Review of Elvis In Concert CBS Show package - DVD, BluRay, CD and book.

There is a lot of negativity about Elvis's last tv show. He is said to be sick, fat, tired, non caring of his fans. None of that is true, and the book's authors go into a lot of detail to correct the impressions that the media and fans have had over the past 45 years.
At the end of my video I made a serious blunder - I said Elvis was 44 years old!! I corrected myself later by saying he was 42, so please overlook my stuff up - I was pretty emotional by then, after I had been reading the text from the book.

I loved the Omaha concert and nobody will ever change my mind about it. Despite fighting crippling illness he still pushed through the performance and that sparkle in his eye was there. The KING's later 70's stuff is deep fried gold and I agree his voice became more powerful, rich and nuanced. I love him forever! Thank you for sharing this, ma'am. Very cool! 👌 💯 👑 ✨️ *T⚡️C⚡️B* ✨️ 👑

A very nice review. I have said over the last 47 yrs, since his death, That this show was Very good! No one watching this thought that 6 weeks later, he would be dead! He was, as is apparent from watching, that Elvis was really enjoying performing. His voice was Very good! He performed very well! Was totally shocked when he passed! Looking back, yes there were things wrong with his health. But, as has been described by critics, he was NOT a Caricature of his former self!!!

I am going to order a copy. The DVD and CD are beautiful. I always believed he sounded great during the last tour. It was obvious he was putting on great shows, and he had a lot going on. I think people were looking for the performance they came to know of "Love Me Tender". When that didn't happen, some criticism crept in. This critique puts that in context. It is a sad tour, but he, himself, performs brilliantly. Who doesn't pronounce a word wrong in the course of the day. The unknown was that one does not come back from enlargement of the heart if it is not diagnosed, if reports stating that were correct at the time. Thanks for a great review.

Thanks for this detailed showing/review although a hard watch for me sometimes as you said there are many many highlights and this material certainly deserves more credit than it receives.

Well, you're not missing much with the blu-ray. I have now watched both, and the regular DVD has much more content than the blu ray. My friend Anna and I watched them both tonight, and agreed that while blu ray might be a clearer image and better sound, it doesn't do Elvis any favors. His skin looks rough in the closeup photos with skin flaws and sweat amplified, while the DVD softened the image and he didn't look so bad.
Great review. Please get the live in Boston from the same label.

@@mikeivey7167 I heard they think Elvis looked so bad they didn't want it released. Wonder if the Ex Wife had any say in that decision? Anyway, it's out there now for the fans to make their own decision.

This is hype by the makers to sell a box set. Most Elvis fans and even friends say he should not have been filmed looking so sick and clearly on an array of pills.

You are entitled to your opinion, but as you will see by the other comments here, many fans agree with me that this was a wonderful concert by Elvis. Yes he was on an array of pills - BECAUSE HE WAS SICK.

I know, I stuffed up but corrected myself later in the video. I got a really nasty comment from somebody saying I wasn't an Elvis fan if I couldn't get my facts straight. I have no idea why I said Elvis was 44 when he died - I know he was 42! Brain fog happens..
