It's incredible how shallow is what passes as "basketball analysis" these days. For example, saying that if it was not for the crazy 8 points in 20 seconds moment the Wolves would have won: The Nuggets managed their final 3 or 4 possessions and were more concerned with running the clock than scoring to finish the game. That's something they do a lot - they rarely look to completely demolish the other team (for better or worse, and unless it's in a game they had something to prove, like game 3) - they have learned to play as well as needed to win the game, because they know a championship run is a marathon, and a 5 point win counts for the same as a 30 point one. Sometimes it comes back to bite them, like in the loss to the Spurs at the end of the season, the lone loss to the Lakers, or even the first game against Minny (the second game was an anomaly in more ways than one). But in the long run it has been proven to be a winning formula so far. And that has a lot to do with how Jokic plays, really - with him you seldomly see wasted motion, which is why he rarely dunks, again, unless he thinks he has something to show people. Why spend energy dunking the ball when he has the softest touch around the basket and a layup is worth the same 2 points? If it was a closer game, they'd have executed differently and the result more likely than not would have been the same. You gotta learn to go past the surface, folks, even more so if you wanna self-identify as "basketball analysts". Cheers!

It doesn't matter which league, team or player we'll ever have. Until media decides that Denver is just as "allowed" to be considered as important as any coastal city, then we'll always be spoken in less than respectful ways. 8:56 Joker has had differentials like that FOR THE LAST FIVE YEARS and carried the Nuggets in each of his MVP seasons with NO All-Star teammates and with Jamal out, but how many times did you media puppets bring that up?? Every time the media’s “chose ones” breathe, yall are swooning and hyping them up even while Joker has been doing the SAME THINGS with greater results for YEARS straight. Don’t act like this is a coincidence

I felt that watbecause I was surprised the T-Wolves did that the first two games to a team that is so damn good in the Nuggets. But I’m not surprised now that the Nuggets are playing the way I thought they would have the first two games. It’s hard to be surprised that they “have the heart of a champion” while they are literally the defending champs.

When the Warriors won the championship in 2015, people were saying that it was fluky because a lot of teams they beat in the postseason had injuries to key players. They really didn’t get respect for that title until they won again in 2017. Point being, Denver will basically have to win another one, as unfair to them as that is.

This talk is what people in Denver have had for years. He's an all time great, not many times you know it's an all time great in his prime so we are enjoying the MP3 in Denver after Jokic got snubbed last year when he ducked out.

This series determines NBA title. Minnesota could be the new big thing: Ant Man plus that tall timber. Coach Malone is now pushing the ball to avoid Wolves' defense. Murray must play like a star. Gordon and Porter like solid complimentary players, and not invisible men. Gordon is very, very long and super athletic. His play might be the key. Joker will always be Joker.

Jokic runs things on the floor as well or better than anyone ever. it's like having Magic playing center. that alone puts him way up there all time. on top of that when he wants to score he's a clear mismatch for defensive player of the year guys like AD and Gobert. they can't stop him. I've never seen anyone like him

Yep. They either don't realize or don't want to say that the thing Jokic has an issue with is not basketball, it's the bullshit spewed on sports shows and all that surrounds it. I think he rightfully sees U.S. sports media as the dumpster fire it is....and that makes some of them hating him anymore.

I mean, I think a lot of people have been treating them like champs (they just happen to not be members of the media) It seems like everyone in print and on air got amnesia and didn't realize that you don't with a championship without having a bit of resiliency. Their entire starting five returned from a championship year - what were people missing?

  • @pacof4558

Great show. Anthony Edwards shows he's willing to do something Jordan wasn't = say ignorant illogical things. He's ready to play the next day but not so much if it's a longer amount of time between games? That's LeBron-style excuses vs just being honest. Just being honest is a willingness to acknowledge his enemy's accomplishment. As much as I never (ever) wanted to see Jordan win back in the day, he was honest and respected his enemy's accomplishments - it seemed. Isaiah Thomas might say otherwise. Ants excuses show a fear of rejection which equals weakness. If he can overcome that then everyone around him gets better.
