    Watching through again and caught your talk about the plant light about 48:10. Just a quick comment. The red and blue spectrum of LED bulbs are most beneficial for plant growth. It is cheap, cool, and can really aid plant growth. I use them in house low light areas, for my 4 Cham cages occasionally, and for my saltwater refugium's. SO much more effective and economical that white grow lights! Just thought I'd throw that out there for consideration.

    Thanks for sharing! I am always hesitant to recommend lighting that does not produce a white light due to the sensitivity of chameleon eyes, even if they aren't the best option for plants. There are some interesting discussions on chameleonforums.com around LED lighting I think you might think is cool.

    I think a lot of people might try to recreate the whole forest environment (sparse floor, dense canopy) when, for me, it works better to treat the enclosure as though it is within the tree and requires the dense coverage throughout.

    So glad both my enclosures made it, love all your videos! Stoney my male panthers custom enclosure is one cage with 2 doors that I built. Limited house space made it to where I had to build cage around electric outlet this the reason for funky shape. And the blurry cage is kami's but couldn't get a better picture no matter how hard I tried, removing so e branches and headed to home depot! Thanks for all the time you spend on your videos I cannot thank you enough for all the knowledge in your videos Thank you!! Nick

    That really depends on the plants you use since some have more light requirements than others. I just got a grow light last year after not using one and my plants have been ✨thriving✨ ever since. So not required by any means, but certainly VERY helpful. Here’s the one I use: Arcadia Jungle Dawn 34W LED bar: amzn.to/3zoOvHy

    You can use 12% uvb about 6 inch’s above the screen or 14% about 12 inches above the screen. You would actually get a bigger and wider range of usable (for the Cham) uvb, but if its on the screen like yours are then what you said is correct (especially with screen climbing)

    kind of topic but not really, whats your take or do you know about spray paint? Im looking to spray paint some fake bamboo (its tan and I want it to be green) for my enclosure.... I am going to let it sit and dry for about 2 weeks before I even place in the enclosure so I feel it may become safe but im really unsure? I saw on the forums that krylon fusion may be safe but then others said it may not be so idk lol

  • @NeptunetheChameleon

    I’d avoid using bamboo since it can be slippery for them to climb. You’ll also want to make sure the spray paint is water proof. I’ve used Flex Seal in the past.

    Thank you for the vid too bad I missed the submission for my enclosure. Question I have for you is I found 3 ants in my chameleons enclosure and was only able to capture 1 without them hiding in the branches and leaves. How do I safely get rid of the ants or is it not a huge problem only seeing a small amount? Also my Chameleon I just got a couple days ago and was able to follow all the right steps thanks to your videos, the problem is he is not eating out of his cup with plenty of worms. I’ve only seen him eat 2 crickets in the 3 days I’ve had him and the 2 crickets were loose in his enclosure and not in his cup. So he’s not eating out of his cup or show any interest in it.

    What uvb bulb do you recommend for a 4ft high and wide enclosure and has the bigger wholes mesh?

  • @NeptunetheChameleon

    @NeptunetheChameleon

    Жыл бұрын

    Oooh the bigger holed mesh makes it tricky. Best option would be to buy a solar meter 6.5 to test the exact UVB levels given the bigger mesh will allow more UVB (www.amazon.com/dp/B076GXJFJG?linkCode=ssc&tag=onamzclari071-20&creativeASIN=B076GXJFJG&asc_item-id=amzn1.ideas.3O75E57RVWGRY&ref_=aip_sf_list_spv_ofs_mixed_d_asin&th=1). A T5 5.0/6% is usually recommended for the 4ft tall enclosures with the standard smaller mesh.

    Odd question on an old video. Any suggestions for a panther build housing a hermaphrodite chameleon? He does lay eggs as females do but as every outward sign like colour and such (see avatar picture for the troublemaker) says male he doesnt have the same colour change indicators to know when to put a laying bin in. Is there a way to incorporate a permanent laying bin that i can just take out to get rid of unfertalized eggs and put back, rather then putting in when theyre indicating 'ready' (since his colouring says male and thus doesnt give classic female ready-to-lay signs) and then removing the rest of the time? If it helps i do fully bioactive soil bottom enclosures with enough plantlife and branches to make babies an absolute nightmare to find when first getting. The amount of times i swear a baby had escaped only to find one sitting under a leaf by a branch I'd checked twenty times already. Pothos is very much my friend for propagation.

    Hey! I had some questions I hoped you could answer! So, about a week ago I received a female panther chameleon by a family member. She is one years old. My main concern is why she is always dark and ashy. From research, this could mean many things. It’s usually 70-85 degrees in there daily. I have her light on all day until night (7:30 or 8:00) when it’s her bedtime. (Btw this is my first time ever having a chameleon). I spray the enclosure when humidity gets below 50%. We also got her a little dropper for water. We have been giving her super worms but yesterday we found out that they can get addicted so I’m getting silk worms today. Anyway, I’m still confused on why she is always dark. The only time she was actually bright was the day we first got her. Ever since then, she’s been pretty dark Orange. It’s really worrying and I feel like I might have to give her to someone who knows better but I’m scared. Also, if we had to go to the vet, idk how I would get her out of there. I’m in a pretty stressful mindset rn. I hope she’s not sick. Any tips or any advice? It would be extremely helpful.

    How can I get in contact with you? I would really love to show you the enclosure I built for my wife’s chameleon. I think you’ll love it and I’ll be more than happy to take feed back from you about it!

    Mesh enclosures are useless for chameleons or any lizard that has claws . Anyone that has owned them for awhile no is this the claws get pulled out and the chameleon can’t move for a week or so

    If an enclosure is set up correctly than a chameleon should not be climbing the screen in the first place.
