Structurally... change the color.... change the untouched soles..... Why did he buy the boot in the first place (haha)? I know why ;) Somebody REALLY wanted a pair of boots that look like Indiana Jones. Then again.. if that were 100% true he'd realize in the Indiana Jones movies, Indy stick with the slicker soles ;) . Anywhoo.... nice to have the money to get all that work done ;) To each-their-own. You did a magnificent job getting it done for him.

It doesn’t matter I guess and I don’t really have an issue; just wanted to make sure you were aware. Have an amazing weekend and holidays sir. Hi Steve. Ive watched two of your leather jacket repairs but I still have a question, if you wouldn't mind helping me out? I bought a 1940's horsehide jacket was in need of some TLC. I mink oiled it and that really helped it out but there are "worn" spots everywhere. I do like a little worn areas so that it doesn't look new but this is too much wear. Should I re-dye the jacket or would it be better to use Saphir cream shoe polish on this? Thx for any help, I enjoy watching you work and learning from you.

  • @BedosLeatherworksLLC

now that you applied mink oil to the surface, it would be difficult to dye it unless the surface is thoroughly cleaned. as far as polish, NO don't do that. I would just wear it as is, the more you mess with it the more issues you might have.

@@BedosLeatherworksLLC thanks for your reply. The jacket is almost 80 years old and the leather was quite stiff. It is nice and pliable now, it really needed some oils put back into it. I’ll give it till spring and see if it’ll react to some color better then. Appreciate your help.

Such a shame that people spend so much money on boots to have them recrafted the way they should have been right out the box. It's good money for Steve but it's criminal from Alden. £350 to buy a pair in the UK. Over £800 if when include Steve's work. Crazy money. You can literally buy Crockett and Jones, cheaney, even 3 pairs of Loakes 1880 line for that... Anyhow, Steve did a fantastic job as always.

I'm puzzled why people would want a relatively dressy boot like the Indy to have a 360 welt. There's virtually no functional difference (not that you'd notice anyway) and cosmetically it fits in with a more rugged boot. I'm sure that he'll get lots of Indy work now that the boots have been "outed" even though most of the people would have been quite happy with the boots before they were cut in half by another You Tuber. Still, it keeps Steve (and the elves) employed...
