You put the chain on backwards. You painted the air filter. You didn’t lubricate the pilot bearing with grease, that should have been replaced and you didn’t put any bar and chain oil in machine.

Also, needs 2-stroke oil applied to piston, rings, cylinder, crankshaft, bearings, etc. during installation.

Nice way to clean a saw I guess and looks very nice all said and done. However, aside from the obvious chain being on backwards, chain brake missing/not added, chain Tensioner missing, and paint on the air filter. It would seem they made so many more mistakes I can't even count them all, especially putting paint on the Crankshaft. Who knows if the case bearings are any good, (love how they hammered the case together, couldn't have thought about that myself) but I digress, the clutch cage bearing needs to be replaced and they put the bar studs on backwards. Not to mention if the Carburetor is any good. But all-in-all they " kinda " know how to take a saw apart and put something together. Nice try👍

They probably could have just serviced the carb and started this saw right up. Instead they took everything except the carb apart. What a waste of time.

I was running this saw for about 2 hours at about a 30-50% duty cycle kzread.infoUgkxfQm1wmg0ItKDLavxj1nXtQY9HP7EF504 and it did a great job. I used the lever for the built in sharpener to clear chip buildup out more than to actually sharpen the chain. It managed to cut some hardwood stumps much larger than it's size without bothering the neighbors with hours of 2 stroke noise.

Since you painted the air filter and the crankcase you should have just painted the Piston too lol

I thought the same thing. I wanted to see him start it up. I want to know if it actually runs. Great cleanup - but I need to see was it worth while. What good is it to have a clean saw and it doesn't it run. I have a Stihl Saw to rip wood -not look pretty.

Did you sand plastics so primer and paint will adhere? Compression test? Leak down test? Clean carburetor? Replace crankshaft seals? The MS 381 is the newer version of the MS 380, so really not that old. All that work and you didn't even fire it up on camera. I know Stihl products and this is a solid saw.

Looked better before, these old things just need a full tear down and clean/rebuild. It will be peeling paint forever now and won’t even start. 😂😂 this is hilarious man so rough as guts. 😅😅 can u do a video of trying to start 😂

I wouldn't have painted it, because even though it shows signs of age, I prefer the aspect of Originality!...In the end, we just had to make it work!....🤔......😄...

This is exactly why you don't buy any "REFURBISHED ENIGINE" items, unless you know for sure that the person who done the restoration/refurbishment is a professional at what they do...

That was painful to watch. Struggled with the fuel cap, didn't change any bearings or seals, painted the fucking air filter for Christ's sake. Yeah made it look pretty but damn it

You are kidding, right? A little part of me died when I watched the video.

Mate what are you doing to that saw... all you did was take it apart and wash it down, then reassemble without replacing anything, and with no lubrication on anything, and gasket sealer and paint where it shouldn't be. And the chains on backwards. Goes to show, a fresh coat of paint makes things look impressive to people who don't know much about them

18:05 / 24:19 : yes VERY good job no 2 stroke oil used. Just put everything dry together and crush the rings into the cylinder without compressing them by hand or something...

You need to practice on a Craftsman and leave good saws to the pros.

17:10 - Извините, но позволю себе дать Вам совет на будущее: коленвал бензопилы с надетым подшипником не нужно забивать молотком в картер при сборке. Нужно взять строительный фен, нагреть им половину картера, в которую будет вставлять коленвал, чтобы отверстие в картере под подшипник увеличилось от нагрева в диаметре, и потом коленвал туда легко зайдет. А когда вы забиваете коленвал молотком, можно повредить посадочное место подшипника, и наружная обойма подшипника может начать проворачиваться в корпусе картера. А это приведет к последующему ремонту бензопилы, возможно даже к замене картера целиком.

Не вздумайте заводить эту бензопилу! Вы залили в нее чистый бензин из бутылки, а надо заливать топливную смесь: на 1 литр бензина 20 миллилитров топливного масла Stihl HP Ultra! Если вы заведете бензопилу на чистом бензине, двигатель заклинет, и его надо будет выбрасывать в мусор!

I've just started watching this and the first thing that comes to mind is, since when has anybody thrown out a Stihl pro model chainsaw? They are always worth money for the parts alone and that saw isn't even super old. Not with that style of oil and gas caps. It also had good compression and likely just needed a little tlc to run like a beast. Oh well back to the video, though I read some of the comments and so I'm not expecting a happy ending. After seeing the video. Well that was a huge bummer. I'm sure glad that wasn't my saw. Smh

@@jt9498 Yeah. It's more like "wash everything in gasoline and slap back together and spray the crank with paint". Or maybe I'm an idiot and asian gas magically regenerates bearings? :D But even more sad is when someone is calling people like us haters because we can see the errors and we know how restoration should look like. Personally I would at least change the bearings and seals if the top end had decent compression and wasn't scratched and changed out the clutch needle bearing.

Nice job it looks nice. I would have put a new chain on it still should make you a nice chain saw.

Zinciri ters taktığını benden başka fark eden olmuşmu diye yorumlara baktım, biz TÜRK'lerden başka fark eden olmamış, adam hava filtresini bile boyadı, motor çalışıyormu, çalışırsa kaç gün çalışır acaba çok merak ediyorum

Remember after washing, before putting the cylinder on the piston, lubricate the piston with oil because when starting the saw, the piston works dry for a while ...😉

Esse modelo de motosserra dão de chinelo nas da atualidade. Caso as tampas de combustível e óleo fossem de roscas seria perfeita. É preferível reformar 10 vezes as 038 do que comprar essas de hoje descartáveis. Aqui na minha região quem tem uma 038 não vendem, preferem arrumar, pois não existe motosserra do mesmo porte até o presente momento melhor.
