Wow! 20 years is a long time! I am emotional thinking about returning to America after about 5 years overseas.

It has been a tough journey for me. I feel like a complete outsider here, if I am totally honest. One thing I have really noticed is that the police are MUCH more aggressive here. I was out walking with my camera on the sidewalk the other morning around 8:00 a.m. when two police officers came up asking what I was doing and why I was taking pictures. They questioned me for about 10 minutes and moved on after checking my ID and passport. I've had 6 or 7 run ins with them in only 3 or 4 months. Insanely aggressive--if not actually illegal. That seems to be the biggest change I've noticed. Freedom here in the states seems to really be slipping away quickly.

I will be visiting my small town in Missouri but my cousin and many school friends never left so easy to visit there.

It is strange because so many people here live this life. It is just too slow for me.

I must have missed it. Where is the town?

It is in deep south Texas between San Antonio and Corpus Christi. Very deeply rural area with a lot of very dichotomous beliefs, traditions, and political behaviors. An ULTRA rural area.
