Great video Kyle, as always. I purchased a carbon filtered fan recently as I had a health issue arise that we thought might have been related to solder fumes. As for the microscope, I have been pondering these for sometime now and I think you have just made my mind up. I've been installing HDMI mods on Dreamcast consoles recently, and some Game Gear McWill LCD's etc so it would be a great help for checking my work visually.

I honestly looked at just DIY-ing my own fume extractor just for a little help. I have a spare 120mm fan (molex power) and fan grill. I figured I would "just need" a carbon filter and the power supply... turns out it's like $25 just for those two things... so that price for that one is pretty decent considering it would do the same thing!

Same microscope Brother! I need very bad one of the fumes extractors, sometimes fumes from flux irritates my lungs, I will keep an eye on this particular one, I hope to find it here in Italy! Great video by the way!!!🤗

As for the fume extractor, I suggest you give the "DIY Battery Powered Solder Fume Extractor" on instructables dot com a try. Nice and easy build.

Can the microscope focus at taller heights with that longer pole? I’m interested in this microscope but want to make sure I’ll have good working distance for soldering. Your mod seems useful only if I will be able to get a clear and magnified image.

Yup! That's why I did that mod on it. 🙂 The built-in LED lights work well still too, but just remember that the image quality is still limited by the quality of the sensor itself, so it will still be a bit grainy like it is at other depths/heights. Thanks for watching! 🙂👍🏻

@@KyleAwsm Awesome. I ordered the scope and also a cheap microphone arm. I’m hoping I can stick the scopes’s camera cylinder through the mic clip, making into an articulating arm scope. If that doesn’t work maybe I’ll try to mod it. Good to know your aluminum pole trick if all else fails.

Beware cheap imitations from China if you order off Amazon, keep all documentation and record yourself opening the box.
