    @@aidankidd6947 He's interviewed heavy hitters before and asked quite relevant questions. Not every word he utters is a joke. That's why his show (now, or the Colbert Report) as well as Jon Stewart's are and were so important. They bring real issues to their audience and make it palatable. Jon isn't always joking. Neither is Colbert.

    That's what I like most about Colbert. When he has conservatives on, he takes them to task and holds them accountable. On the other hand, when he has liberals on, he keeps perfectly quiet and doesn't interrupt and lets them say whatever they want, giving them the perfect platform. This is the greatness that we need in media, and it's a greatness that we thankfully....already have...across all of the media...

Obama was the best President we've ever had but wasn't smart enough to understand that trying to reason with an arsonist and meeting them halfway, leaves half your things in ruin. Had he had more backbone I'd have been prouder. Republicans were literally open about trying to tank the economy to make him look bad and he hardly ever spoke about it. Colleges will now raise their tuition even more than they have. Why should the students even care what they are being charges if taxpayers are bailing them out.     I don't hear other countries turning down all the free military support we are sending them......The US has to replenish it's military somehow. If we'd do like other countries and cut the military budget down, we'd likely have nothing to send. Don't want the US to police or help other countries that need it? Imagine how that would turn out.

    I'm Gen X and when a Millenial friend and colleague answered my questions with saying the student loans were predatory as were the 2007 mortgage loan industry. ohhhh! That flipped the switch on my understanding of the issue. I paid off a $3500 loan in 3 years in 2002. It doesn't sound that can happen with the interest rates of these loans!

    Republicans made the student loan special so you can't even get rid of them through personal bankruptcy. They are a huge ball and chain for employees in the work force. That's why Republicans loved this. Eliminating loans will set free a lot of energy.

    I really hate the term student loan forgiveness. It implies that that student loans are fair loans and that just isn’t true. The loans need to be fixed to be fair.

    Plumbers and electricians provide essential services as well. Outside of things like juggling or macramé, no education should be offered for profit. If Donald Trump isn't a clear indicator that we need to invest in the American People, I don't know what is.

    Those who complain about student debt cancellation and/or mitigation were never heard when the paycheck protection program passed during Covid gave business so called loans which repayment of were cancelled after a certain amount of time. These funds were supposed to go to businesses to pay their employees during the shutdown. That's NOT always what happened and a LOT of businesses simply released the workers and kept the cash which few got in trouble for!

    @@kethmarhkfy7luf.263 You should maybe read the actual bill. It's not completely waiving all debt. Student loans have been predatory for a long time. Even if someone is forced to file for bankruptcy, student loans can't be included in their case. Wow.

I'm so proud to be a part of this moment in history. We have the first president to ever stand with workers on strike, Biden isn't the best but he sure isn't the worst.     @@DanielBarberMusic I guess. I don't watch Fox, MSNBC, or CNN because they treat current events like a partisan gossip column. I Try to stick with Reuters, Associated Press, and C-SPAN and assortment of channels for foreign affairs from channels from diplomats like secretaries of state because my job requires me to operate in nearly 2 dozen countries. I also follow some of Simon Whistler's KZread channels, but hey, maybe I am still uninformed in some areas.

    @@thegoodfight4874 yes, this does boil down to who we mean by “anyone.” I thought the OP was generally referring to either people likely to be watching this video, or the people in the video, or just the general public. And yes, definitely true that larger news outlets and diplomatic channels would be more oriented to reporting facts and leaving things like strategic motivation to editorial boards and political commentary. Depending on the outlet, they may or may not be saying much these days about the distraction tactics, since that has been such a ubiquitous feature of our politics for so many years now. It definitely IS a problem that’s worth raising again and again, since we are so easily distractible.

Are you 15 years old?! When men can stop talking about woman's appearance like another quality at the same level as those first qualifications, then we will truly have earned your respect.     Oh dear. Another one who should've taken the 5 seconds required to see this was just one segment. He has to take commercials at pre-set intervals. She was on TWO more segments. One seven minutes and change and the other 4 minutes. Sixteen minutes total? He doesn't give many people that much time in the guest seat.

    All of the individuals on the right claiming that student loan forgiveness is unconstitutional, or that they don't want to allow it because THEY won't also benefit. (Crazy, not wanting to help you fellow Americans) If they allowed this to pass, who knows what precedent it would set and the things we could REALLY accomplish! It would be amazing!

    Personally, this new bill allows me to take my consolidated loans back from loan servicers, and to the federal government where they will lower my income based repayment from 15% of expendable income to 5%. That cuts my student loan bill by 2/3rds monthly.

    I am from the Netherlands and watched this specifically for AOC. Besides that I completely agree with her political positions, I have an incredible admiration of how articulate, simple and concise her language use is. Ive studied politics in many countries and ages all my life (ok, im not that old) and have rarely seen someone that can explain things as clearly.
