She doesn't need anyone's approval to shop - it's a store with merchandise after all. I imagine any reasonable individual would have been taken aback by not getting into the store. At the end of the day, she was reporting her experience. Have a beautiful day!

Bethenny didn't realize we're not allowed to walk into stores anymore, and Chanel didn't realize Bethenny has a net worth of 80 million. BIG mistake, Chanel! And for those saying it's because of rampant theft, that might be part of the reason, but why did they deny her entrance when she was dressed casually, but allowed her in when she came back dressed to the nines! Doorman was being judgy, and hopefully learned you can't judge a book by it's cover!

This made my day. If more people only stood up for this kind of behavior towards people.

@@lauranorton2894 Oh yea it is personal and I am not rich but the same happened to me in a Home Depot. And another time in a carpet store when I was remodeling my home. More so to a women than a man to man. The guy in the store led me to the cheapest carpet by the way I looked with my hair tied back and t-shirt and jeans on and telling me this was more affordable than the ones I as looking at. In Home Depot the sink I wanted to purchase was told I could not afford that sink. Don't be saying such stupidity when you don't even swipe my debit card to see if I can pay for that. Even my husband know women are mistreated that way often and warns car mechanics when I would take the car in for service or repairs cause they are big time bad for ripping you off.

I love this! So true about Chanel Boutiques. And then once you’re inside, they have zero items available for purchase, it’s mostly display only and that they don’t have that size, they don’t have that style, they don’t have that color etc etc. and even if they have one last item available, if you look at it closely, it has some kind of defect or stains. Why???? Because they’re selling returned items all the time, because they’re just overhyped and overpriced

Crime in downtown Chicago has been rampant in the last several years. High end shops in downtown Chi are frequently targeted/robbed . I don’t take offense to this video but then again I shop within my means. Ps.. I do appreciate Bethenny’s strong will and and work ethic 💪

I was at a Lemaire store in Paris and the two hipsters who worked there were so mean to me. The answer is to not shop at such a place.

That’s how regular people feel girl! They take one look at us and say no!

All women know the sometimes immense difference between "natural" and top styled. In certain stores, you are judged and even condemned at a glance. I don't go to Chanel or other stores that have security on the door, but even in "cheaper" expensive stores I don't dare go in if I don't look right in my opinion, because I wouldn't feel comfortable. Of course that's wrong and I like that Bethenny exposed the store accordingly.

Just like any other city, Chicago has its issues. This is about her going to an area where shops are now appointment only. She didn’t check ahead and wants them to break policy and let her in. Now she’s making a big deal of nothing. I can imagine how many entitled people come to that door demanding to come in and throwing tantrums because the store won’t accommodate their laziness.

I’m guessing that your opinion is based on the fact that you can’t afford to shop in these stores on a regular basis. There are a lot of people who think that department stores are overpriced and “nonsensical”, and that only Walmart or Target are worthwhile. It’s all relative.

As much as I don’t want to agree with Bethany… as a someone who spent A LOT of time working in customer service she’s absolutely right. They should’ve given her more information and/or found out what the wait time was for a same day appointment. In Colorado, you can’t judge a book by its cover. Wealthy people choose comfort over impressing others when it comes to their day to day dressing.

Good on her for calling them out. I personally dislike going to high end stores because same reason most of the sale assistant there are judgmental people.

We stopped over at Sydney Harbour and we were looking for breakfast, and approached an empty French restaurant and asked if they offered breakfast (they were open and it was 11am) where the one staff member there simply said they didn’t serve fries.

the nkuwan would be super cute during the fall with a nude or tan or even tonal outfit! i’m thinking a tan wool coat with that bag!!

I do this all the time with retailers. When I’m going to be dropping serious cash, I go dressed for the gym or in some other nondescript clothing. I even wore sweats to buy a car. I walked around the showroom for 30 minutes before I had to approach someone myself. I find the whole thing very intriguing and I love being able to prove their assumptions wrong. It’s a sickness I have! Lol!

I totally had that same experience I went to a high end store and was wearing jeans and tshirt plus my two kids and the salesperson that was there made this smirk of like umm hi can I help you??? And I’m like no I’m just looking.. but her face said it all. Never going back there again !

I don't dress up to the nines when I go lux shopping, so far with LV, Gucci,YSL and Neiman's, hubby and I were treated well. I just go there in my shorts sometimes, no make-up just comfy clothes. There were times when you could only enter by appointment but that was Covid era(21~22). How the staff handled her case was wrong tho, I was in line a few times for some items but the staff was very friendly handling it. Got my number to call me when they are ready so I won't waste my time standing there. We all deserve great Customer service for lux purchases, these Brands should fire staff with attitude like this.

Chicago is crime ridden and smash & grab is a new form of shopping. Too bad Bethany is so removed from reality that being turned away from the Chanel store is monumental enough to appeal to the general population...many of us who are discriminated against and held back every single day no matter what financial class. She is not telling the entire story of what happened! I have been in Chanel, Hermes and Dior in overalls and a t-shirt with no problem. If you go at a busy time sometimes they want you to have an appointment, no matter who you are!

Imagine Channel is like, "We spoke with our employee in Chicago, and we can confirm that he knew exactly who she was when he told her to make an appointment. We stand with our employees."

I can't blame Chanel for being picky on who enters their store with all the smash & grab, thievery going on. We once entered an expensive jewelry store years ago in Palazzo in Vegas, we were dressed casually like ordinary tourists but happily surprised that we were treated very well & even shown some really expensive watches! Kudos to that male shopkeeper for being kind & humane!
