Thank you, Dad. 🙂 That means more to me than you'll ever know. I've always treasured those memories, and you're a big part of the reason I'm able to do this stuff now. I love you too!

Nicely done! And how funny, I did the same thing, putting one of each board revision in each launch color for my collection! 😊

Hi Kyle, This board is using the "CPU CGB" revision system-on-chip which is somewhat special in that it contains a slightly different boot ROM than the other SoC revisions. I managed to dump this boot ROM (cgb0_boot.bin) a few years back by using BennVenn's clock glitching trick and LIJI (of SameBoy fame) compared it to the previously dumped CGB boot ROM and found the following differences: - CGB0 does not initialize Wave RAM, newer revisions do - CGB0 uses less optimized code to load the Game Boy logo - CGB0 has two redundant writes to RAM, which were removed in newer revisions Now if you want to try finding something even more rare, look for a Game Boy Color using the "CPU CGB A" revision SoC :-) Based on the date stamps on the CPU it was likely only manufactured for one or two weeks back in 1998. The serial number ranges of known units are a bit strange because there are units using the "CPU CGB B" revision SoC with lower serial numbers. From the 3 known units identified, the serial number ranges indicate that there may be around ~6,000 in existence. Look for a berry red coloured boy in (or near) this range: C10400331 - C10405970. A unit with C10410000 serial number has been identified as too high (contains CPU CGB B).

I have a 03 version, where P10 is not shorting, hence button A is not working. Is there a way to fix that? (ground is working on P10.)

Is there any difference in the bios / how the game plays on this board revision? I do have a version 1 DMG game boy and it has a bunch of différences. For example when there is no game there is no black bar instead of the nintendo logo, the screens just flashes. Also the screen flashes black instead of white where there is a "transition?" In a game like in the title screen for example

Gracias

Nice, I do have (at least) one like that, so not sure if it is actually rare. Too bad it doesn't have something cool and unique about it as the DMG CPU 01 does.

Thanks for pointing that out! To be honest, I wish I would have taken some much closer looks at these boards before I put this video up! I feel like I missed a ton of details while filming, of which I'm sure many will remind me. Perhaps this warrants a part 2 video..? :)
