TTT, that was a great review. You answered all of the questions that I had in my head after reasing the specs and seeing a few videos posted up on line. The balance of the bike, lightness in motion, power- you answered them all. Also, underneath your voice was the sound of the motor (needs aftermarket pipes- agreed!) and, even though it's kind of heavy, it still makes a nice sail with a cross breeze. But, for me, not a problem, as my present cruiser weighs in at 485 Lbs (220 KG), with an even larger windshield and hardbags. Also, good to know that the footboards don't scrape too easily on curves or roundabouts. But, I like the look of the Speedmaster, and the included tacho- so, that may be the way for me to go!nThanks again- very informative & well appreciated.

I picked up my new LT a few weeks ago and love it so far. It's true, it is a real head turner. My only complaints are things like no center stand and the need to remove the bags to crank up the spring tension on the rear shocks for riding double. Oh, and the sight glass for checking the oil. Unless you're a contortionist it's a two person job because of the lack of a center stand and the need for the bike to be off the kick stand and upright.

Good review. Although mine is an '08' that I bought new, and is carbureted, I've logged over 44,000 miles on it here in the states. I ride it everyday I can to work, 40mi. round trip, and take a 2 to 3 thousand mile trip every summer. Great all around machine. I think I'll keep it. Hope to have it as long as Lunmad! Type that into KZread, you'll see what I mean.

In August of 2015 I wanted to purchase a new motorcycle but couldn't decide between the Indian Scout, the Harley-Davidson 48, or the Harley-Davidson Iron 883. I knew I would need to add a windscreen because I frequently ride in colder weather, and saddlebags to carry items. However, even the HD Iron 883 totaled more than 10,000 USD with these options. Then I came across an advertisement for a brand new 2014 Triumph America LT leftover. When I saw the price it was a done deal: 7,069 USD. Your review is very well done and covers almost everything. A few things I think you could have mentioned are the quick-release feature of the windscreen ( I usually take mine off when riding around town ), the fuel mileage and tank capacity. Anyway, great video and I hope you plan on doing more.

I have a 2014 also. I agree, after looking at several other bikes the Triumph seemed like the best deal, plus, being from the Milwaukee area I didn't want a Harley, I didn't want to ride what everyone else was riding. By the way, I average 48mpg on mine.

+ Wayne Novotny Nice. I average close to 55 mpg combined highway and city riding which with the 5.15 gallon fuel tank gives a fantastic range. Also, the ability to use regular unleaded rather than premium saves a bit of money over the course of a year.

Good review. I have a 2012 which I bought new and fitted with the short pipes (you can hear them on my videos) which I think makes the bike a whole lot better. I love the bike apart from the quality of the wheels. Despite doing what is recommended in the handbook, after 6 months I couldn't get them looking as good as they should. Triumph are interested. They took my money and the after service wasn't as I expected either. I would still recommend the bike as a relatively cheap to run cruiser.

I sure love my America! Easy handling, powerful as heck, beautiful to look at, and a BLAST to ride... My only suggestion is (we went 120 miles today!), this guy is right, too much glare from that chrome center console and off the windshield, it is really harsh in full sun, and the chrome center console also makes seeing the turn signal very difficult-you'll find yourself driving for blocks with the blinker on. AND like he said, small probs compared to an amazing ride!!!

You'll find if you keep turning the fuel cap it should eventually click to stop it coming undone, but don't over do the clicks in closing it or you won't get it undone, lol, I normally just use two clicks and its never come off without me undoing the fuel cap.

I would like to know more about touring, since it is the touring model. Regarding different exhaust note... while I guess I understand people like to feel powerful as if they are masters of the universe, taming raw power, breaking a wild mustang and turning it into controlled galloping spirited horse etc etc. I actually like the sound of the stock. It sounds like it should on the video anyway. I am somewhat tall. Now, my major decision is this bike or..CTX700. I am not 'big on big motors'. I like to cruize at most like around 70 mph on American expressways, 55mph on the back roads (112-88 kph). I want to go all day long, but do not want gigantic motor to do it. Actually, the smaller motor and larger the 'stretch' ad the more comfy and the more quiet the more I want it.

This will sound strange, but- they are very different bikes at the end of the day. The CTX is a low revver, but, it's a great bike (Honda reliability anyone?). Note- it's not for everyone, but, based on what you do, and, preferred riding scenarios- it may be ideal for you. I really, really recommend riding one AND the America as well. BOTH can mount saddlebags...for touring. Also, Honda is offering a CVT type of transmission on this bike, with 7 'gears'- that you may find interesting as well. There are several scooter aspects to the Honda- not a bad thing by any means. Good luck picking- they are both great motorcycles.

Great review ... I love these bikes, (Triumph America 2011 and on, value for bucks).. They changed a little in 2011 here in Australia, prolly different in your neck of the woods... I had my shorty exhausts modified by a local guy near home, sounds better , also ya can pick up a new tacho from your triumph dealer for under $200 AUD, tacho just plugs straight in , you will see it in this short vid as well as the sound of my pipes, but to be honest no video does the sound of pipes justice. kzread.info/dash/bejne/lauAutuiecS0gZM.html

So I got this 2005 triumph speed master, yeah, the ignition key is in a stupid place, put it up front so I can see my keys...but I spend all this money, adding a fairing, adding saddle bags I made my self, and I could have just bought a Triumph America LT with all that stuff standard? Great..oh, I am in America :) I hope your bike has twin disk breaks up front, the new speed master went to one disk up front. (Hey Triumph you morons, ever ride your own bikes? Its great to stop on a dime when someone just moves into your lane). The bike is great! the center of gravity is low, and stop winning about the pipes. There is a lot more to complain about. Like the on the speedmaster the shifting and peds are too far forward, wish I had bought the America, and hell, heavy? Not even! I downgraded from a yamaha Royal dog of 1198cc. this bike is 300 pounds lighter (and easier to push when it quits!). Fun bike to ride! A nice bike to compete with them jap rice burners....
