So more people left comments on Kristina's video asking her to remove it. She didn't do that. Instead, she just disabled comments! Also, she's a doTERRA rep. Waaaaaay down in her description after promoting her app and a bunch of other stuff, she says "Get Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils & Join My Doterra Essential Oils Team here". You can report the video, which a bunch of people have already done (I was able to read some comments before she removed them). I believe this qualifies as "harmful and dangerous acts".

But of course... the best part is that DoTerra made up their own “therapeutic grade” to certify their oils with, just like Young Living. Absolute cults and scams, and it’s appalling that she’s not only been sucked in, but is now sucking in her viewers as her downline as another income source. Who cares if they risk their health and finances, just as long as Kristina can make her Rainbow Salads, now with DoTerra oil dressings?

@@JoinTheProgress and something tells me you didn't watch this video. essential oils are dangerous to consume in any quantity, and my original point was that it is absolutely wild that there are raw foodists willing to consume something that is clearly dangerous and proven to be harmful but won't eat food that has been proven to be safe (never said oils are healthy). the difference between something being safe and healthy are pretty significant here. you could eat a dish at a restaurant that contains a tablespoon of oil once in a while and be fine. you could try one of Kristina's recipes with essential oil and likely experience serious digestive problems, headaches, fevers, and throat irritations immediately.

They say "Oh that didn't work, I'll stick to natural stuff that works". A lot of people don't understand skincare is highly personalized and intimate and is different for everyone. It's always a hit or miss. While "natural" shit they mix inside their kitchen can actually be extremely unhealthy and harmful, or simply have no results. It's the same for all these "natural is better" kinda mindset

I'm currently a student studying ecology and environmental science. I learned in one of my natural resource management legal classes that essential oil brands (particularly Young living) are known for illegally poaching endangered plant species for their oils. Rosewood and Madagascar mahogany are coveted Woody plants that are common targets. Using many brands/ types of essential oils can be quite detrimental to the environment. So Kristina and other vegans who use essential oils regularly, claim to be vegan in part for sustainability reasons. While they may do it with good intentions, they need to re-evaluate. They need to make sure their oils are sustainability sourced and not derived from endangered plants.

Jasmine essential oil doesn't exist. Its aromatic product is obtained through something called "absolute", which you can't ingest. And of course many companies label fragrance oils as "essential oils" just to sell. Besides, a lot of essential oils are corrupted, so not all of them are pure.

There's also peppermint extracts (food flavorings, usually sold near the spices) that use oil as a solvent instead of alcohol. These are similar to essential oil, although they actually have to pass FDA relations and are often diluted a bit already with more carrier oil to make them palatable at a reasonably measurable amount (cooks don't usually have an eyedropper in with the measuring spoons). They're also crucially From Food Ingredients that are generally recognized as safe--let's be real: nobody's great-gramma was known for her Theives-and-cheese spread or geranium salad. You can get a wide variety of flavors in oil form (cinnamon, clove, orange, lemon, lavender, oregano are some common natural ones, but you can also get bubblegum, root beer, banana, etc). These are useful for flavoring things like chocolate that will break with the addition of water/alcohol, or for hard candies which are cooked at a temperature high enough to evaporate alcohol, and for people who for religious/medical/personal reasons avoid all alcohol. They also have a different flavor profile (unsurprisingly, as different flavor compounds will/won't dissolve in oil vs alcohol vs water vs glycerin). Some bottles (especially stuff like clove or oregano) even have warnings on them just like a cleaning product because they're known skin/eye irritants. Peppermint oil [flavoring] has been used for centuries, and unlike "geranium EO lemondade", has a pretty good track record WHEN DILUTED (and for the love of all that is holy DO NOT put it neat on skin or in your mouth--when I was in High School, DIY flavored toothpicks were really popular and I remember kids were getting burns and mouth ulcers from overuse of straight cinnamon oil in their cheeks)! In general, oil flavorings are really strong--you can't substitute peppermint oil 1:1 for an alcohol peppermint flavoring when baking or cooking--an just eighth teaspoon in a big batch of frosting veers dangerously into mouthwash/toothpaste territory. In essence, what I'm trying to say is that a drop of peppermint [flavoring] oil, diluted with food or taken in copious amounts of liquid, is probably not going to be harmful. It has a long, long track record (hundreds of years) as an ingredient in foods, medicines, and products like toothpaste, and a commercial food extract is overseen by the FDA and similar bodies where they exist. But to say that because some peppermint oil is okay (in limited, diluted amounts--flavorings are vetted as safe //when used in the accepted manner//, aka for flavoring a food item to the point of pleasureable taste) and covered by the FDA and sold in stores as a food item, then (a) it must also be perfectly safe to use at any dose/concentration/application, or (b) that an essential oil produced by a manufacturer that is not overseen by the FDA must be just as safe, and/or (c) that /any/ essential oil (be it cloves, geranium, or thieves) can be used safely in a similar manner...that's reckless at best and deadly at worst--PEOPLE HAVE DIED from essential oil misuse!

As someone who works in the perfume industry I always find it amusing when people express profound enthusiasm for essential oils. I don’t usually say much about it, but in the hierarchy of aromatic extracts essential oils available commercially are some of the poorest quality you can find. I’ve never come across a brand which uses the most up do date and effective extraction methods to produce the purest absolutes. And since the sector is largely unregulated there is absolutely nothing stopping aromatherapy companies from adulterating their products to make them smell better and make more money. Linalool is an interesting example, you mentioned it, it occurs in the oils of numerous flowers and other scented source materials. The scent of Freesia is almost entirely Linalool. It can be produced by synthetic processes, it’s bio-identical to the stuff that occurs in flowers. But a cheap, low grade rose oil (for instance) can be made to smell better by adulteration with synthetically derived linalool (among other things) and sold as Rose essential oil with no mention of the included linalool because some linalool was already present in the stuff anyway and the lack of regulations means this is legally acceptable. Campherene (a known carcinogen) can be added to essential oils which have a fresh and green aspect to the perception of their smell where that molecule occurs naturally in the extracted oil, several white floral oils fall into this bracket as well as certain oils extracted from resinoids like Myrrh or Frankincense.

While I really only lemon+sage oils mixed with jojoba and almond oil on my hands and body (not face, that crap burns when it gets in your eyes lol), my mother used to be on the doTerra bandwagon and would put drops of essential oils in her water. I never knew it was harmful, so once you started talking about how people shouldn't do that, I literally paused the video and called my mother to tell her that she should NEVER put oil in her water again. So I was like: ok that’s fine, I’m going to be at a store or something right? Nope. The second day they asked us to write a list of all the people we know. They made us write 150 names... I couldn’t even get to 50. Then they explained that we needed to call all of our family and friends to make appointments to buy these knives. That I wouldn’t be paid for mileage or hourly. Just commission and the time spent at an appointment which was $9 for an hour. I did not go back the third day. The secretary called me three times per day asking me if “I was sure,” for almost a week. I had to have my dad scream at them to stop stalking me. MLMs are terrible and really shouldn’t be legal!

Im not too sure if this will help, but I have 4 different chronic migraine disorders (neurological, ocular, vestibular, and abdominal) 2 of which affect me every single day (ocular and vestibular). The main daily issue being that both types of migraines affect my sight. My left eye is very... lets say, damaged. I will never see properly out of it again and I know that. At times though my eyes (sometimes just the left) will develop extreme light sensitivity and sometimes head or eye pain comes with it. CBD oil is the ONLY thing I have ever found to help me with this. Ive tried all over the counter and my migraine medicine only helps with my neurological migraines when I get them. CBD rubs as well as a essential oil infused balm are the only thing that will ease my daily headaches. Btw no Im not vegan and I have tried medications and ill often pair them with balms or oils to hopefully have a better effect even though ibuprofen doesn’t work for me much anymore (i had to take it too often) I hope that this maybe helped give you a little insight on CBD. Side note: I always try something with the expectation that it wont work because I feel like this will never go away. So when I decided to try CBD I wasnt expecting any results. I thought thatd be too easy of a solution. So for it to have worked for me you can understand my shock. The reason why im mentioning this is some people think CBD is a placebo. Im living proof that its not because I didn’t believe a damn thing would ever help especially something i can pick up at my grocery store. But it did and now im in a lot less discomfort everyday.

You have to make sure the cbd is potent enough (not the shit that's sold in British pharmacys). I've seen people with headaches ,back problems, tumors , fibromyalgia ,arthritis, athletes, anxiety and ADHD to name a few all benefit from the use of a few drops injested daily . I would suggest you do your own research and buy it from people who actually care about you and not just money . It really annoys me that MLM companies are putting a bad name on essential oils by advocating unsafe practices. Also wanted to note, Linalool is not a skin irritant. It only becomes a skin irritant once it has oxidized. Same with d-limonene and other monoterpenes. This is why it’s so important to properly store your oils and keep them away from light, heat, and housed in a small container where as little oxygen as possible is in the bottle. For reference, I'm a chemistry student and when I did my OChem Lab we had to distill essential oils: we distilled 1 small drop (it was pratically invisible) of oil from 100 g/3.5 oz of lavender.

Shimmy Shai it was so small that at the beginning me and my lab partners couldn’t even see it, we thought we had botched the distillation

Really helped with my acne. Love tea tree but never crossed my mind to actually ingest the oil. They always say to use carrier oil to dilute it. So I’m shocked that people would just ingest it. Topical is just fine.

I was targeted by a much older family friend right after high school to sell for Beach Body. This person knew I had mental health issues and body based trauma. Not only was I basically fat shamed, I lost so so so much money and made a fool of myself. This older family friend never spoke with me again when I told her I could no longer afford to pay for the shakes every month to stay a coach.

forevermia are there any videos you can recommend on this subject? I am very interested( been seeing alkaline water everywhere) and can't find anything aside from videos touting reasons why you should drink it. Thanks

@@haileygrey5047 There's almost nothing out there :( Cassandra Bankson has a video on alkaline water and how it's basically a scam. Moon and Rock (who were pretty extreme on the vegan, natural everything scale) also mentioned in a live chat that they bought the Kangen water machine because they believed what people told them but I think it negatively impacted their digestion because they said they were selling it..I don't think they wanted to say more since their friends (like Alyse from Raw Alignment and others) are people promoting and selling the machine.

Just adding on to help provide more stuff to look into on this topic, people tout alkaline water bc they think that drinking alkaline water will make your overall body pH more alkaline. People more knowledgable about human health disprove this by saying you can't change your body pH with alkaline water and that a change in body pH is a sure trip to the ER (ex, diabetic ketoacidosis). It's on the same basis as what people claim to be "ketosis" in the keto diet.

Putting essential oils into the air is dangerous to pets. Cats can't metabolize things like lavender oil.

PrinsessAnna yeah, no they don’t. I have had chronic migraines for over 10 years and I can guarantee you 100% that an essential oil is not going to do jack shit. A neurologist and medication management does. Your friend lies.

I use essential oils as fragrances. Don't need any magical healing quality. My room smells like a witch's den and that's what I like. :3 But, I am grateful you are warning people. Thank you! I intuitively felt ingesting essential oils would be a bad idea but never knew for sure. Thanks a lot for educating people.
