I have the receipts! Talk about journalistic integrity and freedom of speech huh… why would they all of a sudden turn off the comments under that video? Silencing people’s voices when the voices are constructively critical? How is that professional journalism? How is that ethical journalism?

Chanel became popular based on the middle class being able to afford their prices. Chanel now doesn't care about pricing out the middle class. They have no morals anymore. That new CEO is selfish, stupid and GREEDY. The middle class made Chanel rich and now they turn around to bite the hand that fed them. I bought tons of Chanel. NO MORE. Your company has insulted me.

Don't worry, they will make a U-turn once they realize that they need aspirational middle class customers. The super rich that they're trying to appeal to now are not stupid and they like good quality products. They won't drop 12k on a bag that is super poor quality just for the flex. For that kind of money they'll just buy Hermes. Whether or not we like Hermes as a brand, we can't deny that they don't mess around with quality.

The middle class did not make Chanel rich or famous. That is laughable statement! 😂 Sales from the upper middle class make up a portion of their revenue. But the majority are from the 1% & smaller. The PROBLEM is that even the 1% has its limits for what it is willing to spend on what quality.

I wouldn’t call having cousins with a $70 million dollar engineering company being middle-class. In the video and elsewhere she’s spoken about as if she came from humble beginnings and is proof that anyone can make it. However she is more proof that making it is reliant on having good connections, a bachelors degree in engineering followed by attending management school and then getting experience in management in a variety of factories (not on the factory floor as has been said with the implication she was a humble factory worker) through her family connections. Those experiences and connections got her into Unilever in India the rest would be speculation on my part so I’ll refrain.

There are customers but not many. In the past never ever have i seen such stocks and especially the pink handbags. I think many are priced out long ago. How many Chanel handbags can one have with this kind of prices? Even the 2nd hand market, for a new classic is dropping and still not sold. So Chanel, go as high as you want and be happy with it yourself. Is just all greed. Inflation again the stupid answer used in all their interviews. This is far far beyond inflation Mrs Nair. I am new to this channel, so what an initiation - amazing video, Dacob!! As a 40-something woman that has worked in high finance (catering to the ultra wealthy), this woman's whole vibe is what I literally still have nightmares about, even after I escaped this field. Good for her - she's a woman, and one of color, who has reached the highest level. However, what is she doing with her opportunity? It's just greed and more greed with a sprinkling of delusion. She has drunk the kool-aid to such an extent that even with her (probable) high IQ, she is blind to the reality that she is coming across terribly. In my experience, this is exactly the type who gets promoted in the corporate world. Not the people who are very smart, work hard AND are genuine people, who have values beyond profits. It is the empty vessels who are willing to be shaped by the greed, reciting all of the HR speak and fridge magnet platitudes, and stepping on both people and ideals of decency to get ahead. I am now proud to say that I do not own a single Chanel item and would never spend one dollar there in the future after watching this video. People, stop shopping there! I love high fashion too but this attitude plus obscene prices for poor quality? Beyond insulting 🫠

Unilever = animal testing. Love your clarity, Dacob! "How did you/Leena move from struggling beginnings as a truck driver to HR in Unilever?" I've observed people as they intentionally create their 'humble beginning, got here by my own grit and determination' story. As well as their shameless use of underprivileged others, e.g., I volunteered with a literacy group helping poor kids = I read a story to kids at the Public Library (once), I volunteered at a soup kitchen (once), I drove trucks (specifically to back up my rags to riches story), etc. Time to wise up to the beguilement of these grifters and their b.s. on "empowering women", "inclusivity", "opportunity for the poor", etc.

Sorry, by far she is the worst CEO any luxury brand could ever have. It is never about the cultural background, as I am Asian too. However, this is pitiful, considering the strong brand presence that Chanel already has, and it is very easy to leverage, yet she messed up. Most of the customers in the luxury market are middle-class people, not the uber-rich, and she fails to acknowledge that. Raising the price as high as Hermes but with fast fashion quality will never be acceptable. From their boring creative director to this failure of a CEO, Chanel is on the brink of collapse, if not for their fans."

Why do we say “in fairness to the journalist”? In my opinion, if she were a journalist with integrity, she would have said no to doing a rigged interview. To be fair though, especially for their metiers d’art pret a porter collections they do quite a few details by hand on top of the machine made garments. Its like a mix of machine made and hand made details but we cannot say that the entire pret a porter garment is hand made because that haute couture and there is a difference between the two. The difference is not only the exorbitant price jump but also in craftsmanship and quality. One would think that Leena would know the difference between the two? No? Sus..,

Who can really say they are excited about Chanel bags in particular in 2024? If you own a Chanel bag when was the last time you used it? Chanel can raise prices till the cows come home but if consumers are not interested than it doesn't matter. There was a time when having a Chanel bag was a milestone to strive for but today for many that is not the case. All those in my circle including myself who have one are either rehoming it or not using it. (This entire comment is an opinion and alleged).

I still love the chanel bags I already have but I also have zero interest personally in buying any additional new Chanel bags. Their bags in my opinion are not worth the price they demand for them and their current quality is in my opinion lower than many lower end fashion brands. Their leather is in my opinion a joke at this point. Is it even full grain leather? I have personally given up on their leather. Still love their perfumes, makeup and select accessories though but no more leather from them for me.

I am always suspicious of people, too, who brag on and on of their sustainability, or their equality, or their respect to the environment or to women. That almost always means they don't. Chanel became so rich believe for two major factors, 80s 90s Japan, and the boom of makeup and perfumes 00s onwards Japan had so much spree income, nothing ever seen before, and until this days seems unreal, they suffer 30 years of salary stagnation, so before one day of work could easily buy a Chanel bag even two, now is months of work, ANYONE in Japan could go shop at these brands, they were mass market, Chanel and Louis Vuitton, Hermes, was Like Zara and H&M for us now, why you can see so much reseller shops there? 😂 then the fun was over Chanel lost his money making machine and they move to prioritize makeup/perfumes/skincare and sunglasses the cost to make is ridiculously cheap, a chanel lipstick doesn’t cost more than 1 to make, and they sell for 30/40, the amount of material need is very low, they just to in a way the design look fancy, but is just plastic, sunglasses same, cost nothing to make, ready to wear is always a loss for Chanel, is simple to understand why, they dont want you to buy, what is the sense to Charge 3000 for a t shirt when a leather bag is 8000, those disgusting prices for ready to wear is to make people away and feels the bag is cheap, chanel can lose money to produce the clothes but is a marketing strategy and works really well, middle class only buy a Chanel Lipstick for 40 because they feel the “Chanel World” they can see the fashion show, the boutiques, the celebrities, expensive bags, and this is happening every single seconds in every department store right now countless times.
