The Roosevelts were also a pretty big family, if you are looking for theme names.

OK hear me out. My first job was for a cat shelter when I was 17. We had a cat there that had the same situation as this baby. The cat was grown by the time I met him. His name was Scooty! He was the bestest sweetheart and just got around with his little nub back leg like nothing bothered him. I am here for naming the baby Scooty!

I suggest you just call him Siren. Sir for short and Siren when he's naughty. I personally lives it!!

ETA: One better. How about we call him Bucky, after Bucky Barnes aka The Winter Soldier? He lost a limb too.

When I saw this, I wondered if you could have gotten one of those little silicone/rubber thimble thingies that people wear to sort mail, papers, & stuff... You know, like clean and dress the wound/nub, but cap it sometimes with the synthetic, soft, thimble thing so it would have extra protection, be able to build strength, & learn to be more mobile. Which, I'm sure it couldn't be an all the time thing, sure it needs to breathe to heal properly, but it would be like a little temporary prosthetic guard for the lil' guy to use at times. I think it would work, but I'm not a professor, veterinarian, or anything, just another animal loving bio student with a random suggestion. Love what you're doing to help the critters! Kudos & keep up the good work! ❤😊 (Sure, it's not needed now as they grow quickly, but just a thought for a similar situation in the future, maybe.)

Do you not have to check that you're not squeezing formula into their lungs? Or are kittens just too smol for that to be a risk? As a nurse we have to aspirate and check for stomach acid to make sure we're not in the lungs.

I was taught to measure the tube against the outside of the belly from the mouth to the last rib and mark it with a sharpie so you know how far in to push. If you can't get the tube in that far/meet resistance, you might be in the lungs, so you take it back up and try again until you can reach the marked point.

Saw a great name: Treasured Toast was a fine show horse back in the day :)

Could you potentially (at least for the next 2 weeks) when his leg is pulled all the way in, treat it like an incision and stitch the skin closed so he can't push it out and it could stay clean and moist(and maybe bandage the stitches to further protect them? Or would they just rip out?

The only names I can think of for the boy are leg related but you don't want those, so instead I'll give you a name for the white kitten and that name Chily I thought this would be PURRFECT because she's white like snow so she's chilly, but also spicy like a chilli pepper 😁🔥🌶🐱🤍
