    Yeah, don't buy one. These cars are amazing when they work, so there's no reason to ever sell it on other than you've gotten sick of fixing it. If there's a second hand one for sale I can guarantee there's a problem with it somewhere. I still have mine and it is a constant source of problems. I wouldn't wish it upon anyone. I hoping to trade it in for the new VW ID.7 when it comes available.

    Did my epg module today , omg .. 3 hours to get the 4 mounting bracket bolts off , mine didn't snap , just rounded ... I didn't even bother try removing the hand brake cable clips the bolts were so corroded and rounded , i just easily broke the rusty clips by wiggling them instead . I put the new one on in no time . Goggles are a necessity for this job , my car will be so much faster and more economical now , as so much rust fell off when i was using an air chisel on one of the bolts lol . Well done Simon for doing this job and video .

    What a cool couple, RE watched your first video and stuck around for the second which are very entertaining especially during this pant's lock down shenanigans. I have a D3 which has me hostage and in perpetual overtime to meet the whacking great repair bills over the 5 years of ownership, like the previous post I went from secondary school onto the tools and then into all sorts afterwards including camera op and Avid editor so I really appreciate how much graft you put into your posts not only working on the ground losing circulation but the camera work and post production, thanks for the entertainment and you two stay safe

    Thanks! The Rear Suspension video was 18 hours of footage. This Parking Brake video was about 12 hours of footage. I didn't want to film another fix, I just wanted to get it back on the road. But my partner kept bringing the camera out and telling me that I must do it. I didn't bother using my radio mics for the Parking Brake video. Also it took far too long in my spare time to edit it. I work as an broadcast editor for my day job, so not a fan of editing when I get home. Any way, thanks for watching. We're both happy you enjoyed it.

    Another great video, the more annoying thing is if you look on the back of the transfer box there are 4 bolt holes for a conventional transmission brake, that's the easy bit, what I haven't worked out is how to mount a brake lever in the cab, and keep the electronics happy, because it uses cable tension monitoring I think, that handbrake is deep buried in the cars electronic systems and won't be removed without loads of system modifications but cleverer people know how I'm sure. Thanks for sharing your painful experience, helping others is the best!

    You're right. I turned the ignition on while the EPB module was removed and the whole dashboard lit up and started beeping error messages. I am told the angle sensors are also in the EPB module, but I haven't verified that information yet.

    I reckon your Disco 3 and mine must be twins. Last year my EPB stopped engaging, so I contacted my local LR independent and was shocked at the quote for parts and labour. I looked on eBay and found a module for about £400 cheaper and sent off for it, with the aim of giving it to the specialist to fit. When it came to it, it turned out that it was not the EPB module that had failed, the issue was with the brakes themselves. Watching you tackle this made me glad that I didn't attempt it, especially as I'd have only found later that the issue was not what was expected. All credit to you again for having a go. Your films have spurred me to tackle more. Last week I did the oil, oil filter and air filter (all of which I filmed), and earlier today I was underneath looking at the fuel filter and giving the fasteners a hit of penetrating fluid ready for the weekend. Please keep posting your endeavours.

    Hi Razor, My EPB stopped engaging one month ago. So I pull the security cable to release the car. when i try to engage the EPB again, i can only hear the wired sound like the gear or the cable is stuck in the module. After reading your comment, i am wondering maybe mine is the same problem with the brakes, cause the brakes are due recently. Any ideas about why the issue was with brakes themselves? your help will be really appreciated.

  • @OffMyCloud

    @@shawnxiao6950 Hi Shawn, My EPB wouldn't engage at all. It wasn't stuck on, so I didn't need to pull the release cable. At the same time, I was getting drag from the rear brakes on pulling away. I thought the fault was with the EPB module, but on further investigation it was found that the park brake shoes on one side had delaminated and on the other side the shoes were worn low and the discs are heavily worn/corroded. It was this that stopped the EPB from working. I hope that helps. Either way, an expensive job I'm afraid.

    Yeah, don't buy a Discovery. They are brilliant when they work and are a real nightmare when they don't. They're expensive to fix, too heavy for some recovery trucks and they break down often, despite me desperately trying to look after my investment. I can't see how anyone can own one of these and not be fixing it themselves. A lot of garages don't understand all the ins and outs of all the electronics and the air suspension. The Discovery 4 has problems with the crank snapping in the engine and nothing lasts very long. Get a Toyota. Thanks for watching.

    Awesome video.. I appreciate it was a while ago but have to say. If you would have attacked it from the front side of the offside rear wheel the module can be taken out without removing the bracket.. Just need to undo the top two bolts holding it to the bracket. Then it all slides out through the wheel well. Then you will have had to get it programmed because it runs on the canbus system. Goodjob it wasnt a wiring loom fault which is common on these.. Landrovers had a recal early on and had the loom replaced as so many were failing.. Good job though. Hope its still working a year later...

  • @WeAreBigKids

    @WeAreBigKids

    4 жыл бұрын

    The days of Land Rover oil leaks are long gone. I used to have a Series 3 Military Lightweight, and that would leave oils spots everywhere I parked, hahahahaha. Nowadays all the problems seem to be related to the electrics and computers. And EVERYTHING is now electric - Parking brakes, do they REALLY need to be electric?! As for D3 or D4, there's not a lot in it. There are some problems with the D4 that the D3 doesn't have, mainly the engine's crank snapping on the 3.0l D4 engine. I prefer the interior of the D3, that's why I didn't upgrade to the D4 when it came out. The 3.0l D4 has no gear stick, the cup holders are in the wrong place and generally all the controls are in the wrong place in the D4. I hated it. I decided to wait for the D5 and when that came out I was not at all interested in it, because, well, you've seen the D5, right? Ugly.
