Revisiting The Bike Park With No Easy Way Down A Year Later‼️

Спорт

The Bolton Valley Bike Park trail crew with the help of Gravity Logic has been working around the clock to build out their mountain bike trails. The last time I rode here, there was no easy trail down but over the past few weeks they've put in the final touches on the new green trail, which actually makes getting to the Hard Trails Better!

You're fantastic, man! I purchased a fuel ex 7 2 months ago, and it's a dream come true! It is funny because the only gt bike I ever owned bought from our local wholesale store when I was 16, and it was a gt aggressor 27.5 hard tail 21 speed from our wholesale store, lol. But damn, that bike was still great lol Do you have any videos on cat walking or manueling tips? Thanks a lot for all your content! Awesome beans!!!

Inquiry... Is it sometimes impossible to get the GoPro setting correct for lighting, when righting in shade/sun/shade/sun? I see it blurring out at times when in the woods on this video, and have in the past as well. Not that I care, because I’m watching every second regardless. Just curious if that’s a GoPro thing, since I’m not a GoPro guy. Love your vids regardless! 😎 I learn a lot, and I’m thankful for your work.

  • @SkillsWithPhil

Yeah, GoPros get a lot of shit but we are literally asking them to do one of the hardest jobs. Filming fast action packed footage in lighting conditions that range from super bright, to super dark (sometimes both in the same shot) is really challenging for the camera to adapt to and get it right. Then KZread is a whole other beast. Millions of videos are uploaded daily, so it's in their interest to make file sizes as tiny as possible to save on storage costs. They take your files and compressed them to a smaller size which reduces the quality significantly. The footage i see and the footage you see end up being way different

Yeah, I updated the firmware after the issue occurred, and haven't seen it since. But i have atleast a terabyte of footage recorded on the old firmware with no issues except for that one time.

Yeah, I was coming here to say the same thing. Kerr has had several videos plagued by it. It has to be software. His happened several times in one track walk video.

What’s the main difference between old school downhill and new stuff ?

Old school trails were just rake and rides usually pointed straight down a mountain. They often didn't account for erosion and water issues, and were built linking up features. Most turns were raked in and that mean you could be turning on off camber roots and rocks. These days, trails are built to last a few more years with less maintenance and built to be rideable for sooner after rainstorms since drainage was accounted for. There's usually berms to help support you maintain speed through slow sections, and you find very little off camber sections. Old school trails are a bit more technical and slow, new school trails are less steep, faster in average and more flowy. Ideally You want both, but in moderation.

@@SkillsWithPhil thanks. There’s not really any mountain biking near me because it’s well flat. There’s pretty much only jumps. And the only place I’ve ride with proper trails was in north wales which is mostly XC style trails. So differences in downhill schools of thought is something new to me

@@sigspearthumb9574 I have mostly XC stuff where I ride. I was at a park that has trails talking to a guy and he said he was part of making the trails near me where I ride on occasion like 20 years ago. Lots of off camber stuff, coupled with narrow trails between trees make it really technical, even with 760mm bars. Seeing Phil's explanation just now, it makes more sense why those shorter trails are more difficult for me than that park I was at.
