Thanks Teoh for sharing the review. I've noticed that you pronounce it "Alambra" omitting the "H". The correct pronounciation is "AlHambra" , originatjng from the Arabic "Alhamra" without the B, which means "the red one", since this was built as part ofAndalusia, an Arabic Muslim region.

Andalucía was never an Arabic Muslim region, because It didn’t exist at that time. You may be talking about “al Andalus”,witch never was an “Arabic Islamic region”. Al Andalus was a CALIPHATE by it self (never an “Arabic Muslim region”). The caliphate of Córdoba (my hometown, founded by rome 169 b. C. And called CORDUBA). Al Andalus (witch included a small part of the south of France during a short period of time ) was a crisol of the three religions (Muslim,Christian and Jewish), it was conquered not by the quantity of Muslims , but by the promise that the people wouldn’t have to pay taxes if they converted to Islam (witch means that the population changed religion without been Arabic/Muslim) Al Andalus became a group of “kingdoms” ,called “reinos taifas” (the taifa kingdoms)in the south of the Iberian peninsula. While the Christians where reconquering those small kingdoms in the south ,they were repopulating them with people from the north ( even People from france and Germany, you’ll find blond and blue eyed andalucians ). The last of those kingdoms to fall was the kingdom of Granada (1492), witch king was Boabdill. He was thrown out of Spain (he’s mother said to him ; “don’t cry like a woman over what you couldn’t defend like a man). After the reconquest everyone who was Muslim or Jewish was thrown out of the country (as a matter of fact, the Arabic/Jewish ADN in Spain is less than 3%). And last but not “least” , we Spaniards pronounce it “alambra”. Greetings. P. D. I apologize for my poor English.

Thanks for the history lesson. Alhamra is an Arabic term which means "red", and the current construction was built in the mid-13 century by Bin Al Ahmar, an Arabic Muslim Ruler.

@@lionheart5311 you’re right, the name though was Muhammad Ibn Yusuf ibn Nasr (Muhammad “son “ of Yusuf “son” of Nasr),but was known as Ibn al-Ahmar (because of he’s red beard ). You’re right, except for that al-Andalus was an Arabic region. There is no more to it. Greetings from Cordoba.
