So This Is Upsetting (RE: Why Our Baby Will Only Eat Fruit)

Fit Shortie Eats is a fruitarian who not only ate nothing but fruit during her entire pregnancy, but plans on feeding her child a fruit-only diet as well. Obviously, this is terrible.

    Regarding Tina's hairline, there are pictures of her from years ago and it looks the same. I don't think this has anything to do with her diet, so stop being dicks. Also, coconut IS a fruit! The more you know! :)

    Okay, but really, aside from my insane fan girl moment -- Really appreciate this vid Swayze. I agree that KZread should flag this as endangering minors.. I wonder if enough people reporting it would get some traction. I actually work in tech and know a few people that work at Google, so maybe I could see if they could do anything. Because I agree.. this is SO fucked.

    Yeah, I don't trust any woman who says BS like that. I was severely anorexic throughout my 20s (which is why I find these restrictive diet lifestyle people so fascinating). I am 5'7 and was 80lbs, I lost my period at only 105 lbs, I was still "healthy" at that point and it didn't seem like a big deal. It really doesn't take a lot for a naturally thin woman (I assume Tina was naturally thin to begin with as well) to entirely throw off her reproductive system and become technically malnourished before she, or even a medical proffessional notices anything is really wrong (I had regular care and was told it was fine and just stress). It's actually a miracle baby Leo was conceived (though as my PCP told me at my worst, it only takes one fluke egg), I genuinely hope that despite whatever happens with Tina and her diet, she is able to recognize that something is wrong before Leo's health deteriorates. It's terrifying how these kind of people can't see what they're doing. It's like a binge drinker who refuses to acknowledge they're an alcoholic. They dabble in these "diets" and lifestyles", exhibiting all the same symptoms as an eating disorder but deny they have anything wrong.

    My mom had a normal, healthy diet when I was a baby, but I was still (accidentally) malnourished because she was stressed so the breast milk didn't have enough nutritional value. Very small things can make a big difference. Luckily one of my mother's friends was a doctor and he told her that I looked small and when she put me on that milk powder stuff I bloomed like a flower. I can't imagine valuing your diet more than your child's health. The knowledge that this is not okay exists and they STILL DECIDE to not give into that. This makes me so sad. Thank you for making this video.

My immediate family is religious too, but my parents have always encouraged us to figure stuff out for ourselves, become educated, and sent us to public school. We're still religious and on good terms with our parents :P

    I just feel compelled to share: I went into my first pregnancy with the naive idea that it was all natural and risk less. Five months into the pregnancy, I found out my baby had a congenital heart defect "incompatible with life". And this, in the framework of a perfectly pregnancy. I would not have known until it had been too late, without the ultrasound. Thanks to the pregnancy controls, we found out, we were ready, my son had a first surgery at birth and a second, open-heart one at 8 days old. Today, he's a perfectly healthy pre-teen. Without medical care during pregnancy he would be DEAD. I have had two other kids afterwards, I am very strong, I have always had big, healthy babies, but there are many things that van happen and we are not aware of. Eating well is essential, but even with all the best diet, sport... things can happen to the baby. Please be informed and responsible.

    Skye ID yeah, I hardly ever take my child to get fast food, but every blue moon or so when we’re trying to do a shopping trip at Walmart she’ll throw a fuss, and I forgot to pack food, so we’ll go in for a snack. I get her a kids meal, I don’t give her the fries, she gets one chicken nugget, and she has to eat the yogurt, apples, and milk first (she’s a toddler- and yes I eat the other nuggets and the fries lol). I get dirty stares from people walking into the store if I get a window seat (the best seat tbh). It’s silly, because they don’t know the circumstances or that she’s eating the healthiest options mostly (healthier than some foods people give their children at home), they don’t see that she eats healthy 99% of the time. There’s times when people are on vacation, traveling, out and about, and you eat out- that’s normal. It’s okay to teach your kids to eat a meal for pleasure every once in a while- if not you’re teaching them to restrict, which can be a slippery slope.

    My son had a ureter that did not develop properly and caused his kidney to back up with a lot of fluid. Without ultrasounds, we never would have known this, he never would have had surgery to remove the blockage and save his kidney, and he would be living in massive pain and eventually could have died. This is so negligent that it's beyond heartbreaking. I can't even put my emotions into words.

    My son had a very similar thing happen with his kidneys and his ureters were backed up. Now thankfully my son well enough he never had to have surgery he just had to take antibiotics that they think caused excess bacterial growth in his ureters that caused it to get blocked. An he has been cleared for 15 years now, but anytime he gets an infection. We always have to make sure that his kidneys are clear. Just as a precaution that his kidneys don't get any infection in them and also to check and make sure that his ureter are always fine. Not it's actually a very hereditary thing in my family to have kidney issues. My great-grandmother had three kidneys. Now she had one kidney on one side and two kidneys that were attached on the other side. An my cousin had insufficient ureter growth. So one was completely blocked and didn't grow properly. An the other one was only grow to the size for a straight pin. So amount of liquid that could get through wasn't sufficient enough to clear his kidneys. So he ended up having to have surgery on both ureters to get them dilated and make sure that they were the proper size for liquid to get through. Thankfully everyone in my family have been fine, because we got proper testing and ultrasounds before our children were born. ( Please forgive any spelling mistakes or grammar mistakes I may have made. I have dyslexia. I know I'm not the greatest with spelling or the greatest with grammar or punctuation for that matter.) Thank you for your understanding. An I hope you have a wonderful day and a wonderful week.

    Debraval Reyes not actually all vegans. There are vegan parents who aren’t actually idiots and know how to feed their children a healthy vegan diet. Like UV, and other folks. It’s entirely possible to meet your kid’s nutritional needs on a vegan diet, but definitely not on a fruit only diet. This lady is basically destroying her child’s health; it might be okay if she breastfeeds, but the minute she stops breastfeeding it’s going downhill fast.

    I hate when parents are like 'we didn't do any tests because we'll love the baby no matter what' Yeah good for you but ever thought of the things that come with birth defects? Things like heart and organ failure, do you really want to risk losing your child because your hospital was not prepared and might not have the right equipment to operate your newborn baby? Some hospitals don't even have a NICU.

  • @likeabunnie

    @likeabunnie

    5 жыл бұрын

    Agree. I'd keep my baby regardless, and the tests aren't even always correct (my mom was told my brother would be born with downs, and he wasn't, which is great... She made sure to be at a hospital who could care for him etc, they may have actually been over concerned... He was totally fine, just super big and a c section, they kept him in NICU a few days though to make sure he was really OK etc)... But yeah, I'd love the baby regardless, and out of love, I'd try to make sure i was as informed and knowledgeable about how to best care for it, and yeah, she's talking about this now in this video and saying all of the things I'm thinking, so I think she covered it... I think it's always fair to weigh options with anything medical, so even if I feel like the costs of a certain test are outweighed by the benefits, I respect that not everyone would feel that way... But things like ultrasounds, even... That seems to have really no reason to avoid, unless she's just... Not wanting to know... It seems like she isn't able to handle the emotional discomfort that she'd face with more knowledge, to recognize that there's a lot of potential risks she's placed her child at, that could be minimized/mitigated by supplementing or... Coming up with some minimal changes to what they choose to do to their own adult bodies... I think it's likely still not ideal to only feed fruit, but if that's what they choose to do, yeah, she's saying what I'm thinking again haha, but yeah, she took the b12 supplements, it seems like they could consult with someone, holistic practicioner, test the child's blood levels or whatnot to see what he is or isn't deficient in, and they can still only eat fruit if that's what they wish, but they can just make sure to be supplementing whatever he's low in. Anyways, I guess I'm just kinda... Urgh, it saddens me to think about how a kid could have medical problems/deficiencies that could be completely treatable, in any number of ways that could compromise with their lifestyle choices, but for whatever potential factors and reasons (quite likely an understandable fear of finding out that there are some concerns, especially just if I attempt to understand and empathize, even though that's challenging to do, her views are vastly different than my own in most ways...but I'd imagine there may be at least some level of guilt she might not want to admit to herself, that right off the bat, they conceived prior to her having her b12 levels checked as she apparently has needed to do annually for an existing medical concern she's had... And I'll agree, that's not the most responsible choice, though if we're real about it, plenty of people end up conceiving in less than perfectly ideal circumstances, and I'm not going to judge her for that, it's something that happens, and it didn't even need to be a major concern, except that she waited so long to finally get it checked out... I'd like to think, if it was me, I'd get that checked out as soon as earthly possible once discovering or even suspecting I was pregnant. But that would be a scary thing to face the prospect of, especially given that some amount of time has to pass before she'd know she was pregnant, and those couple of weeks (idk off the top of my head how far along one needs to be for it to be detected, technology keeps improving anyways, and I don't know anything about this lady other than the contents of this video, so perhaps she didn't recognize or confirm the pregnancy as early as possible, which is also fair)... But those first early weeks are critical, and I'd imagine she'd feel really bad if she were to consider she may have been low on b12 that whole time, so emotionally it may have been easier to tell herself she felt fine, so her levels were likely fine... Until she couldn't deny it any longer... Which is unfortunate she waited so long. It's just overall sad, because there must be a lot of cognitive dissonance about so many aspects of her life at this point, it seems like on some level she's aware that it may not be healthy for her kid to only eat fruit, or even that her diet choices during pregnancy may have had negative consequences on her child... But that goes against the whole way she sees herself etc, and someone said it seems like an eating disorder, and idk if I entirely agree but I also don't disagree... She may well be afraid of eating anything else. Not saying that, from an outsiders perspective, that I don't think a lot of her ideas are... Ignorant, I guess would be the best word I can think of... I certainly don't condone it, and it does seem selfish that she's unwilling to face whatever her feelings are and just consider objectively what is best for her son. That being said, kids do tend to be more resilient than we expect, and from what I gather, he was born with no significant glaring problems and he wad healthy enough to make it to term (or close enough, idk) and through childbirth and continues to be alive from what I'm aware.... The concerns presented are all well founded, I agree with most all of them, and it IS concerning to realize how very many conditions etc could potentially be threatening his life that could be addressed and treated if they were recognized. It would be heartbreaking if... Things don't end well. But hopefully, he is and continues to be more or less healthy, and as he gets older, I figure he'll crave other foods, and it sounds kinda horrible to say, but kids tend to eat dirt and all sorts of stuff as youngsters, and it's not ideal, but at least the soil where they are is likely to have nutrients and such... Idk, and dirt likely isn't the best example, but I'd also hope he'd be able to be around people who could at least sneak him some veggies or vitamins haha... Idk, but hopefully it all works out OK! (and hopefully others don't decide to follow their ideas blindly... Urgh)

I mean twenty years ago they condemned fat, especially saturated fatty acids ... and now nutritionists say that it's actually good and dietary cholesterol doesn't raise the blood cholesterol at all. What will they say in another twenty years? Plus there are so many nutritional contradictions, supported by studies (thus made by professionals and not some new age hippies), that I came to the conclusion, humans simply cannot agree what food is right for them ... and THIS is the real reason for such exotic experiments. The internet with it's contradictious misinformations is making people clueless and they decide to test it on their own bodies (and their family). It's sad, but there is no solution for that, beside gaining experiance. NUTRITION NOWADAYS IS A QUESTION OF FAITH.
