    Good review. People complain about price. If you have a cheap head then buy a cheap helmet. Engineering and quality comes with a price and rarely will you find it any other way. All it takes is one crash where your helmet plays a major protective roll. Save money on other things, maybe eat out less or something. Never budget on safety. Just my .02.

    Maybe factor in the amounts they spend on sponsoring top riders too as that has to bee recouped. Shoei make the most comfortable helmet I’ve ever used for sure but following your logic why not get an Arai Rx7V RC? Only £2500 ish, after all, how much is your head worth? Look on the SHARP rating system and you’d be surprised how good some cheap helmets are and shocked at some of the premium ones. Yes some of the price is justified in the materials used but don’t assume the more expensive the helmet the safer it is. As a side note, imagine being in an accident with the chin bar in the locked open position. The leverage that could apply to your neck if it struck anything gives me shivers. If I’m moving I want mine shut.

    Not quite. You can get better Sharp rating on cheaper helmets. People who buy Shoei buy it for comfort, noise, ergonomics, style, quality materials, low weight and not necessarily superior helmet protection and dare I say it, at times even brand-snobbery

    Nice review! I was dead set on getting the Arai X4 to go with my new ADV bike (Tiger 800) but when I tried it on in the shop yesterday the fit was truly terrible for my head. I tried a few others, and the Neotec II turned out to have the best fit for my head that I’ve ever experienced. Pricey, but it’s mine now and very impressive so far!

    i bought this helmet, top shelf quality, doesn't feel heavy, very comfortable, Sena SRL works well for calls and music. sun visor very easy to use, minimal noise, vents well, pinlock eliminates visor fogging up.

    Thanks for the first "Real life" review of the helmet. I have received mine on 5th of January and already returned it. I'm between size M and L and I typically buy M from Shoei. The Neotec II had two to very strong pressure lines on both right and left sides of my head. Also after using Schubert C3pro for 3 years now, I find the Shoei liners very uncomfortable. So I returned it and I will wait for the new Sport Modular from AGV.

    It's so important to try any kit on - glad you were able to return yours okay. I always used to have an 'Arai' head, but I find Shoeis fit me great too now. I'm a medium, and found the Neotec II to be as comfortable as the previous model, but being between sizes must have have been the problem in your case. Remember that some stores are able to tweak the fit for you. I've also used the Schuberth C3 Pro, E1 and C4 - again, I'm a medium, and I do find those just as comfortable. The AGV might be different again, but it could well suit your head shape. Good luck! John

    Wow you can return a helmet? Buying second hand helmets is a massive no no in Australia as if it's had an impact its no longer functional in an accident, so it's not allowed so I'm told by stores. I wouldn't take the risk. And definitely worth trying a helmet on first, I'm a shoei head shape so found the fit perfect. Maybe other brands suit my weird head too but if shoei works then easy done for buying. However no way I'd buy online, as not everything is forever so I'm sure the day will come when a shoei doesn't suit me anymore for fit. Still amazed a business let you return a hat, good news for you, bad news for the next buyer thinking they bought brand new.

    I’ve been using it for a couple of days now. It’s good. I think they could have used better speakers but I like a lot of bass sound like with Bose products. Not going to get that with this but it works. I have not had an opportunity to test the intercom system yet, but for making phone calls, it is superb! I received two phone calls yesterday while driving interstate speeds of 60-75 mph and the people I talked to didn’t know I was on my motorcycle at those speeds. Clear as a bell. And I ride a Harley Davidson with open pipes! A very loud motorcycle. They couldn’t tell. And I can hear the voice prompts with my GPS really good too. This system has a ton of options that you can change around. I know everyone says the new Cardo talkpacks work better for group rides because you can have up to 15 riders in a group but I don’t do that kind of riding. 99% solo rides for me. I want a system that works well with my phone and GPS and for music. This is great for those purposes. It connects to my phone and GPS very fast and every time too. No connection issues at all and I had tons of issues with the Cardo com system for my Schuberth helmet. It dropped connection all the time and I got so frustrated with it that I ripped it out and threw it in the trash after 6 months. I put a Sena 10C Pro camera on the Schuberth after that. But I’ve had no problems with the SRL so far. Only been a few days though but I really like it. The buttons are easy to find and use with gloved hands too. That big button in the middle is the first thing you feel and it’s no trouble at all. That’s my take on it so far. Hope this helps. Simple controls. No wheels to spin and no flip up stuff. Sleek and no wind whistle at all.

    What are your thoughts of the new shark evo one 2. Is it comparable to this helmet in terms of comfort and quietness? I ask because I am looking for a second helmet for shorter rides, that can double up as a open face and it seems shark is the only makers that do a helmet that genuinely looks like an open face. My long trip helmet is a Schubert R2.

  • @merouby

    Shorter rides, stick with the Shark. This is a better-allrounder but it fails in the fact it doesn't flip all the way back and starts to drag when wearing it chin-up above 40 mph.

    How about shoei neotech 2 vs schuberth E1?

  • @Kornholeeoo

    @Kornholeeoo

    5 жыл бұрын

    I have the E1 too. Great helmet but there were issues I had with it. Don’t know if everyone would. Comes down to the shape of your head. The Neotec 2 fits me like a glove. The E1 was tight. I had to go up to a 2XL on the E1 and felt like I might have even needed a 3XL. I recommend removing the cheek pads to try on a helmet first. That way you get a good idea how it fits on your cranium without the pressure of the cheek pads. Then put them back in and get an overall feel. Tight cheek pads can make you want to go up a size when it’s not needed. The E1 moves more air to me. Not much more but it was noticeable to me. But the neck pads were too stiff in the back and would rock the helmet forward and my eyes were at the top of the visor opening. Had to work on this during breakin. The dark slide down internal sun visor comes down a bit further with the Neotec 2 than the E1 but The E1 was good enough. Just so you know. The E1 is a quiet helmet but not any quieter than the Neotec 2 to me. Both are great. But the E1 feels cheaper in quality. More plastic like. The Neotec 2 feels solid but not heavy. The modular chin bar locks easier on the Neotec 2 whereas the E1, I have to close it slowly with both hands to ensure the locks catch and usually have to spread the cheeks out to get it to lock. You would think it being so tight that this would not have been an issue. But when locked, it’s a good lock and no wind whistle at all. Now don’t take it that I’m knocking too much on the E1. It’s a fantastic helmet but they could have spent a little more time on the sun shade design. It does vibrate at higher speeds but others have added layers of paint to it and said it helped make it more rigid. Quick to remove though if you don’t need it but great to use off road with adventure style riders. The Cardo com system for it is in a neck pad and that was just way too stiff and hard. I would not buy the E1 again now that the Neotec 2 is available. I’m not going to sell it but to me, the Neotec 2 just fits me much better and feels like a higher quality helmet for a bit less money. You can find E1s cheaper now online but I suggest trying one on first as with all helmets, but that can be hard to do as not many places carry them in my research. I bought mine online. I went to a shop and tried on a Neotec 2 and my exact thoughts after trying it on were, “Darn. Now I have to buy it!” And I bought it on the spot and ordered the Sena Com system that day too. It works well and no connection issues at all. Using it to make phone calls, people couldn’t tell I was on my motorcycle driving at highway speeds on a phone call. And I have a very loud Harley. It’s good. Haven’t used it for intercom use between other riders yet, but for phone calls it is superb. Speakers could use more bass but oh well. Shoei hit a homerun with the Neotec 2. Best helmet I’ve ever owned and I’ve been riding for 48 years. Just my thoughts on both. If all I could buy was either the E1 or the Neotec 2, I’d choose the Neotec 2. I hear the new C4 Pro is really improved over the C3 Pro/E1 though. Haven’t tried that one yet. Probably won’t either. I’m happy with the Neotec 2.

  • @geoffallen1331
    @geoffallen13315 жыл бұрын

    I can't believe you said the Neotec 1 wasnt noisey. if you take a piece of paper and fold it in half you can push it into the gap between the helmet and the flip front. keep folding the paper and sliding it in you'll be amazed how big this gap is. it's still there on the neotec 2. closing around the neck doesn't fix the problem for £500 it should be quiet. if you think it's quiet and you can get your hands on a BMW system 6 you'll think your sitting in a soundproof room. As for road glide saying if you have a cheap head get a cheap helmet i assume he's wearing a helmet well of £4,000. unfortunately people will pay what they can afford. nice review though from a proper rider not some bloke in a shop.

The helmet in heat Abroud and UK was always very hot and not enough air flow. I ride around 15k miles a year and always use Neotec as to pinlock I hate them with a passion they work on breath absorbsion and they do not work if you open the visor. Who rides with a visor closed all day ? I don’t. yes been using the comms for about 2 months now i dislike the mic but the comms are OK if you want bluetooth range we stream music and use PMR radios for longer range when riding in a group.There has been a few updates to the comms firmware but still we experience some darlick like sounds and we have to stop riding and re set our sent sr10 which can become annoying Sena seem uninterested in updating the SR10 module which is a shame. If you are riding just with friend the multitasking does seem to work to a extent but again there are flows in that.I don't understand who tests these things when they come out guess its us riders. They should give them to us to test and we could all have a worthwhile say in the matter. My main gripe re Shoei N2 is the top vent i can't open mine on the fly I have to use a biro or something to push it back its the same on two of other riders helmets. I have changed the cheekpads eliminated the flap ones (terrible) and got some nice new ones without flap. They also offer a summer gauzed cheek pad.

    The top went it is practically impossible to slide back (to open) since there is only a very flat surface to move. No grip! The part to move, unfortunately, is situated behind the fix construction and therefore very hard to reach too. The glowes have not enough friction power to grip the moving top and push it back. In my opinion it is an important mistake. Shoei must immediately modifiy this went.

    @@merouby Thank you for your help (arrived 3 years after my text). I would not have thought of this solution!. It means, that if during the trip we want to close / open the ventilation, we have to stop somewhere, right? Major flaws of this helmet: 1) The channel provided for the branches of a goggle (for those who wear) must be eliminated. In fact, this channel forces the arms of the glasses to be inserted in a predetermined position that is not always the one the user wants. 2) The helmet is the loudest of all the helmets I've had (about 15). Starting at 80km/h, the air noise is absolutely terrible! At 120km/h, it's almost unbearable. This is a evidence that no one has tested the helmet before putting it in production. Certainly designed only on the computer!

    When paired with freewire to HD boom on a 2017 Harley Limited, the mic does not work for Boom voice commands or for iPhone calls. For iphone SRL must be directly paired to iPhone. Bummer, as this is the reason I bought into the Neotec 2, SRL, Freewire solution. Sena support now ack's that this functionality does not work at this time. I was also unable to get it to work with a Sena Prism camera.
