Subbed. thanks. I got one very late in the season in northern Indiana hope to save it from the bugs and lack of care. Have hopes for next year.

I’ve read that Fukien tea can be a bit difficult regarding water and placement indoors. I’m curious how this will do later on. Next time try to pull out the wire out of the bottom first, then you don’t have to wrestle it when the roots are wrapped or entangled.

I got it in November and took it outdoors in April which was a bit too early. I have 2 now that are both doing well. I'll follow up with this one soon and show you how it's doing.

Carmona don’t like having their roots damaged. It’s safer to wash out the substrate rather than aggressively raking as we do with other trees! Root pruning needs to be done cautiously and never more than 20% of roots starting with any tap root. After repotting keep the tree out of direct sunlight for a few weeks and don’t fertilise during that time. The long term care involves positioning the tree in a well lit area, misting and away from draughts! In many parts of the western world it is considered an indoor plant requiring temperatures above 70F. Always wire a repot in position, especially outdoor plants, but even indoor plants will want to fall over without prompting! Root rock will prevent establishment!

Thanks for the info, I just got a carmona yesterday. Think I should repot after buying from the store or wait till spring?

@@coltonloustalot2318 You can slip pot it into a larger pot but minimise any root disturbance until next spring.

Hey, just curious about what kind of soil mix you use?

In all honesty I'm using a bunch of different soils at thr moment trying to figure out what I like. The soil is a proper bonsai soil but I'm not sure exactly how it breaks down.

You may want to change your planting angle back to where it was and not have the trunk straight horizontal.

Is this from purely an aesthetic perspective or is there negative developmental concerns to this angle?

@@ApexBonsai purely aesthetic kind of a rule of thumb
