    Great review! I picked one up recently as well and agree with your review. My 3M tape also began to peel off, so I used some UHMW tape to secure the ends. The only other callout I have is that I wish they included someway to securely store the bolts for the seat pad when not in use as there is no great place for them and worry they will get lost. Something like a magnetic head or a location under the seat where they can be secured.

    I ended up ordering the spotter arms and the utility seat at the same time, not realizing Rep spotter arm holes are 1 inch even for my PR4000 rack. Both pins means it’s compatible with the spotter arms and the rack itself that’s 5/8. I do agree you should be able to pick though as some people with 1” racks will have no use for those 5/8 pins. The protective tape also came off on mine on one side again and again so in a rage I tore off smaller piece and am using it on the side I’m seal rowing on and it’s holding up. I’m going to come up with a more permanent solution. Great review, thanks for making it!

    Any thoughts on the usefulness of this vs something like the Sorinex Bulldog pad? I know they aren't the same, but seal rows seem like one of the major functions of the seat+pad. I might have missed it, but is there much difference between this and the Rogue? There's only $30 difference between the two, plus Rogue's shipping. (Always hold out for a BF purchase)

  • @BasementBrandon

    @BasementBrandon

    Жыл бұрын

    I don't believe it's easy to do a full on seal row with the bulldog since you can't lay parallel with the floor. I think they both are pieces that offer a lot of potential, if you're ready/willing/able to set it up. For this and the Rogue, biggest differences is that this has integrated handles, can have a bench tad attach, and can fit on multiple brands/racks.

    Wow, finally got another Rep rep to answer me. His answer "The Utility Seat will come with two different sets of liners, shown in the attached photos. The thinner liner is what will allow the Utility Seat to work with a 47" Rack. The thicker liner is for 49" Racks, and are used to take up that negative space that would come with using the thinner liners on a 49" Rack, this will keep the Seat from sliding back and forth while in use." The liners referred to actually look like rubber bumpers that go underneath. Install them for one length and remove them for the other.

    I’m just considering a utility seat , specifically for seal rows , and also a cambered Swiss bar like your using . Just from watching your video , it looks like the bar gets pretty close to hitting the bench . Wondering what your thoughts are on that . I’m looking to avoid any banging and clanging if possible . Perhaps a home made diy utility bench could be made a bit thinner to create a bit more space inbetween the cambered bar and top of the diy utility bench . Or I guess I could use some sort of handles/grips on a straight barbell to avoid banging . Greetings from Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

    The REP Utility Seat is an engineering masterpiece, including a bonus education that your rack is not as square as you think it is. Even bottom cross-members are subject to its unmerciful Laws of Physics enforcement.
