Lenard Leo and Steve Bannon worked on the courts and we see what happened there. Now this guy (what's his name again?) is doing the same in American academia.

It's a story of vulnerability. The academic system is based on trust, trust in the institution and trust in the individual; it was not designed with purely political actors in mind. The system tries to weed out bad research and studies, both on moral and academic grounds, you're taught to investigate all claims and to act accordingly, it wasn't setup to handle people who are making malicious accusations just to gain more political power completely outside of academia, making it a soft target for people like Christopher Rufo to abuse.

Ali has conveniently left out that Harvard Crimson, Harvard's own student newspaper has looked into the evidence posted and concluded that Gay's works DO violate the plagiarism standards Harvard requires its student to abide by. Harvard students are routinely suspended or even expelled for doing the same things. Can any university hold its president to a lower standard than 19 years old kids without inviting ridicule?

Inadequate citation means the author is not claiming the statement in question as her own while fails to assign adequate acknowledgement to the “original” author. This is especially commonplace when the author assumes a statement is widely known by the people in that subject or she is still discussing/reviewing past studies. She and her reviewers shouldve been more rigorous but to be fair, it’s definitely not stealing other’s idea like the conman said.
