    Thank you very much for this. I just bought two of these. One with 60 amp output and an LED power meter and one with a max of 40 amps. You have helped me understand much more about this controller. I will check the mosfets for anomalous heat patterns and add a cooling fan. I am glad to find out it already has current limit built in. Do you have a video for troubleshooting these controllers? I suspect the relays are not robust enough. Both of my controllers have 2 relays.

    I think all u need are two 5 pin automotive relays and a 3 position switch for forward off reverse. I don’t know if u need diodes on the coil circuit for back emf.Seen a similar set up on a wiper motor down rigger using a pwm with automotive relays to control direction. Many dc motor reverse direction circuits using automotive relays on utube.

    @@robojax Thanks Robojax. Perhaps I should have worded my question differently. I understood that the red wires were switch wires but I was unsure if you could simply use a jumper on them or possibly a toggle switch. My apologies. I did receive the unit and a simple jumper works for the switch part. But what I noticed testing the potentiometer is that the voltage is full at the off position and drops as you increase the gain. That was counterintuitive to me. After some fiddling, I swapped my throttle +5v and ground cables around and can confirm that it works, however once the jumper is in place, the motor turns slowly at zero throttle, and I believe it will not reach full speed at full throttle. My only guess is that ebike throttles are outputting 1 to 4v and not 0 to 5v like the potentiometer is outputting. and I believe its a hall effect sensor in these throttles. I wish I could use the throttle I had but I'm thinking I will need to source a throttle with a different output.

    Alex Fagundes Hello, did you ever figure out code changes to use the hall sensor (ebike throttle) in place of the potentiometer? I’m having the same issue with a similar circuit where zero throttle turns the motors.

  • @2far2c28

    @2far2c28

    3 жыл бұрын

    TheYockfu There is no code that can be changed or settings that can be updated in this controller. No one else seems to have an answer to this problem either. I’m not that experienced in electronics to have a great fix. Option one is to use a regular cable throttle that attaches to a pot and some kind of spring setup used to return the throttle lever to off (just as if it were connected to a carb). Option 2 would be to make a small module that attaches to the hall throttle and pulls down the .8 low side to 0, and pulls up the 4.2v high side to 5v. I have no idea how to build an opamp circuit for this but I wish someone could show us. It would be very handy for a diy video.

  • @robojax

    Thank you. No. Your DC motor has Operating voltage. So you need to have DC power supply that matches your DC voltage of your motor. Say your motor is 24V, with 10A so you need a power supply that outputs 24V with 10A current. Now this power supply can get power from 110V (or 220V). So you need this power supply between 110V and this module.

I saw in your comments earlier you dont need a bridge rectifier after the motor because the motor outputs DC current but the volt/wattage on this motor is kind of weird. I don't understand where the analog knob voltage is changed to digital on the circuit board, but have one of these and want to run two fuel pumps with it. They only require a total of 40amps when at maximum pressure, so this controller should easily run them. I'm just trying to find a way to connect the pwm signal from my computer to this device. I have included the datasheet in the description and you see that each mosfet can handle 90A. If you are able to attached a heat sink that is large enough with cooling, you should get 50A each which would be 50x8=400A but in theory you should be able to get 90x8=720A. I am being conservative, suggesting 400A. Read the datasheet and provide adequate heat sink and you should get that current.

    I am not sure about the conductivity of the material. Test it another board and after it dried, try to measure the resistance of two points about 2mm apart. If you get anything less than 1MΩ then you can't use it. This board has MOSFET and it is possible that the material leak some voltage and it turns it ON or OFF. So for that reason you gotta test it or read the technical details of the material before using it.

    A Great Review of this board. Thank you...!!! I have ordered 2 of these for my project. (Sawmill) Has anyone hooked up a Digital Read Out for the % of PWM the motor is receiving from this board? Or do I need to do this using an Arduino UNO etc? A Schematic would be helpful? A Link maybe? Thanks!!!
