*DOUBLE MASSIVE RV FIRE* - LAFD Engine 17 & Engine 25 (Boyle Heights)
Los Angeles Fire Department Engine 17 was dispatched to the intersection of 7th Place and Mission Road for reports of a vehicle fire. They arrived to find two large RVs fully involved with fire. An additional engine (Engine 25) was requested. The fire was extinguished with hand lines and the wagon battery. No injuries were reported.

This was a clear-cut case for using a master stream. This wasn't just a car fire; this was the equivalent of a couple of small semi trucks going up with multiple exposures. Good for the LAFD for busting out the deck gun here - it knocked the fire down in under a minute.

Mad respect for LAFD, as they are an aggressive and impressive department. That said, seemed a little lackluster. Seemed pump pressures were low, not a ton of hustle. Know they were just RV's....
It is baffling how long it takes to get a decent stream of water on a fire in these major metro areas. These fire departments have BILLIONS of dollars of equipment, lots of trained personnel and they roll up to fires and it's like watching the three stooges most of the time. Mass confusion. Not sure I've seen one of these videos where it appears a highly oiled machine is working. For those in the know, go ahead and blast away. Educate me on the ins and outs of fire fighting. I know what I would do - GET WATER ON THAT SUMBISH ASAP.

I never understood why we don't have hose reels on our rigs here where you could get some water on a fire in seconds while the rest of the guys wait until the place is burned to the ground before they get water on it. If you watch enough US fire videos, you'll see time and again a small fire that could be attacked upon arrival if they were so equipped that could be greatly mitigated while the hoses get up and running. It's infuriating. That deck gun was a great help in this case.

Good thinking on the deck gun strategy, 2 RV fires that potentially have propane tanks and 2 automobiles next to them plus the building. When in doubt always better to go for the big lines!!!!!
DECK GUN !! Would have used it first. Stretching the lines down the street next to RVs is dangerous. Propane tanks there can cook off.
