Ten years ago I bought a similar (slightly different look) Bunn with the thermal carafe. That pot is used every day, often several pots a day (5 adults). I really love this pot. I have become a quick change artist and I start with my cup on the bottom and at the right moment I switch it out for the carafe... no spills. Anyway, this is a quality product that makes a very nice cup of coffee.

I am generally a Folgers coffee guy. I have had many people tell me who hate folgers that they find it absolutely delicious when they come to my place, they always ask me what the secret is and I tell them that it’s the Bunn coffee maker nothing else.

My dad swears by his bunn coffee maker and lot of others do also, they have a big following.

Love how demonstrated on how to use a Bunn coffee maker. I've been through at least 5 of these brewers in the past decade. They're really good coffee makers. The only con is that the whole inside the resovoir is made out of plastic and it's not replaceable...

The Bunn reservoirs are stainless steel. Except for the Heat N Brew model. Are you talking about the brewing basket? that's plastic, except on commercial models

If you can ever get hold of some Community brand coffee, I would highly recommend it. I love their Dark roast and New Orleans blend. For a lighter roast, their Breakfast blend is also good. I’ve just always preferred a darker roast.

Advice : Use distilled water , use Starbucks Verona coffee . ☕️☕️☕️✨🇺🇸🇨🇦😊. I worked as a lab tech in the coffee industry .

Good job touching on all important points. Been using Bunns exclusively since the '70s. Currently using the Bunn CSB3T, because my wife scorches it with the hot plate of other models. The carafe keeps it hot for a surprisingly long time. I always use the carafe with lid off to fill it. Fills quicker and no chance of brewing into a pot with coffee already in it. Also, grounds are removed before the pot, to avoid dripping it everywhere. I use a cup under it as I remove it, in case it is still dripping. You mention Bunn users having certain habits, and that's just another one. I use one large, super heaping scoop of coffee for a full pot. Never make less. I imagine that scoop totals 10 tablespoons. I'll have to measure some day 😊

@@BLYFACTOR Owners of home Bunn coffee machines usually find that their coffee makers use about 1.1 kilowatts of electricity each day, adding between $2 and $4 to their electric bill every month, for a total of between $24 and $48 per year. Compare that to a few bottles of bottled water or even a single cup of Starbucks coffee!

Use the carafe to fill it with water and you'll never have to worry about the carafe being empty beforehand. There's a reason why they sell the water container separate as it's just not needed.

The first home coffee makers that Bunn produced came with that plastic water pitcher. You needed it to fill the machine because they didn’t have the stopper in the fill reservoir like this one does.

Thanks for the great review. I have had a Bunn Velocity Brew BT for many years. My only gripe it the carafe dribbles while pouring and leave a bit too much coffee in the carafe when you pour the final cup. Does this new carafe design dribble or do you have any issues with left over coffee? Can you measure the height of the carafe? Maybe I can get a replacement for my Velocity. I like the detail of the brew basket ridge so it sits flat on the counter.

I personally turn it off after use for the day. No reason to use electric for non use. Nice vid though.

I have this model and I’m trying to figure out a way to have it ready to brew as soon as I wake up. I tried filling it up with water at night and leaving the lid up and close the lid to start brewing in the morning but the coffee was cold. Any suggestions?

It's not designed to do that. But it takes so little time (3-4 minutes for a whole pot). If you don't want it on all the time, attach it to a programmable timer and have it turn power on to the coffee maker 20 minutes before use. Then just pour your cold water in after putting in the grounds and hot water comes out.

Please, what is the correct information to reorder filters? Bunn offers different filters of all different numbers but cant find the correct ones that came with the unit and no clarification in the manual. I have orderred a few different ones but cant find the ones that came with it and the others make the coffee taste terrible! The ones that came with it are amazing but i dont know what to order. Any info would help me out tremendously as im getting low on the good filters!

Should I get this one or the BUNN VP17-1? Looks like the only difference is the VP17-1 is all stainless and can do 12cups, it needs a pot purchased separately.

The VP17 is a commercial machine. It is larger all around, verify it will fit were you want put it. Also it uses the full sized commercial filters. Never used it smaller batches. I think it is a great machine, but size and aesthetics need to be what everyone in the house wants. I believe it does have separate warmer and water heater switches so you can use it with a thermal carafe.

I own a VP 117 and I can tell you for sure that it is definitely a lot bigger machine, it does have separate warmer switches, but I wouldn’t use it with a thermal caraff, the heating elements are specifically designed to work with the 12 cup caraff. I’ll also mention that the heating element in the industrial machines is 1500 W where is the home models are 8 to 1100 W.

I got this coffee pot and I love it except the first pot I brew every morning, whether it is on or off, is lukewarm at best. What am I doing wrong?

make sure you are leaving the switch around back on all the time, this keeps the water in the tank warm all the time. that switch should never be turned off unless you are not using the machine for more than a week.

You may need to preheat the carafe. I use another machine, but, what I do is fill the carafe with hot water the night before. In the morning, I pour out the water (which is surprisingly still hot/warm) and then brew. For you, your first pot is heating the carafe for the subsequent pots... but, that makes the first pot lukewarm.

Is it just the lighting or...? Because at the end of the video when the cup of coffee was sitting on the counter, the coffee looks very weak. Is it weak or does it just appear that way on the video? Thanks!

I think it was lighting. the coffee was a medium roast and tasted great. it might seem and look weak but it did taste great. I have thought that sometimes also, Not a coffee expert so it might be a tad bit weak.

@@JustADad you did a great video...I just ordered one and went 2 days reading reviews...lol...how do I rinse out the coffee pot when I get it? After is all set up do I run it through with water to rinse the inside out?. I don't want coffee right out of the box...I'd like to rinse it out first..

Hi DAD, I love your videos , but I bet I know why you got that open box model for 70 bucks off. Because the base of that coffee maker is not flat and even, so that thermal pot wobbles like crazy , but it didn't when you put it on the counter top ! 😊

yes what every amount of water you put in that is what comes out. so only put 4 cups in and 4 will come out. but you have to set it up first

I cannot fathom why you did not tell us the height with the door closed. It would have taken 2 seconds.

Terrible machine doesn’t make coffee, it makes coffee flavored water…. Just like the cup you poured 😂 Had to return it. Buyer beware this POS
