Restoration HUNTING Knife - Roe DEER Handle

Hello folks! At the end of the new year, I bought this broken hunting knife at the flea market. The handle is made of a roe deer hoof. The video knife is homemade, but made of high-quality high-carbon steel. I have not had such a knife in the workshop yet - they are starting to restore the knife!
Firstly, I took the knife apart. The blade and bolster were placed in a rust remover. After cleaning, it was placed in water with soda to neutralize the acid. I sanded the knife by hand and made new bevels. The bolster was just cleaned up.
I did not change the handle of the knife, only cut off the broken part and drilled 1 hole for the pin. When gluing the handle, I used epoxy resin and a full pin.
Next, I moved on to creating a knife sheath. I used linden wood, the second part of the scabbard was made of leather, the suspension was also made of a leather cord.

It is kind of hirshfanger. German hunting dagger. Also it is common in East Europe.

@@ScrewsAndTools Понятно, есть некая неправильность прямых и кривых линий, единственное что это дело нивелирует, скрывающие это ножны и рубящий функционал ножа, на практике часто им как топором приходится работать в лесу.

This reminded me of a deer hoof handled knife my Grandfather had. His was a much smaller blade and made in Germany. Nice resto of this one! Let’s not forget that sandwich.

Absolutely brill, well done on the actual restore and even betterer, you left in your little oopsies. I enjoy the fact that you're able to accept that not everything works first time. But the best was the fine dining at the end. I would give almost any amount of cash, up to £8 to enjoy a sandwich like that. Encore, Bis and more even....
As Bob Ross would say "Mistakes are just happy accidents". Interesting knife I've heard of lucky rabbits feet, but lucky deer foot? Glad you still used it.😄 On a different note, I've added another 2 antique swords to my collection. One's in fair condition, the other one makes me sad to look at 😢. I feel they'll be safer with me.
