Fantastic restoration--as usual, the work of a perfectionist. I love the fact that the bag is 34 years old too--nice that the owner recognized the value of an old bag and wanted to bring it back to life. And the new straps are a thing of beauty. Even the inner lining is gorgeous. Thanks for this handbag video Steve--those are always the most fun to watch.

The craftsmanship is nice yes. But airbrushing those natural leather handles goes against every single Louis Vuitton rule. Those should have been stayed natural and age naturally. Or rubbed in with a oily substance if you want to darken the leather. But spray paint the handles?!?!

Leather workers are the same as any skilled laborers, after they have enough experience to actually be good at their job they start to think why are they working for someone else & want to try to do it on their own. Skilled laborers are also always in demand so they figure they can always get a good paying job if something fails. As someone who is a certified welder, certified mechanic and someone who has also built every aspect of a house, if the economy is doing ok I can find a decent paying job almost anywhere so there is no reason to stay at a job I don't like. That is most likely the reason steve is having problems keeping employees. His best chance would be to hire an apprentice and teach him how to do what he needs him to do. Pay the apprentice a decent wage so he won't quit to go work for Walmart or something. Far too few places are willing to actually train employees nowadays and that is a major reason why so many skilled laborer positions are going unfilled for sometimes years. If you can't find someone with 5+ years experience then train them so they will have that & more with your company.

@@BedosLeatherworksLLC I purchased a specialty jeweler's vise to hold my 'disposable' blades. Then I just strop them. Honing as opposed to sharpening. I think I still have my original #2 blade in my handle for cutting leather. Just some compound on my leather strop and do a few passes. Why not prolong the use of a blade if you can?

OLD LEATHER SMITH here, very nice Steve, I just did 1 similar, I clean and soften first, easier 4 me 2 work on. I have found a way 2 turn the moccasins I make right side out, I rounded the end of a closet rod on 1 end, by placing the other end at the floor against a wall it turns very easy and works with everything else. The only other different things I do is hand sew, repair and do custom, bespoke only, NOTHING 4 SALE. GOD'S BLESSINGS ✝️⚾🙃
