Love hearing your gear-related thoughts. I have had a similar setup to yours, trying out some of the same lenses (R6 with RF16, RF35, and RF100-400 are the ones I stuck with, did not really warm up to the RF28). When I was starting out I was basically shooting every day, and I have fallen so deep in the bird photography rabbit hole that I finally caved and got the 800/11. When it comes to sharing I was a bit burned out on flickr and instagram, so now I mostly stick to sharing only with family and friends and the canonrumors forum. I also print photobooks for myself a couple of times a year.

That's awesome, thanks for sharing! I tried the 800mm a long time ago, but would like to give it another go. Printing books is something I would love to do once yearly. I would like to put one together for New Zealand. They are a lot of work though - I underestimated how much time went into playing with the layout and adjusting crops when featuring multiple shots on a page 😅

as i cooly draw my t2i from my walmart camera bag, my ef 75-300 f/4-5.6 lens begins to extend. the sound of my artistic delivery device frightens away the local wildlife. the six 58mm K&F concept uv filter caps i use to protect my sole purpose in life point outward to my target. shaking, i take a picture of a branch and pretend thats what i wanted all along. the chromatic abbreviation and lack of IS renders my photo worthless to the uncultured. I don't even pretend to adjust my flash as it meagerly pops out and illuminates the noon day. I am a god damn genius.

I know its a "budget"camera but i finally saved up and got an r50 body. i dont have any r mount lenses but i did buy the rf to ef mount converter with the fancy wheel and ive been using my favorite lens the EF-S Macro 60mm F/2.8. I dont know if i can afford anything nicer but im always on the lookout for a good ebay deal.

Nice! That's awesome you can take advantage of a lens you already liked. How's it working so far?

@@DanYosua oh also thank you so much for making that comparison between the L and non L 24-105, super useful! Even though the f4 L 24-105 is much cheaper than the 24-70, it's still over a thousand dollars and for people that don't the weather sealing and don't mind the aperture, the non L is awesome! I always dismissed these "cheap lenses" as not being as good as the L series. Also, I firmly believe the f4 70-200 is so much more worth it than the f2.8

The 24-105 STM surprised me with image quality. I expected a really poor performance too, but it's not bad and can be a great advantage to stay compact. And if nothing else to explore the focal ranges. The 70-200 F4 is one of the better value lenses for most people. Unless I start shooting lots with that range inside or for sports, I don't think I'll swap for the F2.8.

It's a great pairing for all of those. I've been meaning to try the 16mm for a long time, maybe this summer 🤞

@@DanYosuaHonestly the readout speed. I have an R6II and a backup R. It would be nice to occasionally get that 40 FPS my R6II offers, but for those things, I can't use it because of the slower sensor read speed. That's about the only thing that kept me from the first R5. I know the R6II has the same readout speed, but it was a lower entry price while I waited for the R1 or R5II (probably the II at this point).

Gotcha, hopefully we won't be waiting much longer. I'm curious about the heat dissipation. The R5 has apparently gotten much better over time with firmware updates but I'm hoping this is a more solid step.

@@DanYosua That would also be nice. I'm thinking about diving off into video some and could possibly benefit from extended 4k 120 time. Even though I borrowed a buddies R5 to shoot a highschool baseball game and had no issues jumping back and forth, I know he's had issues with it.
