Rimac Nevera sets the EV Top Speed World Record!

The Nevera was set into its top speed mode, creating an aerodynamic profile that balances drag and downforce to ensure stability at high speed. Fitted with Michelin Cup 2R tires, and with the oversight of a Michelin technician, the record-setting run got underway. Behind the wheel was Miro, Rimac’s Chief Test and Development Driver. It was his challenge to get the perfect entry onto the 4km straight from the track’s curved sections to give the car the best possible chance of reaching V-MAX. @@Smzxe Bugatti Veyron reached a top of 431 over a decade ago, and the Chiron beat that recently at 490km/h. What on earth are you talking about, saying it couldn't manage this? Edit: Sam TV YT Had an earlier comment saying that there was no way a Bugatti could have been the camera car because it "couldn't keep up". I'm aware this is an electric car but that's not what the conversation was about. He's now deleted that comment because his feelings were hurt by people calling him out.

You can literally achieve any speed on an electric motor so long as you can feed it power. So this is a completely pointless achievement
The pick up between 260 to 360kph is crazy🤯
That is the definition engineering masterpiece. Well done to the entire team. May the Rimac company achieve many greater goals than this.

The day that Matt Watson of Carwow unofficially set a quater mile world record of 8.6 seconds with the Rimac Nevera I knew this car would set another world record with it's Top speed. Am not surprised but I am impressed. Congrats to the Team at Rimac. I wonder what is coming next with the Electric Vehicle Industry. Great things are coming.

In fairness the Tesla S Plaid went under 9 seconds in the 1/4 mile, but yes, what Rimac is doing to go over 250 mph on battery power is incredible. Regardless of the power source, it takes a lot of energy to move that fast.

Mate Rimac doesn't quit amazing me. If they slightly change gear ratio in Nevera, sacrificing acceleration for the sake of top speed, front motors would keep working, thus making it capable of 430+ km/h

Bolide simply is not a production car it's just a prototype with Chiron engine in it LOL 😂😂😂 1800 HP 1200 KG when They claiming it to be faster than LMP1 car around Nurburgring Why they cannot prove it? Simply fake based on numbers LMP1 car is faster than any Bugatti in existence In straight line or track Porsches 919 Hybrid EVO LMP1 is just faster

@@Smzxe It’s not that simple. Yes, the Bugatti Bolide is not a production car so you can’t compare it to any car that is. But even the 919 Tribute would not be faster in a straight line. Around pretty much every track, you are correct of course

@@essayedgar Yes and No. Something like the 919 would have a faster straight speed than a Bugatti or Nevera on a race track straight such as Kemmel at Spa or Mulsanne at Le Mans simply because it will have entered that straight at a much higher speed to begin with and accelerate to it's Vmax much quicker. Race track straights only allow for something like 8 to 10 seconds of acceleration at the vast majority of tracks until you run out of straight. I'd bet if you put a Bolide round Spa, it's Vmax on the straight still wouldn't match an LMP1 or F1 car. However the debate about the much less significant MAX speed on a straight so long as to negate any effects of acceleration or straight entry speed yes, simple horsepower and drag coefficients will dictate the winner there.

Congratulations to the Rimac Team for all their hard work. None of this happens by accident. I especially like that the car is built to survive on streets and not just a track car that will scrape its front end the second it leaves the track. The ground clearance under the car is amazing for a super high-performance car. That means a comfortable ride and a survivable car on the street.
Its almost scary for all competitors in the market the fact that Bugatti and Rimac have teamed up.

The obscene growth in the wealth of the ultra-rich in recent decades means there's no shortage of people with spaces to fill in their 20-car garage, so all the dinosaur gasser sports car makers are able to sell out "limited" editions of only 199 Special Operations Performante STO editions for $450,000 of their ordinary $300,000 supercars. Tax wealth! What's interesting is how the EV super sedans from Tesla and Lucid, and even the monster Hummer EV truck, seem to have scared BMW, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mercedes out of making high-performance EV sports cars. They seemingly can't make a quicker better-handling EV than a practical luxurious 5 passenger car. Maybe the pressure is off with the Tesla Roadster 2 delays. Surely eventually Porsche and Audi will make a killer EV sports car.

@@skierpage Eh ?? Even the current electric cars from Porsche and Audi are easily better handling than the Tesla's and Lucid's. Also I wouldn't exactly describe the Tesla's and Lucids as "luxurious", that's just absurd. They are the equivalent of a Volkswagen Passat or a Honda Accord at best.

Nevera is their second product, used to have a name C2, or Concept Two. They had Concept One earlier.

@@mistakendawg8885 Looks like you're right. 0:52 when it cuts to inside you can only hear the tires on the road (and the music they are playing) it seems. I thought you'd hear the electric motors whirring. But to be fair there might also be some sound the microphone isn't picking up.
