Hi everyone! This post comes with an exciting announcement for you all. Here in Minisodes HQ I have been quietly plotting to dedicate more time and energy into the channel, giving you more Minisodes and finding more ways to share with you my love of the golden age of Warhammer. As of today, for the cost of a White Dwarf magazine circa 1997, you can access my new Patreon. I already have a podcast up for your listening pleasure, in which I (amongst other things) give you the inside scoop on the channel, future plans and a commentary on one of my favourite bits of 40k short fiction. This Patreon is very much inspired by this wonderful community and I can't wait to start engaging with patrons and hearing all about what you'd love to see from the channel (as well as having a good chinwag about all things 2nd Edition). Hope to see you over there. www.patreon.com/Minisodes

Hey - with the old yellowed transfers, if you tape them onto the inside of a window for a few days in the sun, the yellowing gets bleached out and they go white again. If the backing paper doesn't soak up water well (due to age), rub some sand paper on the back and roughen it and then it will soak up properly. Great video!

Most of them still serving; 15 with the BA, 10 with the UM, 5 with the DA and (sadly) 6 with the treathcerous Mantis Warriors. I like how you walked us through your painting process. I still have the Painting Guide. (I´ve been playing since RT days). Looking fwd to the Batrep. All the best! Billi

Gert lush. Love those old beaky bois. I have a few Coat d'arms paints, and I find them to be a useful tool in the toolbox. As with all brands, some colours cover better than others, but as I'm of a similar vintage to yourself, multiple coats is completely normal to me. And yes, I do also use them straight from the pot.

I painted him very similar to the Blood Angel you painted here, though mine is an Exorcist, painted in the 3rd edition bright red scheme, as opposed to the modern brick red colour, or the Rogue Trader yellow, black and blue. Although I have a plan of painting my scouts in the Rogue Trader colours.

The Space Marine Painting Guide was a formative piece for me too, I still refer to it on occasion! My memory of my pot of Salamander Black is that, well, it was just black. It was maybe supposed to be a slightly green black while Chaos Black was a slightly blue black but I don't recall ever being able to tell the difference myself!

I had the space marine paint kit back in the day.... since first day I was suprprised how off few colours were: for instance, blood angels red was mainly a dark orange and salamanders green was a regular forest dark green... however 3 colors where truly good and matching the schemes: spacewolf grey-white, ultramarine blue and boltgun metal recently I came back to the hobby and I must say still have some of those paints working and in use (so, not so bad quality apparently... :) )

I used this guide and the original paints but on the modern Horus Heresy beakies and I have to say, Salamanders Black, is the nicest black paint I have ever used, smooth and velvety and a real joy to work with. Based on the guide, I don't think you went wrong not using a terracotta equivalent for the Blood Angel, it's a very dark brown and, follwing the letter of the guide exactly, it doesn't produce the bright orange red marine shown, although my own attempt did look good and I really liked it, but he wasn't orange!!

@@edpaintsminisAll those old paints last really well (apart from one of the metallics which basically rotted/rusted in the pot and was notorious for doing so, mine hadn't ever even been opened and it was still useless!) although to be fair, I've recently been buying some of the old screw and flip top bolter shell style pots that GW made and even though all the paints are dry, I've been able to save them; not a swift process but it's doable. So if you do get some of the old paints and they aren't the best, they can be salvaged, to me, it's been like collecting old minis, all part of the hobby :D
