Since posting this video review I have had a few responses regarding phone cameras getting damaged when using phones mounted to motorcycles, and that some other manufacturer offer anti-vibrations mounting solutions. Can anyone comment as to whether they've still had phone camera issue when using these anti-vibe mounts?

Good review, nicely filmed as usual! Been very pleased with my UA kit, just got another case from them for a new phone. Used same phone in all conditions, on and off road for thousands of miles, no issues.

Really good to hear. I’m always careful to only promote it I actually think is good (ie not just for the likes!), and UA kit is worth promoting.

Haha thanks man. Yeah, it’s a proper secure mount. I was very impressed with how it didn’t move when smashing through the desert in Morocco!

As you know I took an earlier version of these cases to Morocco and it worked great. My only gripes were the chunky-ness of the case as I was using on and off the bike, and some dust did make it into the case. They appear to have upgraded the closures since then so it might be a tighter seal now. As for the anti-vibration issue, it is an issue for smooth filming but the issues I think your talking about is damage to phones, which is only an issue if your phone has anti shudder tech. Mine doesn’t so I’m ok Jack! Haha Nice review buddy 🤙🏻

Thanks for the comments buddy! Yeah, a few people have mentioned the potential camera issues now. Part of me does think that this might could be an issue any mounts on a motorcycle off-road - not sure the Apple (/other brand) geeks have bouncy handlebars in mind when they are designing sensitive phone cameras. I’m interested to know if anyone uses an anti-vibe mount, from any manufacturer, and still had camera problems?

Great review! I always manage to drop washers etc, just not on camera. 😜 I have just bought the Armor-X mount for my iPhone. Less bulky than UA. May be worth a look. Already have one for my iPad Pro and it is fantastic for protection during regular use. Whilst it can be done, I don’t mount the iPad to my bike. Used Quadlock previously and their anti-vibe mount is excellent. But changed to the ArmorX as it totally encases the phone whereas the Quadlock is a case for the back of the phone, and extra weather protection can be had with the ‘poncho’ cover. Which in my experience discolours over time, and can also mist up in bad weather defeating the point of having it as the screen is unreadable. Hope this helps.

I've been using UA cases and mounts for years! They have survived everything and saved my phone countless times, including dropping my bike during a river crossing causing everything to get properly submersed! (Caught on camera too!) Never had issues with too many vibrations/damaging my camera etc.

Really good info there, thanks buddy. I thought the case was secure but never knew it would survive a submersion, so that’s pretty awesome. More to the point, I hope the bike was also ok! 😂

If you go to setting>Accessible>Touch >Assisted touch>ON Then you get a small home button on the screen you can move about it takes some getting use getting used to but works really well for this case you can even turn the phone off with it

I've been using Ultimate Addons universal phone mount and I'm really happy with it! Doesn't move around, never had any issues with the mount itself, however the nut wich tightens around the ball mount did snap when temperatures outside got to it (at the times we had -5ish if I remember well temperatures here in the UK at night) and it cracked. Its really a good idea to have a spare one on hand.

Hey mate! I haven’t got any clever suggestions I’m afraid but I just tilt my screen down a bit on the mount 👍🏻

I have used ultimate addons a couple of times unfortunately broke the camera on my iPhone 12 1st time on a ktm450 I assumed it was because of the excessive vibration of hardcore enduro bike even though only on the bike 10 minutes, 2nd time on a crf300l smooth bike but camera still broke, back to quad lock never had a problem with them just need a poncho for wet weather.

That's good to know. Tbh I'm weary of putting any phone with a good camera onto a motorcycle handlebar. Not sure Mr Jobs had motorcycles in mind when he was developing his super-sensitive iPhone cameras 😂

Great video mate, although I was MOST impressed how you just pulled the tools out of that AMAZING storage box under your seat. That was Definitely the BEST vid of the whole video. "just sayin"

Bad timing Ollie as I've just bought another handlebar U-clamp at full RRP 🙄🤦🏼‍♂️ One thing I will say regards phone mount's for off-road bikes (as an example used for mapping for green laning) Ultimate Add-Ons (unlike other phone mount brands) dont currently offer an anti-vibration bracket and from personal experience I can say that this can have a permanent and detrimental effect on the camera in the phone, i.e. the camera will cease to focus, instead the lens will continually try to focus thus rendering the camera useless 😳

Hi Geoff. Thanks for the response. I have heard of phone cameras having issues with other manufacturers, but not specifically UA, so thanks for sharing. I do wonder if there's always a risk that our delicate phone cameras will be damaged if we bounce them around on motorcycle handlebars, despite different manufacturers offering anti-vibration solutions!

@@colinclugston4757 well yes, but a rubberised apperture for the phone in the case is no where near as effective as the vibration damping cradle/ bracket of the QuadLock that their phone case then mounts to.
