Steve, I totally agree with your thinking. Your profit on this job was not what you had originally thought, but by going out of your way to return a really great product I hope will return much more than money in good will. I do hope the customer sends you many new clients. There aren't too many "good guys" like yourself left anymore.... continued success to you!

I'm sorry but, I don't see how the bag is any less authentic. You transferred over the serial number, left the most "important" parts alone and did a masterful job. Boo hoo to the haters and critics.

You were extremely generous and proud of your craft by doing something the customer didn't want to pay for (the redo you did on the leather parts that weren't authorized), that's very effing rare this days. I've become such a fan of your work in just a week by watching your videos. You are a true artisan.

Remaking and restoring leather goods is indeed a lost art. If LV did this themselves what would they do differently!?!? It's not like they use special LV leather harvested from one of a kind, farm raised LV cows. My man you are killing the game and I truly hope you can pass this craft down to future generations as your father did to you!!! Much success to you and continue to reap the rewards of KZread!!!

To decode LV SL= France, 07=Month and 91=Year So it was Manufactured in France July, 1991 What a wonderful job you do bringing back such a Vintage piece. Your so right when you get the Vachette Leather replaced you should replace it all otherwise it looks crazy. I have had 3 pieces replaced by LV however if I do get a Vintage piece again I would have all the leather replaced by you.

That was so generous of you to re do all the leather for her. WOW. The craftsmanship is incredible, you have breathed new life into the bag.I get what some others say about the leather being light, but knowing what i know, I would say most LV lovers would rather have a bit lighter and have the opportunity to let the bag patina again over time. Beautiful work!

Idea for the future: buy pre-loved LV bags, restore them and then re-sell😁 👍🏻 im sure alot of people would buy the bags with reinforced nylon inside the leather straps! Honestly, LV could learn alot from watching your videos.

Wow. I can’t stop watching your videos. You’re a master artisan with an ethic I rarely see today. True pride in a job well-done. Delivering above and beyond expectation. Appreciation of past craftsmanship and honoring it with equal if not superior skill. I collect watches which are in constant need of repair or restoration which in no way, shape or form devalues the worth of the timepiece as long as the horologists is superb. My watchmaker is 85 years old, Swiss, and comes out of retirement now only for the very special or the very rare. There are certain movements that simply cannot be repaired by anyone else alive today in my opinion. Please find some apprentices. Your skills must be passed on before we collectively forget the art of craft-unappreciated by most, yet cherished by the few who actually know what makes a bag, a watch, or a pair of shoes extraordinary in a world of the disposable. Thank you so much for sharing your art.

Beautiful restauration job! I so enjoy your videos. The owner can use the bag for another 30 years. It looks brand new. I am always amazed how little (lining, straps and stitch cover) real leather LV use for this model. You end up paying a lot for coated canvas... and the labor to produce the bag of course. That's probably why they never overlap stitches :-)

Hi Steve; great video, as always but I wanted to mention to you that Loctite Blue is the normal thread locker people use. Loctite Red can only be removed by heating it with a blowtorch after it has set. It is much more permanent, for critical moving mechanical components, than normal Loctite Blue.
