Im glad I found you. I'm making my first ever skirt. Thank you from Navajo Nation..
Awesome Indigenous Woman Teachings and the Ribbon Skirt is Beautiful, simplicity and looks comfortable relaxing to wear, thanks for modeling the ribbon skirt gives a wonderful view of the finished look.
I am about to make my first skirt... thank you!! for this.
Been watching various tutorials for tips as I am making some skirts for my daughter. This by far is my favorite tutorial so far. Everyone else has nice little work areas and various tools. Your hair straightener idea cracked me up and inspired me at the same time. Our gmas and great gmas didn’t always have all the fancy tools but they mad due with what they had and made beautiful creations. Just chilling on the floor and cutting straight with your scissors. Mine would be all crooked six different ways. Great vid . Love your style. Pretty legit.
I love it! I’m sharing in my Ojibwa Garments class as my reference for ribbon skirt on the discussion board. Had me crackin up. & You made it look so easy too I get so frustrated and impatient and so I’m gonna strive to be more like that from now on lol. Very good job too! You make it seem less intimidating to make skirts, I forget it’s supposed to be fun sometimes 😂
Girl! You cracked me up! The best ribbon skirt video yet. Keep them coming. 💯
I’d be afraid to catch one of those big super long nails in the sewing machine. But, love the results of your beautiful ribbon skirt. You make it look so easy & fun.

I am from Malaysia and I just discovered this. I really love your tutorial! Am I actually allowed to make a ribbon skirt even though I am not an Indigenous person? 🎀

Hi! I just wanna say I really appreciate ur interest in my video/tutorial! And I definitely appreciate and acknowledge ur respect for my culture by asking this. I would say no. Ribbon skirts are sacred to Indigenous people. Although I understand ur coming from a place of admiration & respect, this tutorial was meant for Indigenous people. There are certain circumstances where non-Indigenous people are gifted ribbon skirts that are authentically created by Indigenous people. But from my POV, replicating a ribbon skirt when ur not Indigenous would be a form of cultural appropriation. Thank u again for asking, I don’t mean any disrespect to u!❤️
Two questions. I am indigenous, however my estranged mom was adopted into white suburbia and I have no one to help me that is indigenous. I’ve never used a sewing machine before and was wondering if I did all the other skirt prep myself and just had my Polish mother and law help me sew it with the machine, is that okay? Also where do you buy the ribbons and fabrics?

I think it would be ok for ur mother in law to help u! It’s u wanting to connect with ur culture🙂 in my opinion it would not be ok if someone who’s non-Indigenous started making ribbon skirts and was monetizing them or mass producing them… but of course if u don’t have anyone whos Indigenous to help u she can show u how to sew! It’s so good that u want to connect with ur culture❤️ I get my fabric from fabricland and my ribbon from a little fabric store in my city. But I know that fabricland and other craft stores like michaels have ribbon.
