👍🤗 Thanks and. I am glad to help, thanks for commenting. Having a Land Rover can sometimes be a challenging and expensive task, but most of the time there is a way out. Since the video came out the Land Rover parking brake has been working just fine and no miss noises at all. I hope yours will do the same 😉😉 It could be fun to be your neighbour, however there is a little distance from where I am. 😂👍👍 drive safely and stay safe best regards Rene

@@techtips101 That makes me feel good, because I have the same issue now. Sometimes I hear a loud squeeling noise when applying the handbrake and sometimes it workes fine.

Thanks for watching and commenting. if you have had the PB module which is located underneath the car broken, you might need to change that or refurbish it. This will cause the brake to seize and you will have to emergency release it. If the PB is worn down unevenly the same can happen but you just need to fix the PB as in the video. hope that helps Best regards Rene

You access the release cable by removing the coin/rubber boot instead of the shift panel cover. Much easier FYI.

👍 thanks, yes that is much easier, however my shift panel needs a change, since it is loose from when I bought the car - but you are right, I just need a replacement shift panel - thanks for commenting 👍 is this for a left or right hand drive ? since my boot has no access to the release cable from there. mine is a left hand drive. best regards Rene

Hi Rene, Thanks again for your videos that are so helpful. My parking makes such a crazy noise and it won't work. But I have one problem : I've pulled the release cable nearby the gear lever (2.7 tdv6) went in the back and undid everything but my disk won't come off. I've hit it a bit to get it off but it won't. Any idea what's going on?

Thanks for commenting - yes your disc most likely, if the small bolt is out as well, has probably rusted onto the plate behind it - or it’s worn so much you brake pads are obstructing the disc to come off. If rusted onto the plate you most like will need heat to get it off and a new disc. If brake pad obstruction you will need to make sure the adjustment is completely released of released so much you can get free passage for the disc when passing the brake pads. When you assemble it again, it might be a good idea to use some copper grease on the spot where the disc rusted, just a tiny little layer to protect for future rust, and being able to disassemble it again. Keep brake pads and discs completely clean - no grease or oils. Hope that helps. Drive safely Best regards Rene

@@techtips101 I've taken the caliper out, and the little bolt as well so the disc is free to come out too but it's stuck. The brake pads puller can be turned as well but which direction? Where should I apply heat?

  • @techtips101

@@davidf.8497 ok good - however its hard to help when I am not able to see the patient. Most likely your disc has rustet onto the backplate, and that is where you will need the heat and a big hammer if this is the case, you can also buy a pulley set and mount that and get it off, its more controllable. You can see which way to turn the caliber, however for the parking brake it is not the caliber you need in this case. I will make another video on that. These discs can be severely stuck if they have not been treated og replace with cheaper discs at some point. best regards Rene

did you try putting a bolt in between your studs ? pretty sure there's no there for this reason. as the bolt goes in it hits the back pushing the rotor off. penetrating oil or wd 40 is your friend. use a can of brake cleaner after your done. like he said you dont want that on your rotor when installing. you may need new ones if its bad

Good video no doubt. But the story of the emergency brake release cable is not fully explained. Where is this cable going to and what is it doing? Is it a bypass of the parking brake servo? If so the brake adjustment at the wheel shouldn’t be effected. And the only necessary step to repair the the electric handbrake is the recalibration.

  • @techtips101

Thanks for commenting. The release cable is mechanical linked and runs to the EPB module underneath the car and located in the middle of the car above the rear Axle. It releases the EPB mechanically inside this Box. Its also the box which makes a lot of noise if the EPB is misadjusted since it measures the amount of Amperage necessary to pull the parking brake on both wheels. In turn that means that if you have one of the parking brakes misadjusted mechanically or asymmetrical weardown of the brake in the wheel, you will have this box Pulling constantly, and it only shuts off when the amperage is met, otherwise it will grind teeth and break. This is also the known reason a lot of people have to change this part, since it basically destroys itself from this - so its imperative that the parking brakes at the wheels are adjusted correct. So doing this correctly will save you a lot of work, and money, since a dead EPB module is hard to change and repair it has plastic gears inside and is extremely fragile when they get old. I hope that explains it a little better, drive safely and have a wonderful day .. best regards Rene here is a link of the EPB module and you can see the release cable sticking out and gear exchange kit : www.amazon.co.uk/Genuine-PARKING-ACTUATOR-CABLES-LR019223/dp/B076FGQBZN

Want to be a bodybuilder??? - taking brake discs 100 times up and down, what a bullshit. There is a hole in the disc, and you can easily turn (use a screwdriver) the adjuster with the disc on.

Thanks for commenting and watching. Yes that's correct, and I did that the last time, resulting in a much worse result. This way its used for fine tuning and the drums are running a lot nicer. The calibration went completely smooth and the landcover has now run without complaint since the video has been recorded, and that is through excessive water in the swamp to dry crispy beach sand, so I am not doing the easy way anymore. This takes maybe a little longer but it's a lot better before using the screwdriver through the adjustment hole, and the drums are adjusted equal.. I hope that explains it a little... drive safely, best regards Rene
