Bruce Williams thanks for the response. My heaviest watch right now is a old breitling steelfish that is very heavy but also very comfortable. I’m sure the MM can’t be any heavier than that beast. I held a MM once and don’t remember it being all that heavy, could be wrong it was years ago..

I like how the diashield gives a light dulling of the SS, it looks really good. The movement is nicely decorated unlike the earlier version of the sbdx001. The 8L35B version (compared to 8L35A from early serial 001's) is nicely decorated, looks just like a GS movement

In my opinion, there should be ZERO alignment issues with a watch that costs this much. I also find it inexcusable on a 007 for that matter.

Agreed. My Black Series solar diver is perfect, and that was 400-euros. I'm considering a MM300, but would not accept less than my solar for obvious reasons.

Killer watch. The Seiko grail diver. At least I feel so over the GS. Mm300 blurs the line between GS and Seiko. Afraid to try it honestly.

Had them all but this one and it’s the best thing they offer with 8L35

This watch is stunning the fit and finish is incredible from what I see from video I can only imagine in-person how awesome it must look. I would definitely characterized this piece as a grail watch I’m sure you got a decent price from dealer.... my only reservation is the chunky size and it’s 50 mm lug to lug which is just over my preference limit on my 7inch wrist and it looks very top heavy... I absolutely love my new SBDC 053 so it fill that void but man I man the 300 is a killer!!

I just got the older gen myself last month (SBDX001) - what a stunner in real-life, photos don't do it justice. Wear it in good health. There are rumors of a reissue for one of its ancestors (6195-7000 - said to be SLA025), to be announced in Baselworld. However the MM300 is a classic in its own right.

PS: Get the crafter blue rubber for it, that really looks awesome on it.

The only concerns I have about it are the crown (I’ve read that it’s a bit fragile) and difficulties with getting it serviced. Congrats! Looks so amazing!!!!

Don't worry about the crown.. The issues are only with the older 001's I have a newer 001 and the crown is excellent. I have also experienced the 017 and it is very nice aswell. Jack at IWW serviced mine for $275.00. My Omega was more than double that to be serviced.

Just that sometimes they don't line up. Seiya puts a disclaimer on his site that says he's not responsible for misalignment. I guess its just a regular thing :(

I think it wears better than a monster.. It is a bit heavier on the bracelet however.

Is it just me or it looks like the bracelet end links are not quite flush with the watch lugs? They seem to be a bit lower than the top of the lug surface.

I like the OEM options most personally. A nato on this one makes an already tall watch a little too tall for my tastes

what is your opinion when comparing this to the sbdx021?

Tudor Pelagos VS MM300 please!

What puts me off the MM300 is the replacement parts cost, and how hard it is to regulate. Replacement bezel is AUD$900, which is not far off the price of Rolex bezel and more expensive than a Tudor black bay bezel. You can't buy MM300 inserts separately, you have to buy the whole bezel. Regulation involves a complete uncasing of the movement, which is a bit of a pain too. Other than that, an awesome piece.

Nice video Bruce Can you please compare the Marinemaster to a Tudor Black Bay and/or a Oris diver say a Aquis ? A comparison with your SPB051 would also be good. Keep up the good work and I see you are up to16K subscribers. Well done. Seemed like yesterday you got to 10K.

I want the SBDX017 MarinMaster. Seems odd to me that Seiko would discontinue such a fine watch that, for all intents and purposes, was selling well.

How long did it take to get to your door? Is the alignment generally an issue on the sbdx017? I just ordered one, 10 minutes ago. I emailed them about my alignment concerns and they just stated that they inspect each watch before shipping. I’m so nervous as this is my first purchase of an upscale watch and one that I have been looking at for a couple of years now.

The watch is awesome! The lady at Kay jewelers lost one of the collars to one of the links that I had removed. I had them send the link and pin back to seiko so that they can source a replacement collar. One thing that I noticed in person is that the applied indices don’t quite look as thick or round as they do in some images. Has Seiko changed the dial slightly? I can also notice the same difference in the dial when comparing this video to some of your previous marine master videos (the watch you previously owned). Has seiko stopped hand painting the lume? It doesn’t seem to have the same somewhat inconsistent texture and consistency that I’ve seen in other videos and photos including your own. Not only that, but the color of the lume looks significantly more green in daylight and not as heavily applied.

That watch was the end of an era lol

I would love to see you and Rob swap your MM300 and Doxa 1200T for a subjective comparison review. Both pieces fall around the 2K mark and both historic divers.

No I've owned 5 turtles over the past couple years. The 777 was a rebuy but of a different variant.

Hardlex? How come Seiko use sapphire on Transocean that’s half the price of the Marinemaster? I take it it’s a high grade hardlex but still.

I think its because then the 001 first came out the watch scene was very small. There wasn't a clamor for sapphire and ceramics. The model has been pretty much unchanged since its inception
