It is enormously encouraging to see that there are people and cultures who have not abandoned meaningful traditions, giving in to cynicism. Familial and community events are far more important than the shallow (usually commercial) trends of more "advanced" countries (such as ours in the U.S.) Thank you, Rick, for bringing this together so nicely.

You don’t need to believe in god to honor traditions (whether religious or not) that have significant cultural meaning.

@@melianna999 But there are a lot of ancient traditions that celebrate Spring in the same days. The very Christian Easter is an evolution of the Jewish Pesach, since Jesus died and resurrected around those days. And anyway, there are a lot of traditions that don't need any religious faith, such as national holidays: the 4th July for USA, the 14th July for France, the 25th April for Italy, etc. Or international holidays such Labour Day or Women's Day.

This completely reverses the meaning of the original psalm that Jesus was quoting: "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far from saving me, so far from my cries of anguish? 2 My God, I cry out by day, but you do not answer, by night, but I find no rest." And for a Catholic there's no contradiction, since Jesus is true God AND true Man, so it's only right he had to experience ALSO the feeling of being forsaken by God that any human experiences at least some times in his/her life.

  • @elisehougesen6871

No it does not negate the Psalm that points to Christ. It merely confirms that Jesus was always conscious of His Divinity & triumphed over The Cross. God never forgets Himself & God never forsakes Himself.

Then you can live in your gated community without anyone different from yourself. How holy. No doubt you'll be so bored, you'll find fault with your own and make up new, 'divine' punishments for them too. @@JoellHedges-dm1mu

Hi Rick, the only bit of info that needs a little clarification is when you mentioned that the holy communion catholics receive is symbolic. It is actually not symbolic, but thru the miracle of transubstantiation, the bread and wine, at the words of the priest actually become the body and blood of Jesus. You can look up eucharistic miracles for more proof of this - in addition to John 6. But loved this video!

No mention at all of Easter in Germany, the Scandinavian countries, or the British Isles. No mention of Easter eggs from Poland or Ukraine, which are (in my opinion) the most beautiful in all of Europe. Oh well, one can do only so much in a single hour.

All those traditions, cancelled the Word of God, said Jesus. To be saved you have to be born again, to enter in the Kingdom of God ! Whithout repentance, there is no, new birth et if you are not born again by the Spirit of God, you are not saved ! The cross and the death of Jesus, send us the message of repentance ! This is what each person must understand et do, by receivinbg Jesus as their Savior and their Lord! Amen! That message you can read it in the Bible ( John 3 verses 1 to 5 ) Amen !

That was a very beautiful video but I am wondering if the Christians in Gaza will be celebrating this Easter? As one of their pastors said-- they have been betrayed by the Christians around the world, especially in the vatican . Also with the Armenian Christians in Jerusalem be able to get back their land from the Jew who stole it?
