I remember back when Richard came back from his big accident with the jet car how he asked that they never mention the accident on top gear. And it's nice to see how they were true mates, there's barely any clips from tg.

It's important to realize that all three of them are also the authors of the series. A lot of jokes are pre-written (Which is not a bad thing, very few people are always funny on the spot), and they will have discussions about them and which jokes are OK to make, especially about each other. So if there was anything that Hammond did not to go on air, he would have been able to object to it. That being said, both Jeremy and James were pretty worried about him after the crash and were affected by it, too, so I don't think they would have liked to really joke about it while it was still fresh on everyones minds. Jeremy even wrote a funny text message to Richards wife every day while Richard was in hospital, to keep her spirits up.

@@TetraDax Again, this are 3 relatable idiots who make you appreciate the fact that you also like to be idiots with your friends and jokes about stuffs once it pass. I had the same type of conversation with a friend about games and tech and does this sort of jokes about things we did long ago too (amost in the same manner Clarkson and May speak off. While His brother Reminds me to Hammond). In a way, they know what to talk and what to not talk about as well. Even some of their jokes, guests and skit are painful to watch in light of some events (like the time Amber Herd went there. Now day she is seen as a total bitch due what she does to Johnny Deep. Or how they joke about Hammond crashing due his tend to risk a lot before that happen).

Sorry to rain on your little parade, but I’d just like to point out that the bit where Jeremy goes “‘You have a blowout on the motorway..’ one for you here Hammond.” That was 3 episodes/weeks after they promised “Never again”. It would’ve been 2 but one episode was the American Driving Holiday Special

My favorite joke is the one where he rolled the van. If he is dead and you fancy a job at Top Gear why not write us at "I'm better than Richard Hammond was..."

I love the way the cameraman kept focusing on the damage Richard did to the Ferrari when he hit the bollard.

There is another moment, I cannot remember what they were doing, but Hammond was driving round a track and Jeremy turned to James and told him “His wife (Mindy) called me this morning and told me if he (Hammond) crashes again, she is divorcing him!” 😂😂

Clarkson and May can be brutal when roasting Hammond, but give the little guy mad props, he takes the abuse like a champ, and keeps on laughing along with them. These three guys genuinely love one another(in a platonic way, obviously), and it shows.

From my understanding, most of the crash-related jokes are planned in advance and run past Hammond before filming, to make sure he's okay with them. That was definitely their off-camera agreement on Top Gear, and I doubt they would've changed that for TGT.

Clarkson: "Can we never ever mention the jet dragster crash again?" Also Clarkson: (references it dozens of times, along with the other two referencing it)

If I recall, on Top Gear, when he came back, they were like "And he made sure to tell us he didn't want us making a big deal of his recovery or him coming back or anything else..." and then the camera panned to a bunch of dancers and a red carpet and all the rest for his return. XD

It is ironic that in one of the early episodes of TG Hammond explained with a toy car what the differences are between crashing due to oversteer and understeer. Than he continously shows that neither has to occur to crash...

Favorite one is where Hamster sort of roast himself in a moment of self-awareness when he rolled into that ditch in Mongolia and you hear him yell reassuringly, "It's alright. I'm used to this!" 😂 He's got a sense of humor about himself and he owns it. Really, though, at the end of the day, we're all just glad the man is still alive.

For his first major crash (dragster), his height is a major contributor to his survival. His head is just below the rollover cage.

He wouldn’t crash so much if he could see over the steering wheel, he just needs a booster seat

Hammond's crash must be the only running joke that has crossed over from Top Gear to Grand Tour.

They redid the "bet" with the Supercar trifecta (918, P1, LaFerrari), and as last time the P1 lost. The terms of the bet, in order to avoid the BBC knocking, was changed from changing Jeremy's name, to blowing up his house.

The fact Hamster crashes only in curves, makes him the perfect American.

1:17 this was the episode after Hammond came back from his first big crash in the jet car. His front right tyre blew out.

Richard is a damn good sport considering he nearly died twice. The Vampire and Rimac were both really serious accidents.

The upside down car photo is the first thing in many many moons that made me spit my beer from my nose....

Just as well Hammond has a good sense of humour about it all.

I'm glad they're all so close to constantly mock each other for this, it just makes me so anxious that i can hardly stand it but a lot of good moments do come from this

You forget the time when Hammond test a Porsche Cayenne, he crash into camera car on opposite direction. The other one when he test the Ferrari F360, he spun the Ferrari. May made fun of it said that's why it's called F360 because you went "F*******kk" and then do a 360...😂😂

I don't know which is more brutal, Hammond's crashes or the jokes about his crashes.

Remember at the end of Series 9 Episode 1 when Hammond asked (and they all agreed) that they'll never mention his crash on the show again? 1:17 well, it took Jezza two episodes before he did 😆
