    Ellen's kids look healthy and happy but so did I when I was a kid, eating fast food and candies, meat and dairy. My health problems started only when I was 16yo. Most of the kids will be looking healthy on any diet but the problems may start later. That's why deciding if the diet is good or not based just on how our kids feel right now is not enough I'm afraid.

    This. I was fine eating total trash and not exercising at all until I hit my late teens. I looked totally healthy; healthy weight, everything. Just because your child looks fine NOW that doesn't mean you're setting them up for a healthy life. Kids are incredibly robust. Their bodies can take a LOT of punishment.

    I agree on the fact that Ellen Fisher has become an influencer - due to the number of her subscribers on KZread as well as the total number of followers on Instagram and other social media accounts. However, the audience must (finally) realize that her content is ALL ABOUT MAKING MONEY. It's a business. Nobody knows about her real beliefs, values etc. Her persona might not even be real - but how do we know? We can only judge her "persona" by the content and the posts she is creating. In my opinion it is obvious that KZreadrs - in general - rely on brand integration and product placement. They simply create a story (in this case with the topics of *family life,*veganism , *outschooling, *homebirth etc.) in order to make money. For sure they might be intrinsic-driven about certain topics; otherwise they would probably not spend as many hours a day in front of their camera, but it's only purpose is to get as many subscribers as possible - for the financial reason. Ellen Fisher's marketing strategy is simple - but very effective! It is really dangerous to follow or even to copy KZreadr's advices / life styles one by one. Especially if it's all fake! They all make profit out of it ($). I do not want to go into further details; but it is very obvious that all the promotion of B12 supplies, vitamin pills, supplements or nutrition tips are only mentioned that people will buy it. KZreadrs - like Ellen Fisher - do not necessarily care about your health or well-being; just as a consumer of her promoted products. So please tconsider to talk to your doctor or to any aproved medical specialists about health, nutrition plans and skin care - and do not listen to Ellen Fisher or any influencer primarily! Health related topics have to be taken seriously - Health decisions should always be evidence-based not opinion-based.

    I think it is important for vegans to decide if they are vegan or just plant based. You can’t be considered a vegan if you use products that were made from or tested on animals, animal cruelty is the biggest argument vegans have against omnivores and crucify them for it yet somehow vegans wanna take vaccines? Hypocrisy? Don’t say you’re for the animals if you’re going to suddenly make something exceptional. I hold vegans to high expectations considering how much badmouthing alot of them do. Just like how they wish omnivores would stop criticizing the way they eat, then I’d wish vegans would not criticize ppl for living their own lives.

  • @KatLovin

    @KatLovin

    5 жыл бұрын

    DarkShadowHawk720 the problem with vaccines is that it’s not just about your own life. I’m all for people doing what they want so long as it doesn’t cause harm. Not vaccinating your child causes harm to the general population. And if your child is one of the few who cannot be vaccinated because of a health issue, then you better hope that other people are vaccinating their kids so your kid doesn’t get sick. It’s crazy to me that we had come so close to eliminating a lot of major deadly diseases only to have them resurface because people have been led astray by faulty information.

    Plz don’t take this the wrong way but Honestly since when have you truthfully cared about someone else other then yourself, I mean by the looks of it you really don’t care about yourself, if you did you would care enough to do just a moment of research, like literally 5 minutes of research would at least help you to realize that everything you just said is just plain not true, I suggest you start thinking for yourself instead of blindly fallowing a billion dollar industry that has zero interest in your well being.

  • @KatLovin

    @KatLovin

    5 жыл бұрын

    PlantPoweredMama By the looks of it I don’t care about myself? Just like your vaccination claims you have absolutely no evidence of that. Also, of course I care about other people. What kind of psychopath doesn’t show regard for other lives? I do believe it’s selfish to not vaccinate yourself and your children if you have no medical reasons not to do so. In terms of research, I have done my research. I just tend to trust sources like the World Health Organization, my physician, the Centre for Disease Control and peer reviewed medical journal articles over mommy blogs and books about vaccines written by chiropractors. Another fun form of research is to go to a cemetery and see how many more baby tombstones there were prior to the 1950s and look up the statistics about just how many people died of measles and polio before vaccines. If you do have evidence that supports that herd immunity is a fallacy, I’m open to looking at it but to suggest that I don’t think for myself because I don’t agree with you is quite egocentric of you.

Everyone that I have dealt with that has skin cancer never wore sunscreen in their life or only wore it at the beach in the summer. People are very nonchalant when it comes to skin health. She said she only shows what the children tell her to show, but they are children, they are too young to understand the complexity of putting your life out there in the internet. And as you said sometines the kids are actually too young to consent, we saw photos of them since the day they were born. And Elvis wanting to be filmed and telling her to redo and film only some parts worries me, it shows he already worries about what he's like, his online persona, and he's not living as carefree as a kid should. Since he was born his parents put his life out there, his videos weren't solely taken for the joy of having a way to remember when he was a kid in a private family setting, but with the intent of being published. And I think that's toxic

    My grandmother was eight years old when she watched her mother die of tetanus. There had been a vaccine for years and there was a treatment. She could have lived and been there to protect and raise my grandma. But instead, she passed on treatment, my grandmother watched her mother die one of the most horrifying deaths possible, and then my grandmother was shuffled from family member to family member afterward and was molested by two of her uncles, was physically abused by another family member, and ended up married and pregnant at 15 (to a 26 year old man). She wouldn’t let me draw on my skin, even with washable markers, and sometimes would freak out if I used makeup because she didn’t understand exactly how her mother died (she was told blood poisoning but the autopsy records say tetanus). Watching her mother die in such a horrible way traumatized her for life. Vaccinate your children. Vaccinate yourself. Get a tetanus shot. Be smart.

    @earthling no they put everybody at risk. A vaccination is not a 100% bulletproof immunity, it "only" increases your immunity greatly. There is nevertheless a small possibility to get infected, if a infected person is near you. Like in a classroom with kids, where 29 are vaccinated and 1 isnt, the one gets infected and is responsible for infecting 2 more kids unnecessarily. If it werent for vaccinations, almost all kids would be infected.

    Re: the previous title claiming that ellen endangers children: this is an entirely FAIR claim, and isn't an exaggeration at all. Let's not normalize her anti-vax stance just because she talks about compassionate parenting, is generally warm, and seems to care deeply about being kind and helpful, etc. You cannot be anti-vax and get away with the fact that your choice is literally harming other kids and your own by causing resurgences of entirely preventable deadly diseases, not to mention causing damage by stigmatizing autism. There is no excuse to ignore the insurmountable evidence debunking anti-vax claims, and the fact that she has normalized this is incredibly harmful and yes is literally threatening the lives of her children and others. I'm not anti-vaxination, but your comment seems to mislead people. I've done my research and 95% Polish population is vaccinated to measles, so how is this outbreak possible? Moreover, according to EU statistics, Poland is the country that takes about 20% of all the immigrants coming to Europe and Poland's 5% of population is now made out of immigrants, which is the highest in the whole EU (in 2017). I assume that the health of migrants is not checked (since Polish government responded to this "outbreak" with changing the migration laws to vaccinate the people coming to Poland), so the outbreaks of some diseases can happen, same happened in Germany (which takes actually less immigrants than Poland). By the way, 100 people getting sick is not really an outbreak. (To make it clear, I have nothing against migrants, but it is not responsible to take millions of immigrants without giving them any medical check-up in advance, especially when many of them are from some exotic countries. In America we need to vaccinate before we go into tropics). So comparing this situation to the situation in US where many hundreds of thousands people refuse to vaccinate their kids is to say the least misleading. Vaccination in Poland is obligatory, in USA on the other hand, many people don't face any legal consequences from not vaccinating their kids. We are lucky that there are no outbreaks of any diseases yet in America. But sadly it may come if people mind only their own business...

    @@soniamone6765 oof I did not expect such a long response. Maybe 'outbreak' isn't the word and if that was misleading on my part then I'm sorry, just saying there is a case of kids contracting measles in our country and it is outrageous BECAUSE the vaccinations are obligatory. The authorities are looking into this and yes, it was probably brought from outside somehow, because how the heck else would it be there. Anti-vax movements is not an issue exclusive for America, Poland has had cases of parents running away from hospitals with their newborn children putting them in potential danger because they didn't want them vaccinated and there recently was a lot of public debate about making the vaccinations non-obligatory and even formal suggestions of changing the law (fortunately the government didn't go through with it). I didn't plan on comparing anything to the US, for me it is simply a deeply saddening example of a preventable disease being places it absolutely shouldn't.

Anyway, so saddening indeed to read that crazy peoole exist literally everywhere in this world. I'm quite shocked that there are even such parents who would run away from hospital with their kids just to skip a basic medical procedure. For example, I am a PhD student at a university so I have (a) access to journals and papers for pretty much anything I could imagine, and (b) I research for a living and know that it is 100% a skill to be able to do the type of in-depth (and usually confusing because of technical jargon) research required for many of these topics. Lauren McDiffett yea you see there is different ways on being unhealthy . McDonalds unfortunately is a regular meal for some kids that’s why you see obesity , diabetes , hypertension etc. But Ellen’s kids are lacking protein and that is crucial for kids growth. So I can see how both can be unhealthy. Vegan dietitians would never support that kind of lifestyle . Just because it looks healthy doesn’t mean it is, specially for growing children’s who need more nutrients than an adult specially when they are vegan.

    As a Bio Science major this type of cases come up often in my bio ethics class. And is kinda frustrating cuz people like me and more like my professor who spend hours, days, weeks, months or even years doing research to understand how our bodies and other systems work are suddenly invalidated. People think that by reading some research they already know. When in fact not even scientist know everything. If I specialize in bio genetics , I will lack knowledge in bio cellular and that's why we work together, so we can contribute to our knowledge, therefore believe me, WE KNOW WHAT WE ARE DOING. I came to the realization that some topics are so complicated for some people that they just choose to ignore it and believe the easiest explanation. Cuz our system is complicated and they just can't grasp many processes.

    Your body can break down the non-protein foods you eat into their various amino acid building blocks and “create” protein out of that. That’s the basis of this argument. However, as was mentioned a couple of times in this video, we have pretty low adsorption of nutrients from most plant based foods - meaning that even if the food you eat technically has all the nutrition your body needs, your body might not actually be absorbing/digesting/using it.

    Essential amino acid cannot be produced by the body (non-essential amino acid can be made from other stuff) and while a random equilibriate vegan diet will provide enough essentials amino acid, a restrictive diet like high carb low fat with no beans legumes and nuts will hardly make it.

    calroriens is a way to describe how much energy will be created by burning something. That's why fat or alcohol is high in calories, burning these things will result in a highly exothermic reaction. While some of the plant atoms can be broken down and built into new amino acids there are some amino acids that can't be produced by the body called essential amino acids. These need to be consumed just like essential fatty acids.

    A chiropractor is not a doctor of medicine. They go through less schooling, and have COMPLETELY different training and certification. A chiropractor cannot prescribe medicine and they specializes and emphasize the proper alignment of the spine and body to promote good health, which has nothing to do with the field of medicine. This being said, people should not be taking their recommendations about vaccinations seriously, since they have no background or credentials to prescribe medicine in the first place. I am not saying anything bad about chiropractors, they are very helpful and have improved so many people’s quality of life, and of course, not all chiropractors are giving recommendations to people about vaccinating children, because they stick to what they are an expert in. Please understand that it is so important to understand where your information is coming from, in order for you to know that this information is reliable and valid. Thank you so much for talking about this because this insane idea that vaccinations are bad is going to have consequences for kids in the future, who had no say in the matter. Of course, not vaccinating your child is ultimately your choice, but putting your children and the public at risk because of bad research is not an excuse.

I live in the Australian Wet Tropics which I imagine has similar weather and UV Levels to Hawaii and even at 7am in the summer you can feel the sun burning you. This is someone who wear spf 50 daily PLUS UV safe clothing if we are outside for extended periods of time(hiking, beach, kayaking etc). One thing that really bothers me about Ellen saying that her kids tell her what's okay to film and what's not is that they are not fully developed humans yet. It's the reason why minors can't consent to sex. At their age, her kids aren't able to consider what the repercussions of their images being online could potentially do to them. As an adult, Ellen is able to consider these things for them, but she takes their consent as if it is the same as a fully-grown adult's consent. If her kids grow up and are mad at her for posting content of them online and her defense is, "Well, I asked you when you were four and you said it was okay..." I imagine their response would be, "I was FOUR. I didn't know what the hell I was saying."

    According to science nobody under 25 should be allowed to have sex nor can they consent to anything since our brain isn't fully developed till that age. Yet most influencers are 20-something and we should listen to them for some reason? However legally we can have sex and use the web at the age of 16 in most countries. The age of digital consent is 16.

    I mean, I know when I first started watching Ellen’s channel and watched the video about how she doesn’t supplement B12 for her or her family, I thought that was really cool and made the assumption that they didn’t because they got enough in other ways (that I never knew about). In fact, I waited off on getting a B12 supplement for quite a while (and after a blood test found out I had a slight deficiency) because I was under the impression that it wasn’t totally necessary to have one. I actually distinctly remember talking to my mum about how “cool” it was that Ellen didn’t give her children B12 because “they don’t need it”. I understand she’s since changed her position on that but I’d hate for a new vegan like I was to stumble upon that video like I did and come to the conclusion that it’s ok not to supplement for B12 (sorry about the very long comment!)

    What's your opinion on methylation of B vitamins? I've heard (initially from the "biohacker" crowd, so....) that a decent portion of the population (around 25%, if I recall correctly) may have genetic "snips" that impede their ability to methylate B vitamins. Cyanocobalamin has to be methylated before it can be utilized, but if someone has a known or unknown genetic predisposition that limits methylation, theoretically they could still be low in active B12 (and potentially experiencing symptoms of low B12) despite regular/responsible supplementation. That's the reason I opt for methylcobalamin, but I'm interested to hear your opinion. Take care!

    This is sort of unrelated to the topic buutt... So, I've been wanting to go vegan or vegetarian for a while, but after watching your videos I realized it's not as easy to do it if you don't really have a basis in basic nutrition (which I do not). You've really inspired me to reach out for help, and last night was my first dietician appointment. I now have a game plan, and while right now I'm not going to be going full vegitarian (still will have a small amount of chicken and fish in my diet) right now, but I'm going to slowly work towards it. I guess I'm just saying, you've inspired me to go out and really learn about this before I jump into it, with potentially disasterous effects. So, yeah. Keep it up! Sorry, I don't know how to end this xD.

    Honestly, I don't blame her for being obviously pissed off by your video. The title literally accuses her of endangering the lives of her children and encouraging other people to do the same. If I were her, I would sue you for defamation. The fact of the matter is that Ellen is responsible for the wellbeing of her own children and no one else's. If other vegan parents watch her and choose to do what she does without doing their own research for the well-being of their own children, that is their responsibility. What you are doing is simple and obvious shaming of another mother exercising her right to choose how to raise her own kids. Whether the comments you made in the initial video were accurate or not, the title was purposefully inflammatory so that the video would generate more views. Whatever your intentions are, this behaviour is shitty and it needs to stop.

    So because she has a different stance on a subject you wont watch her videos anymore? A lot of people dont even share controversial topics with others, I like that she does. And she also never tells people to do anything, she just says to do research yourself instead of blatantly following what other vegans are doing. Her videos really give me lots of positive vibes and would never stop watching her videos and judge her because she has a different view from the majority of people. I have this friend who I had a discussion with on a very serious topic, and I felt really personally attacked because something he said was very negative, and very ignorant/ selfish. We stayed friends however and I just dont talk about that topic anymore. I think it is great to be able to still appreciate people for who they are and to not judge and not just what they think. And believe that inherently they are still good people. Edit: i finished watching the video and I so agree with you :) it is also healthy having a discussion on topics, but I guess this becomes harder when we are painting a negative picture of people and judging them personally, but rather just educating with factual information. I realise now this comment is actually quite useless. But do with it what you want lol have a nice day ☀️

Gurrrl the tea in this vegan community is hotter than the beauty community wtf hahaha. That being said, let me say something more serious: I've been one of those meat-eaters who tries to eat one plant-based meal a week since honestly I do want to do SOMETHING, but I can't really afford vegan food, as a poor student putting herself through law school, or spend the time it would take to prep vegan food for someone who lifts weights 4-5 times a week (that's a LOT of food). Once I'm not a student anymore I'd love to try a vegan or at least more environmentally friendly diet but I'm not sure how..I'm sure it's possible but it makes me nervous since I'm already kind of sensitive to some foods since I got my gallbladder removed at 23. I wonder what the best way would be.. Any advice is welcome!
