Restoring 1943 GREEN LANTERN - 76 YEAR OLD RAILROAD LANTERN RESTORATION
Ғылым және технология
In this video i am restoring an old green railroad lantern which is 76 years old. If you look closely you can read the numbers on the side of the lantern (i forgot to make a close-up from them).
The lantern has 3 different colors which are white, red and green.
The inscriptions say 'Wakefields 1943 Birmingham' and it was used in WWII.
I decided to keep all the original parts because they didn't look worse enough to replace them with new ones, and i also think that keeping the original parts gives the project just that little extra respect for this old vintage lantern ! :)
Please consider to give this video a thumbs-up if you liked it, and let me know in the comments what you want to see in the future !
Thanks for 11:07 sec of your time guys/girls !!
The title from the songs are in the video each time a new song begins.

Actually not a Railway lantern, but a British Army WWII traffic and signal lamp. The arrow on the plate with date is a British Army War Department marking. The lanterns were used as regular lanterns, but also to mark road sides for drivers to find their way at night. They originally came with a cover for the lens with an arrow in it as well, for directioning traffic, but these covers were almost all removed when people continued to use these lamps after the war. All in all, a great video and an awesome piece of history!

In blackest day, in brightest night, Beware your fears made into light. Burn like my power Sinestro's might!
woah looks amazing Ben!
You are realy gold at restoring. My respect👏👍
Very well done, heres a tip for restoring glass (I've used this car detailing quite often), get a clay bar for detailing and use it on glass, it will pick up everything regular washing doesn't.
How can anybody dislike this video?? This was possibly my favourite video of yours yet - you must do more restorations like this! It was incredible, great job man. Keep up the fantastic work!
Not sure how you do it but your videos are just relaxing to watch and interesting at the same time. 5 stars!
i like the music also its the right volume it did not distract from the restoration
Damn those edit skills!
We need more macro shot!
I am glad you kept all the parts, thats a restoration. Unlike that dude in Las Vegas who has a tv program and "restores" things but changes what he wants from parts to the paint job.
King of Restoration!
That thing has an impressive beam for a fire light!!! I don't think it ever worked as well as it does now. Really beautiful!
that is a work worth watching. a zillion times more valuable than smashing things with a car wheel.
This just looks so incredible, it really is as good as new. Nice work Ben.
This is something worth watching 👍 Do more of these, really enjoyed it !
Thankyou for making these videos. I find them very relaxing and satisfying learn at the same time.
I have no doubt you would’ve also restored the poor namesake movie to a marvelous condition. Great job, congratulations.
Very good restoring 👍 Very interesting
Excellent outcome. I just found one exactly like yours with surface rust but everything original. I have all the tools except that nice mini sand blaster.
I"m a train junkie and would give my right arm for that, it's beautiful, great job!
With videos that you make we can see how thing looked like 70 years ago ! :D keep up the fantastic work!

Oh Wow! This is my very first time I am watching a Restoration video. And I enjoyed the perfect details that was done to restore this old lantern. I have some old ceiling lantern from a very very old house and I wanted to restore it but had no idea how to. I wish you lived in my city.I would have brought my lanterns to you. Now I have to look for somebody like you to do this for me. Its truly an Art to do such a fantastic work. Its a passion. I really appreciate what I saw. Its was a treat. Thank you.

What caught my attention is that the reflective sheet makes it look like a flashlight, giving more light to the light.
