    I could see this model winning a golden demon back in the day. The old style models give me so much nostalgia, the hobby has grown so much but I'm glad the 'original' styles can still make it through. Quality as usual Dunc!

    This is literally how I'm still painting my Blood Angels. Doesn't matter if it was my old 2nd ed models or the one from the Indomitus box... the Sons of Sanguinius have never looked better!

    Theres a paint company called coat d'armes (spelt that wrong most likely) that are based on the old paints from back then. Good to see you dont look as tired Duncan ^^

    Same most of my army is painted with a dry brush and all over wash. I'm starting a chaos army this christmas and they will be painted parade ready (i practiced harder techniques on a few models mainly my assault intercessors)

    I only was around for 3rd edition 40k, but I still so very fondly remember the then 2nd edition almost-technicolor paint schemes. For my child mind, it was the very height of miniature artistry (and technically GW being the only source I knew of at the time anyways).

    WOW ... that video brought back memories. I remember my friend giving me an old biscuit tin full of miniatures back in the early 90's ( Bloodbowl - Hero Quest - Warhammer etc ) The 1st mini I painted was a Space Marine in blue. I was hooked from that moment ... I'm thinking of painting again & this channel has really ignited my interest in doing just that! Huge Thanks Duncan 👍🔥💀

    Dante was always the model I would stare at the most in the “Angels of Death” codex for 2nd edition. My young brain would frazzle trying to understand how that model was painted. I know, now, it was painted in yellow… but even with today’s modern paints I still have a soft spot for that model being painted in yellow versus gold. Thanks for sharing.

    A blood angel like that was the miniature that got me into 40k back in 2000. Someone at school had the little pamphlet with all the different chapters in it. I took one look and had to know more.

    I remember sitting there as a 10 year old in the mid 90s holding one of these exact marines, trying to paint it in Blood Angels colours, with absolutely no idea what I was doing and an absolutely horrendous result. Amazing video, I wish I could send it back to my 10yo self.

    @@emile1365 - I do draw the line at the Goblin Green and flock bases, though. I don't think my Primaris will tiptoe through the tulips or fresh, verdant fields.

    I first got into 40k with second edition in early 1998. I started painting my Marines as blood angels, GW sold a paint called “Blood Angels Red” which basically turned my Marines orange... being young and stupid I had no idea what I was doing.. no undercoat, using crappy brushes, just painting over gray plastic. Such a disaster.. thanks for bringing me back Duncan

    I started roughly the same as you in ‘96 and BA were my first army. Seeing this vid has brought back so many memories I’m really tempted to paint a Primaris BA like this. Watching your videos during theses troubling times has inspired me to push and improve my painting even after so long. :)
