    Yea he thinks he's some genius comedian when he wrote 2 great TV shows and everything else has just been kinda meh. What's truly hilarious is if you ever watch the show where him, Louie , Seinfeld and Chris Rock discuss comedy and it's bizarre to think he even considers himself in there league in terms of stand up.

    I've heard this myth many times that there was a falling out. I've never seen a shred of evidence, and I find it highly unlikely to be true. I think one person just speculated somewhere online, and others took that as a fact. I'd be willing to bet big money they're all still mates, and they're all just busy with their own projects.

It's weird getting stuck there, in that place, when you like a product, but the actors and writer(s), producers etc made it funny too. Probably more so... Or is that me making excuses? I love "Smooth Criminal" -that bassline..But I can't shake the fact that sharing a bed with children must be a bit... off piste y'know? Also I read this awesome interview with a pornstar who said "the casting couch is very real, and it doesn't stop... so I'd rather do it when I want to, rather than to get a chance of a part!" You can tell when hes on hes just having fun n shooting the shit now imagine him being "INTERVIEWED" by stern oh yeah I can hear jokes flying now. Your right he should go on n have an unfunny appearance on a show he doesn't care about doing just for the fuck of it. Really just listen to what he said in this clip. He talks about wanting to be more of a stand up than all then other shit. So think about why would he wanna go on stern n try to get thru it n figure out the chemistry on the spot with some1 uve never done radio with n hope it will actually be funny which stern hasnt been for atleast a decade. Not that jim n sam is always hilarious but ricky is when hes on so.

    They make a fair point (and Patrice did too, a while back) about excusing someone's behavior because we like their product. However, if we are going to boycott, we should go all the way; not only should we not watch movies or music created by rapists/pedophiles, but we should also apply that logic across the board. We know about conditions in Apple factories in China, for instance, so we should no longer use Apple products. We know that the clothes that we buy are made in sweatshops throughout India and Asia, so we should stop buying them. Basically, if we stopped using every product that was made by someone who did something terrible, we would be back to candles, horses, and hand-written letters. Louis CK's bit about "Of course, but maybe" had an ending about this very concept. In my mind, living in today's f*cked up society means that we inevitably use something created by a monster who inflicted human suffering (either to create the product, or for their own pleasure). Personally, I can like a product without liking the creator, and have accepted that existing in today's world means indirectly supporting the suffering of others, by buying products from monsters. I guess I might not reluctantly accept it if I could get those same products from someone who isn't a monster, but no one else made that music or movie, and every corporation selling phones and clothes is equally guilty. Essentially, there are no good options, so we shouldn't act as though we are outraged by one monster, while ignoring another (like these guys said about calling out Weinstein, but praising Polanski). Either they all deserve to be called out, and we just suffer without good music/movies or affordable phones/clothes, or we accept that this is the world that we live in, and that those profiting at the top are almost always monsters (you don't get to the heights of power without doing monstrous things to get ahead).

  • @quantumperception

    @quantumperception

    6 жыл бұрын

    +CalvinSomething Please enlighten me: to what assumptions do you refer? Also, I used "we" to refer to society as a whole- how is that arrogant? Also, how is what I said wrong in your opinion, when I am just expanding on what Patrice, Jim, Denis, and Sam have all said about Polanski, Jackson, etc.? The concept being, in all cases: "Can we look past the monster creating the thing that we love, or do their monstrous acts mean we should eschew their products?

  • @quantumperception

    @quantumperception

    6 жыл бұрын

    +CalvinSomething Wherein did I speak for society? I didn't say "We are this" or "We believe that", which would be speaking for society. I said my opinion on what "we" as a society should do- apply that logic equally. It is the same thing that the comics I named said. I am not speaking FOR our society, I am speaking about what I think society should do. Vast difference. I would agree that, if I said that I spoke for our society, that would be arrogant; however, giving my opinion on what our society should do isn't arrogant- everyone has opinions about what our society should do. That is why politics exist- because people have ideas of what we should do as a society. Again, since you seemed to miss the point, my whole argument was merely that we shouldn't cherry-pick our outrage, and that we should apply standards equally/evenly. I went a bit further in explaining that I don't see many good options for boycotting horrible people that make good movies/music/clothes/phones, but the main point was about applying outrage over monstrous acts to some, while ignoring others. And again, it concurred with the comics' views on the matter.

  • @quantumperception

    @quantumperception

    6 жыл бұрын

    +CalvinSomething Wow. I guess I should have noticed before that you were trolling, given the ridiculousness of what you were saying. Thinking about what we as a society should do is arrogant? Then everyone on the face of the planet is arrogant, since we all talk about things that we think are f*cked up in society, or how it should change. I am not sure how a rational person could think anything I said had to do with supporting dictatorships, but again, it is becoming clear that you are just trolling, and do not have a legitimate point. Lastly, the monstrous acts to which I refer are pedophilia, rape, and exploitation boarding on slavery; I think most people think of these things as monstrous, but if you can justify them, then perhaps you should worry about supporting a dictatorship (because they often support these monstrous acts). Also, nothing in my argument was emotional- it was purely rational/logical. Clearly, I am more informed on the subject than you are, since you seem to have no idea about which you speak, and continue to devolve into personal attacks, rather than making a logical counterpoint. If you can muster an actually reasonable argument, then perhaps I will respond; if you continue this trend of baseless assertions and antagonistic insults, I will realize you are trolling, and disregard any further posts.

    James Corden messed up big time, the jokes were indeed sloppy and the punchlines were predictable. He should take a look at Russell Brand’s ability to tackle a tough subject well.

    What a weird comment. This is Ricky's type of thing, he likes this type of format sometimes, honest, raw comedians hanging out. Ever.seen the Ricky Jervais Show? Or "Talking Funny" with Seinfeld, Chris Rock, and Louis CK? Or his specials? And he also has this format on the Opie and Anthony radio show, and other places with other comedians. This is basically an interview, at least this section; it's not meant to make you laugh as it's primary goal; it's just conversation and a sort of "inside view" (the whole premise behind "The Office". and many of his works, incidentally). And he IS philosophical about comedy and, in his own words, an "auteur"(which I'd probably agree with for sure), but he is also self-deprecating, I understand if you don't get him or like him, but the blanket statement "podcasts are ruining stand up" doesn't make sense to me. Comedy has always been evolving and growing, and it's diverse. Podcasts are a different thing, but it's part of the whole thing. It allows for insight into what the guest thinks and feels about topic with less "jokes",again- akin to an interview like on a late show, but without the pressure to be funny every second. If you don't care what they think and find no entertainment value, then just don't watch podcasts.

    I'm glad Ricky couldn't make the IRA joke work. Serves him right for stealing it from Stewart Lee, whose audience got it. Either they are older or better educated.
