Love the videos, one suggestion if there brass catches holding that lathe up I would consider putting in a second something underneath the front edge so it can't drop. Look forward to seeing the next vid.

amazing idea with the workbench! i think i might implement that into my shop,, also loved the work u put into the intro, it was pretty funny, and last, thank you for this content we can just watch for free it is absolutely amazing,,

super cool idea, but be careful with those hooks, they are not intended to be used like that, and sooner or later they will break. In many cases the lathe will operate in discontinuous cuttings or with unbalanced loads or vibrations, and this can cut the hooks tiny bolts, or crack the brass, or the hinge wood. Consider to put on some other hinge , a thrust rod on the middle or whatever else, and some kind of cinetic absorber, like pistons or pulleys with counterweights. When the lathe will fall down you will be probably working with it. Sorry for bad english and be safe and careful. :-))))

@@PJTForging a little pulley system might help... Looking forward to the restoration.. Alway fascinating how "hand tool rescue" remembers how to put it back together... I always have bits left over hahaha.. Good luck Phil

@@recyclerman1 yeah, that's why I figured I'd probably put it back together again, prior to doing a full refurbishment. Otherwise I'd forget how it goes. 😂

That’s a pretty lathe. Check out Steve Jordan’s site, his workspace is tiny and he has maximised its use. Enjoy the lathe. You’ll out grow it very quickly.

What sort of craziness is this? Wiring a plug yourself? Do you not know we are too stupid to be trusted with 3 wires? I need a cup of tea to calm my nerves, thankfully my plug can't be interfered with, PHEW.
