Research suggests vegetables can be part of a healthy kidney diet

People with kidney disease traditionally have been told to restrict their intake of plant foods. Some researchers are questioning that advice. John Babich, a third-year student in Upstate’s Norton College of Medicine, explains the benefits of a plant-based diet, even for people with kidney disease. His paper on this subject was published in "Advances in Kidney Disease and Health."
“The Informed Patient” is a podcast that covers health, science and medicine, featuring experts from Central New York’s only academic medical center. Upstate Medical University has four colleges (Medicine, Nursing, Health Professions and Graduate Studies); a robust research enterprise; and an extensive clinical health care system that extends way beyond Syracuse.
