RICKY GERVAIS IS DEADLY SIRIUS
Комедия
Episode 39 - Ricky chats with Jerry Seinfeld and Ron Bennington.
The thirty-ninth episode of Ricky's radio show on Sirius XM.
Ricky Gervais is Deadly Sirius: Ricky with comedian chums and eminent guests discussing the big issues. Entertaining, thought-provoking, and often taboo-crunching chat about ethics, science and art; interspersed with utter bollocks and the greatest songs of all time.

Jerry: "It's not about me‒" Ricky: "I THINK IT'S NOT ABOUT ME TOO. THAT'S WHAT I THINK. I THINK THAT. IT'S NOT ABOUT ME. ME, ME, ME."
Not the biggest fan of Jerry Seinfeld but you have to say he’s the only person in this entire series who’s been able to maintain any level of control over Ricky

@@heavymetalrybakina I would certainly not refer to Jerry Seinfeld as 'down-to-Earth'; he has led a very cossetted life, supported at every point. He even says here that he considers him and his peers as above the average person in terms of what they talk about. He is very far removed from anyone with a blue-collar job, whereas Ricky at least has moved in those circles for many years. Plus, your dismissiveness of the left-wing and implied suggestion that wanting to make the world better is wrong is quite alarming.

"You're not that good!" was my favourite. (43:41 but Ron sets it up from 43:06) I love all Ricky's stand up specials but he never really acknowledges that Ron and Jerry and a thousand other great comics got good by grinding and honing their act for years while he started out with a huge audience primed to laugh at everything he says. Jerry follows up by referencing a George Carlin bit and Ricky doesn't know what he's talking about. This was still a great listen but I get why people like Jeselnik don't like Ricky talking about stand-up like he's a veteran.

Ugh... so refreshing to hear King Jerry disagree with Ricky. Previous guests just pander to him and let him rant and demand his opinion be heard. Big fan of Ricky and not hating on the format. I cannot believe Ricky is still repeating these same old platitudes about meta-comedy.. He’s just repeating them over and over again year after year after year AFTER YEAR.
I get the impression from listening to these shows that this is a form of therapy for Ricky. He really only ever talks about himself, and the other people just have to wait until he finishes.

Internet people are funny. You literally have no idea what you're talking about. You don't know either of them. You don't know if they still are okay with each other. You don't know how much of a 'character' either of them is. You don't know who said what first/how much of it is 'shared material'. Also, Trustfull was wrong since you can see Karl on a comedy TV show in 2002 or whatever and he just made his own new TV show using a lot of stories/jokes from the old podcast days, which proves he wants to be famous/doing work and that they both use material from XFM, etc.

Ricky Gervais explicitly refers to that series as his own without ever mentioning his co writer and director. This subsequently presents a false narrative of the past and shows a lack of respect to the person who co-created one of the greatest comedies of all time.

Need that 2019 fix please.
Jerry is right that by continuing to do the same bit for years would undoubtedly make that bit better and more crafted. But what if Hemingway kept re-writing and publishing The Old Man and the Sea every year for ten years, or The Beatles put out The White Album ten different times? They'd undoubtedly be better finished products than the first iterations but that isn't how art works.
@CORNISHDUDE

ok use the broad 'art' term if you want, fact is stand up comedy is unique in this sense. But up to an unknown and differing point for each Comedian, some guys have been doing the same lazy material for decades but its not evolving. The reason Ricks first 4 or so stand up specials were scrambled messes was the fact he just wrote them then went on tour.

One feels obliged to admit that this particular edition was more interesting than previous ones, even though Mr.Gervais still cannot seem to contain his habit of constantly interrupting the conversation like an over-excited child. Unfortunate then, that many editions have proved to be a wasteland of interminable sludge. 'tis quite extraordinary really. How has the co-writer of "Extras" overall become such an excruciating bore? Could this possibly be the unfortunate result of prostituting oneself to the ugly, abominable God shaped like a dollar sign? Indeed, the dullness of previous episodes have reminded me of a mind-numbingly event one attended in Bristol in December 2011, at the Clifton Hall Of Delights, in aid of listening to a speech by Tony Blair!! This dreadful night was attended by such insufferable jokes as Jeff Bezos, Jacob Rees-Mogg, Alan Sugar, John Berkow(& his awful wife), Prince Harry, Barry from Watford, and interestingly Stephen Merchant, who was then suffering from ergophobia, and used to regularly attend such events dressed up in drag with two pumpkins stuffed down his front, referring to himself as Miss Polly Darton! Indeed Stephen approached me during the interval, stating that he'd been drinking too much since his girlfriend had left him for drinking too much! I had to tell him in no uncertain terms that I wasn't in the least bit interested. Anyway, Blair arrogantly used to begin his speech in French, just to confuse the non Gallic minded people out there, explaining that it is the Dromedary camel which has but one hump, and therefore the sainted Bactrian camel which proceeds to wander across the desert in search of - Ã Travers Des Visions De L'åme Éternelle - which has two. He proceeded to lecture us with his concerns regarding the Science Of Morality over Evolutionary Biology, and it's ever more required necessity in this post Laurence Stephen Lowry world of Industrial Psychosis. How is it, he pompously asked, that he oftentimes felt the need to give such speeches whilst firmly grasping hold of his Bhagavad Gita?..for was it not the great blue Lord Krishna itself who declared it does not believe in atheists, nor even the concept of time and space, whilst floating upon existential clouds of expression, listening to "7 Rooms Of Gloom" by The Four Tops!? Dear God, what a frightfully bullish evening 'twas! Indeed, upon returning home to one's plush penthouse suite, what could one possibly do, but chop out a few eight inch lines of the finest nostril dust, and watch one's favourite Candy Samples porno DVD? It was, I'm afraid, a most hedonistic and un-dignified end to the night's proceedings!
Haha when I read it years ago I assumed his middle name was French because of his last name looking somewhat French.
I really hope Ricky sticks to writing new material for each new show, rather than following Seinfields opinion. I really enjoy looking forward to new content from Ricky, and I have actually seen pretty much everything he has done. I think a lot of people have if they enjoy his work.

I'm surprised by this talk of happily repeating a routine. As Ricky says, I thought it was a common thing in comedy that you have to make up a new act now and again, cos folk don't want repeats!

Seinfeld is so wrong about doing the same material over and over. I want the new stuff every time. Eddie Murphy's Delirious or Raw tours where hilarious and I'd love to see him pick up the Mic again, but if he came back now and did material from is two old tours I'd be really disappointed if turned Netflix on and it was him doing the classics. but if I'd pay'd for tickets and all the other costs of a night out just to see old material I'd probably never go and see that comedian again.
