@lightsandsirens5 This House Fire call was located in Zone 47Charlie. If all units are in quarters the response is Battalion 2, Battalion 13, EMS 29, Engine 47, Engine 8, Engine 2, Ladder 2, Rescue 47 or 247 depending on which is closer or in quarters. This makes Engine 2 the 3rd due Engine. Station 2/8 is located about 3 to 4 miles away from the scene.

actually we were called for a house fire. i think we were the 3rd engine on scene. usual response times are 2-3min i think.

As someone who is not involved with public safety, I have to say, these videos share with the public an inside look into not only how you guys do your jobs, but how you get this heavy equipment there. Your lives are in danger from the minute you leave the station until you get back. Thanks to all who answer these calls. Thanks for protecting our lives and property at 4AM or 4PM. That's cool u got to go on a ride along.. there's a fire department down the street from where I live I doubt they'd let u go on a ride along or at least not tape it lol. Here they drive like there on fire but don't usually have to deal with as much traffic as these guys. good video

i wonder what point of don't block the sidewalks do they not get because because i saw nothing but sidewalks being blocked and people not pulling over for emergency vehicles not even stopping for them and continuing to making the turn.

what more importan getting to the mall for a Hot Date,etc and getting a ticket or slowing down Emergency vehicle for someone that is in trouble and or the House is burning?

you out run your siren about about 55 miles an hour. You probably weren't goin that fast but you have to remember how cars are made with the sound proofing and the stereos no ones gonna hear that little siren, Put that Q on with the airhorn and they will know the good ol boys are comin!

@ghostlylighthouses the fire department responds to medial calls because they are trained in emergency care and they are able to be on scene sometime as much as 10 min before ems. also somethings with heavier people or awkward area's the fire department will assist in the removal. as for the GPS question i have no idea different departments have different rig's some new older so it's hard to say even if this is a new rig.

The trucks should be able to take pictures of vehicle plates and have a ticket issued.

I agree man! I always pull over for any emergency vehicle! Even if it's on the other direction of traffic because who knows they may need to turn around! I live in southern OK and people around here don't pull over for emergency vehicles either but I'm one of the few whether it's fire, ambulance, or police I pull over

The police officer at 2:36 should of pulled the stupid driver at 2:22 for not yielding.

1. most of the time no, the driver and officer should know where they're going, if not, they could use a map or gps, what ever they have. 2. its because of how the runs are set up, and like u said a firetruck came first, sometimes an ambulance is tied up and the firefighters can do first aid and get cpr started

@mike4405 Thank you so much that means so much to us and its an honor to work for the people one day we might have to rescue. I work at the 33rd busiest station and there is not a day that goes by that I woul ever say I hate my job.Its comments like that, that make me love it even more

I suggest all fire apparatus be equipped with huge steel ram bumpers in front and you simply push the cars out of the way that don't understand PULL TO RIGHT AND STOP. Then when the cops show up to deal with the MVA the offender immediately looses their license for not yielding the right of way. Thank you guys for what you do! Keep it up!

i am not a firefighter yet, but i can possibly try to answer this for you... In the states today, alot of firefighters both paid and vols are required to be EMT, medics as well.. they send the engine out with the ambulance for medical calls to help the medics with the calls. the ambulance may not carry the equipment that the medics are carrying, but the truck does. they do that here in my city. I hope this clears everything for you

i noticed that they created new engines and ladders. but the pierce quantum trucks are still in service but the took off there numbers. now they have two new engine 2s but they are not pierce quantums. so they took out the old pierce quantums out so now they use the quantums fore extra trucks . the also got rid of the old rescue trucks but they got a new tower 2

I don't think any of you realize how much different driving a fire truck is. With all that heavy equipment and the shear weight, it's quite a challenge. Not to mention 500 gallons of water in the back.

Hi, I have a few questions for fire fighters. 1.Do you guys use a GPS to find the house? 2.How come fire trucks respond to medical emergencies, for example.I had 3 seizures, and each time I had one, not only did the ambulance come, but the fire truck came too.And when my brother passed out, a fire truck arrived first.
