being freaky now these girl's were Thots . but one girl really liked me so we had sex but after that me being young i went on to the nexts girl so she got mad , so a few hour's went by i was sleep when all of a sudden the police woke me up saying u have been clam of raping a girl so i ask what are y'all talking about i didn't rape nobody and i told them everyone was taking pills and smoking weed and having sex. So they took me downtown and took he to the doctor but they found nothing like she tried to stop me from having sex so they held me until they ask everyone in the house did they hear her screaming they said no she wanted to have sex with him she really liked him she even said that's her man and nobody better ask like they want him but they said they started laughing at her but i was taking a bath so i didn't hear her saying that so went i came out i started talking to her friends , but her parents ask like i was the biggest criminal alive after a few days being with murders real rapist they ask me did i want to take a lie detecter test i said yes and i pass it but they ask her to take one to she said no but they told her if she doesn't take one theu cant hold me , so she told them the truth and they let me go but they ask me if i wanted to press charges on her but her parents wanted to talk to me so i listen to what they had to say they wanted me to not send they baby to jail , so i told them y'all just wanted me to do life but i didn't send her to jail i just took my ass bacj home and never put myself and that position again.

I got held on remand for 6 months and wasn't guilty did nothing wrong at all

After 33 months on the dark side of the bars I can relate so well to your struggle and am proud of you and your help.

Very moving true story. Nathan Wilson incredible as was Martin Sacks. A true story of collusion to put someone behind bars and to "Rise" above it, changing lives of people within prison and making friends is truly inspirational. What must the director have gone through. A heart-warming, extremely sad and emotional film drama. Beautifully directed and well told "as it is". Very brave. Thank you for letting us in. Glad you are free.

I cried. It was a very deep movie. Really was glued to the screen. There is definitely a message here.

Am crying too..for the old man in awheel chair. He lost Dear friend and a nurse..happy for Jimmy and willy and both mum's.. Love this movie...shared with my daughter Reggy..

Beautiful beautiful beautiful. Great work. You can feel the emotions come through the screen. This was definitely a profound wonderfully made movie. Gotta watch !

I enjoyed every bit of it. I laughed, I cried, I smiled... I pray for those who were unjustly locked up and may they be released. So many lessons to learn so many... be kind to those u meet, don't falsely accuse, learn to forgive you actually free yourself, friendship grows in the most unlikely situations, couple up with those u need not want, momentary pleasure can be costly ... I could go on and on. Great movie

Thank you for this touching movie and those very great moments the people shared with each other giving each other strength and believing in god. I was so happy that the one lady made up her mind to help and prove the innocence of Will.

It's amazing how difficult situations bring out our pure true appreciation n feelings for people and things we otherwise take for granted

A absolutely beautiful movie

WOW this movie is amazing better than any Oscar Hollywood movie - I put my hands together 3 x during this movie looked up to the ceiling and said "Thank you God" 3x ( i have never done that before) .I know there are so many innocent people in prisons. I did volunteer work in a terrible prison every Sunday for 10 years, I saw many miracles like this where a few had their convictions overturned because they did what Will did in this movie. They Prayed, they were innocent and I believed them, they were freed! After years locked up! Prisons are a horrible place and no prison system helps a prisoner to rehabilitate. I pray for those still locked up and they are innocent. People are locked up for ridiculous petty crimes as well. Prisons are run as a business model, it costs $100,000 a year of taxpayers money to keep these illegal corporate businesses granted under maritime law. All countries should be run under Common Law! God bless them all🙏❤I have been a surfer all my life too (65)and what Will said is true~

Yes the Maritime Law is a real catch. I need to understand much more. Common Law has more humanity.

At first i thought theres no way i could take care of a disabled guy AND myself BUT i was humbled when he continued to help him.I Just thought it would be too hard with being new and up on a dirty bit like that...I was wrong. Stick to your morals even IF your in the worst way. THE MAN UPSTAIRS HAS YOUR BACK...GOD BLESS

This was a hard movie to watch. My Son is incarcerated. But I'm so glad I watched it. The ending was worth watching this. God Bless all those suffering and their families.

U can watch long kiss good night starring geena Davis of telma and Louis fame and samuel L Jackson must watch action movie. Old movie got released in probably 1996 . Definitely u will love the movie. Narrow margin starring gene hack men ultimate suspense movie. He got ocsar for best actor for French Connection movie. He acted in. Primal fear starring Richard Gere and Edward Norton is also good thriller.this movie is based on spilt personality.usual suspects ultimate thriller starring Kevin Spacey is also Good Suspense movie. Most people in jail are not guilty....they had bad lawyers who were paid by the State to "Mis"represent a person and bully them into a plea agreement under threat of a long prison term. 85% of incarcerated people don't belong there. It has turned into a numbers game with lots of money made and jobs for people. The whole system is rotten to the core. I hope your Son is out or will be soon.

whoooahh , what an exceptional man . Leading actor is a great actor , very charismatic . looks like a young Matt Damon , very attractive and mesmerising to watch him get totally lost in this role . Look forward to seeing him in other films . Well cast and beautifully portrayed . Well worth at least one watch ! The cell mate he was in charge of, brought tears to my eyes
