Well done really good informed video, I always buy Reolink cameras and Eufy, but I must say after watching your videos I always end up buying the ones you review = so I be ordering this one too. Thanks mate

Good review as ever, good amount of detail covering both positives and negatives/drawbacks. I can see this being a good camera for wildlife watching or if you need temporary coverage of an area. I think I would stick to wired for my 'proper' CCTV though. It has its place in the range.

Thank you. Small correction: the sun icon merely means it's connected to a solar panel, not that it is charging. The lightning icon indicates charging.

Can you check the app while youre not connected to the wifi? And just your phone carrier? Or it has to connect to the same wifi to view the camera on your phone?

That is a difficult question Peter. In my opinion the Argus 3 Pro is a fantastic security camera. Easy to mount, the battery lasts for ages with the solar panel attached and it is very reliable when it comes to notifying me of movement and persons/vehicles approaching my house. It sends a short video clip via email which is a brilliant feature. But, the NVR is also very useful and I use that all of the time too. We have 8 cameras on the NVR and having a constant record of what is happening around the house is invaluable for security. If you are just looking for something to notify you if anything approaches, the Argus 3 Pro would be my choice. If you need a system then an NVR with whichever cameras you want would be the way to go. POE means just an ethernet cable to each camera which is very handy too. I hope this helps! :-)

Does it have a continuous record or just PIR detection? Also does it Auto Track pan & tilt Automatically or just manually? Thansk in advance

There is a function to record to your phone or PC via the app, so if you were watching something via the camera, you could record it. It only has PIR detection Gemma. The battery would not last very long on continuous recording. The camera can detect persons or vehicles and I have mine set up to send a video clip via email when something is detected, which is brilliant. It does not have Auto track, you can adjust the camera position using the pan and tilt function on the app or computer. :-)

Is this 24/7 recording or only when there's motion detected?

I see you use the feature to get an email notification with video. Do you think recordings are uploaded faster to the cloud or to the email? I believe it should be the same, which makes me think why I should spend money for a cloud account?

I can say from experience that the app notification (4g on my iPhone) is very fast. The person/vehicle that has set off the camera will be there. The email receipt speed depends on how quickly your mail software is set up to check for new mail. So the app on my mobile phone tells me someone has triggered the camera and if I am at home they will be there. The video file is only 1mb Peter, so it sends the mail very quickly, but I have to wait for my email package to check for new mail before it downloads, or click on Send/Receive mail to speed up the process. In my opinion you do not need a cloud account. :-)

@@RussellPlatten I asked because I am concerned that if someone steels or breaks the camera or SD card, I will not have access to the recordings, unless I have a cloud account. But if the camera sends the video footage to my email with the same speed it uploads to the cloud, I would still have access to the video, no matter how much time my email takes to show that there is a new email. Am I right?

Yes Peter. You could always carry out some tests to see whether it is worth purchasing a cloud subscription. I rely on the emails. :-)

One thing I should also mention is that the emailed clip is only 10 seconds long and you can record for longer to the SD card, so that is a point in favour of the cloud, but for me the email is fine. :-)

@@RussellPlatten I could not figure out how to set the emails so I ended up with a cloud plan. The cameras work great. I bought 5 of them. Let’s see how many of them survive the next hail storm in Southern Alberta :(

What did you use to blur out sensitive info on your video?

I use Cyberlink Power Director to edit my videos. This software has a tool to blur areas of the video. :-)

You have a very pleasant voice and accent. Are you from England? I just bought 5 of those cameras and your review is very helpful to me. I was just wondering how much video footage of this quality (approximately, in hours) can you store on a 128 GB memory card? Would you suggest subscribing to their cloud storage?

I think the 128 GB card will be fine Peter. The camera only records when it detects movement and so long as it is not mounted in a very busy area it will only be recording occasionally. I have had no issues with any of my battery operated cameras. You can always subscribe to the cloud service later. :-)

Quality review, thanks. Needs a windscreen and the Mrs audio did not seem very loud.. Considering a unit like that for my woods behind the house. To observe birds and critters, and perhaps so adult children can see me outside and my property. Also, someone is dumping their lawn and woods debris. Seek evidence before confronting or reporting them to the HOA. Thanks again.

There is the option to stop recordng when the card is full, or to overwrite the older recordings Dave. The app or client software can be used to select the option you want. :-)
