I would never click on anything related to this woman unless you were covering her 😂 All of your opinions and observations were spot on! BF has lost the plot. I am not a Chanel customer (by choice) and there are plenty of reasons to drag Chanel through the mud, as you noted. HOWEVER, as a critical public, we still need to be fair or we will never be taken seriously regarding our legitimate complaints. It feels like this was a moment for her to jump on a bandwagon in order to get attention. I live 3 blocks from the Chanel store in Chicago and it feels kind of false that the company's response was to point to the criminality of the area (the uber wealthy Michigan Ave/Gold Coast district). If they are pointing to smash&grab type situations, not sure how that would apply to letting any single woman in a store? I am not a famous/known person (thankfully) and still, I am able to gain entry to the area luxury stores (including Hermes), here in Chicago, after sometimes waiting for a short time outside! I have never felt compelled to dress like a Mafia wife in order to be admitted; I have always been dressed in more of an effortlessly chic way and have still been let in! 💕🙏🏼🤷🏻‍♀

I call BS on her. When I went to exact Chanel with my husband (we were dressed nice but nothing branded). The guard asked us if we had an appointment and we said no and he asked if we were looking for anything specific and I said yes. He let us in and the loveliest SA helped me with the ballerinas and offered to show us more but we were in a hurry to get ready for a family wedding. I feel like they wanted real clients and not browsers. BTW… it was a Saturday and there was no line.

So if you don’t live in Chicago it’s hard to say. I hate the Chanel in Chicago. The one in Neiman Marcus is okay. But the actual store is horrible. As a minority we are treated TERRIBLY there especially as a black woman. They have a major issue and I’m not surprised they let her in when she was dressed up. This is the same Chanel that when I was a CHILD, 13 y/o laughed at me for “not being able to afford a $13,000 bag” and that I shouldn’t be in there if I couldn’t afford it. Keep in mind I never told them I couldn’t afford it. Even as a child I knew that was a laughable amount for a bag at Chanel. I was like …for this? That’s crazy. I was in there alone bc I had my dad’s card and he told me I could get my first Chanel. This was a long time ago. The guard and the sales associate were humiliating me, a child. I’ve only ever had terrible experiences in there. Tried to give them another chance again when I was 16, still mean associates, tried again at 18, still mean. And the last time I ever tried was when I was 21 and there was NO change. Most of my other minority friends have had similar experiences.

First off I’m not going to cry for her.😂😂😂 Secondly I think she was trying to appeal to the “common folk”. My opinion only but if she was snubbed from the boutique I think she wants to let people know that it’s really offensive to ignore people just because they don’t look like they have “Chanel money”. I know she went back the next day in probably what was a Chanel suit (or look alike as I hear after watching further) looking all expensive and they let her in. This is quite common practice in the luxury market. If you don’t look like you can afford the brand sales associates often won’t give you the time of day. Maybe this was an AHA moment for her. I know when I carry a luxury bag I am approached quickly and sales associates are very charming. I think many look at it as wasting their time if they attend to someone they don’t think will buy. If they’re working off commission only I can understand it but it doesn’t make it right. She also did the little nod to Pretty Woman about making mistakes not catering to her the first day while she carries all her purchases.😂 I confess I’m not a Chanel client so I don’t know their protocol.🥰

I’m not a fan of hers or a hater. I’ve never watched Real Housewives. To be clear though, she went the first time on a Tuesday afternoon. No line, because she said the SA inside opened the door and snootily asked if she had an appointment and told her to come back when she did. Not “please wait,” but “please leave.” And yes, that happens to plenty of people, so I’m uninterested tbh in speculating exactly what the word exchange was. “Please wait” is fine, even outside, due to security risks. Honestly, if I was betting though, I’d guess it was the big water jug and bag of popcorn she was toting around more than her clothes. Who brings stuff that can spill into a luxury store? Anyway, I am hopeful this social convo gets redirected because I’ve had friends who are POC very obviously denied entry, rude SAs openly questioning their ability to afford anything in their store, etc. Bethenny’s tiny taste of that life needs to be more appropriately redirected by the media to the stories of people who’ve had to drink in that discrimination by the gallons.

I was waiting for this! There was a time I got in during an extremely busy day where they did NOT allow anyone in or even wait. It was only because my sub SA forgot to schedule me in… and I showed them my text message showing my appointment. The manager had to approve me and I waited 20 minutes. Other than that they were NOT letting anyone in at all. They turned down a guy next to me and he was upset and asked for a manager. Manager said sorry we won’t have anyone to help you, all the SA’s are fully booked for the rest of the day. One time I waited 30 min because I did not have an appointment. I don’t dress too nicely when I go to my local boutique because people get followed and get robbed. I go in with my sweats and baby yoda shirt without a bag and get treated fine. It just depends on the SA. So far I have encountered only one rude one. The process of getting in if you’re a regular is not complicated, if ykyk! ❤ you Dacob 😊

So, annoying Bethany had her "Pretty Woman" moment. I haven't set foot in a Chanel boutique since long before Lagerfeld died and appointments became necessary. I went off the brand years ago. It's a sad state of affairs. My guess is that Chanel will now join the merry go round of houses with disposable, short-lived designers. These luxury companies court the masses with their aspirational products, then don't want them in their stores.

She is unnecessary making a drama out of this for attention and for negative comments towards the fashion house. Seems like an entitled personality to me. Just can’t take no for an answer. I love shopping at Chanel but I know they sometimes are too busy or don’t have enough SAs working, so you have to make an appointment. They might be also dealing with situations like higher crime rates and being more careful. I was turned down from going into VCA once but when I told them I was from out of town and can’t come back the next day, they let me in and helped me with an immediate purchase of a Alhambra necklace. Life doesn’t always have to be so dramatic and self centered.

As someone who has worked in Chicago for the better part of 36 years, the Chanel boutique is not in a crime infested area. It is Oak Street which is similar to Rodeo Drive. Prada, Hermes, Versace, Dior etc. We have had our share of issues, looting in August of 2020 for example. That was a unique event, but not unlike the smash and grabs that are happening all over in major cities. Chanel used to be a walk-in boutique, but with the pandemic, it was appointment only. If they are being cautious, I don't blame them. I haven't been shopping Chanel in years. All online or department store purchasing.

(Also: why in the hell would you necessarily need to wear Chanel just to go shopping at Chanel -- are SA's that shallow and powerful?) Of course, if you have a town car waiting outside...

I am a regular Chanel customer and i pride myself in always being put together no matter where I am in public. Having said so I don’t appreciate seeing people in sweats in a Chanel store so I am glad she wasn’t let in. That tells me that even if she was recognized they value old farts customers like me over B list celebrities like her. I am 49 years old and I am from Italy, living in US now, so I know I have a different perspective than young Americans. If she was in Italy not only she would not be let in, she would be looked up and down because nobody even knows who she is there

One night in the 1970s, Cher was denied entry to Studio 54, the famous, now-defunct night club/disco in New York. Every evening, the doorman and owners decided who would and would not enter. Chanel in Chicago may have not had enough sales associates available, and I assure you that they're not wrong to raise security concerns. Several years ago, Bethenny Frankel sold her Skinny Margarita brand (and its offshoots) for $100 million. I happen to think that someone who has a nine-figure net worth should be happy and not create a cause célèbre over this incident. If she has to wait in line with others, then let her do so. That Chanel sells high-end luxury goods does not mean that they have to cater to every little whim and wish of even 'celebrities' or its VIP customers.

  • @meowzerzzz

This doesn't directly have to do with this video. You have probably said this, but rather than sending bags to the US to be burned, why not only allow a sale to the most high paying customers who buy the most stuff? I know this would not benefit me but isn't it better than burning? Or they could use the parts of the unpurchased bags to be artistically remained into other objects people can buy.

I think we are at an age with 'influencers' who use these fancy boutique shops to try shit on, take photos, take videos, go home and edit but not buy one single thing. Plus, they are in the way of the real shoppers. Anyway, if Bethany were familiar with the brand and Chicago, she might have checked that part out. Or maybe she just is so used to wandering around NYC and jumping into boutiques where they do know her. Either way, I don't care that she was recognized, I don't fancy Chanel like I used to. Bethany is not relatable. I only read about her from these types of videos.

She went in, spent 2 minutes and came right back out. She did not pull celebrity status on either visit. I think some of these stores are simply wrong. Bethenny is a lot of things, but I don't see where she would lie about the store. She has access to everything she needs.

In Chanel's defense, it must get oh so tiring to witness so many influencers (no offense intended with you) and other wannabes crowding into the boutiques, doing their best to secretly film objects, touching, touching, touching, and not bother to consider buying anything -- fodder for subsequent social-media posts. And it's tacky, which is Bethenny Frankel's middle name. For regular customers who seek a rarified experience upon entering a boutique, this uncouth ardor must be off-putting. I've never had a problem with Chanel in Chicago on Oak Street. Years ago, in Beverly Hills, the super rich could enter a boutique in torn jeans and a T-shirt and the SA's wouldn't dare snub them: what if they could afford to buy the store and have them fired? What is far more important and socially relevant are the two times person of color billionaire Oprah Winfrey was denied access to Hermes -- in Paris and Switzerland -- for different reasons. Paris: the store was closed and they were prepping a party. Switzerland: the sales associate was "embarrassed" to show the unrecognized Oprah such an expensive handbag.
