Karl is right about his tomatoes. Wealthy Europeans used pewter plates, which were high in lead content. Because tomatoes are so high in acidity, when placed on this particular tableware, the fruit would leach lead from the plate, resulting in many deaths from lead poisoning. No one made this connection between plate and poison at the time; the tomato was picked as the culprit. Around 1880, with the invention of the pizza in Naples, the tomato grew widespread in popularity in Europe.

The jingle that Smerch and Ricky came up with on the fly was amazing. This three really do have the perfect chemistry.
Ricky: WA WA-WA WA-WAAH WAAH, WA WA-WA WA-WAAH WAAH, DINGA-LILINGA-LILINGA-LILINGA-LILING!!!! Steve: Educating Ricky. 😂
I love when Karl almost breaks character. And by that I mean he sometimes realizes he is full of it, almost goes on a laughing fit, but the stories are just too golden not to share so he soldiers on.

'Fuck you' is a shortened version of 'go fuck yourself,', a phrase that originated around the 90's. 'Up yours' had the same meaning, in a way - it meant put your dick up your arse. Weird insult, yes, but so is 'wanker', which is really just someone who masturbates a lot. And most adult men who don't have partners masturbate a lot. 'Taking the piss', apparently came from morning erections. A morning erection is often caused by a full bladder - whilst kids will just pee the bed, adults will often get an erection, preventing them peeing easily. As they have an erection, their penis looks larger than usual (for many men, but especially those who are "growers"). Removing their urine involves their erect penis returning to its flaccid state, thus (again in most men) making it smaller. Therefore taking the piss out of someone was related to saying they had a small penis.

Karl was right about tomatoes being poisonous because of lead plates. In the late 1700s, European Aristocrats ate tomatoes off of pewter plates, which had high lead content. Tomato acid leached lead off the plates, and people got lead poisoning as they consumed the food.

I had a friend in college who could grow essentially a full beard in a day. He went to a military for one PG year after high school. Students were required to be clean-shaven. He would shave in the morning and then have to run back to his room after lunch and shave again so he didn't get a demerit.

As far as I remember Ricky and Steve did a Saturday show at a station called XFM. Karl was their producer. Wasn’t supposed to have a role on the show but they gradually “discovered” him and eventually, in fact rather quickly, he is essentially a 3rd host.
