I love the fact that you are having a go, and making videos, but there is more to 'restoration' than painting and making it look shiny. There's truing and centring, concentricity and levelling, and a myriad of other jobs which add to the usefulness and accuracy of the lathe. I'm in no way being negative, but you have entered a world of precision in which people, many thousands of people, know their onions. Enjoy the journey.

You're not wrong. I fully hold my hands up to the fact that I'm basically refurbishing it aesthetically. I am not a machinist, nor ever probably will ever hold a torch to those people in the know. I just want to make an old machine pretty again, and have a go at using it to make some not too terrible things. I did not take your comment as a negative, thanks for the feedback. Food for thought. :)
